Something that seems pretty clear at Man United is that they've fallen into this big club curse, where they have the perception they can't afford to take 1 step back to take 2 steps forward. They've taken many steps back, yes, but always seeming in panic, overpaying for players, rushing managers, getting managers with completely distinct identities. It's not only due to the lack of a sporting director. When/if the right person comes, they will probably need to accept the process that arsenal went through and we can see it with Tottenham: get the players you need for your strategy, sell the players that do not fit in the plan, even if that means that in the first season or two you will be a bit average and will not promise titles or even top4 to anyone.
I think that's been a fundamental problem under Ten Hag, he picks players to attack the big teams and away from home ignoring the fact we are not controlling those games and are spending most of the time without the ball.
The sporting director is a part of solving this but really the whole leadership structure needs to change, from CEO down. At the moment, everything revolves around the manager. Ten Hag is completely exposed and has to deal with all the heat. It's all on him to perform right now or he's done for, there's no one saying that this is a 3 year project and taking some of the attention away.
In case of Tottenham I feel it showed the need to have the manager and the club on the same side. For example Udogie and Sarr who were both club's choices have shown to be a great buy with the right manager in Ange. But then you see the likes of Spence, Sessegnon, Clarke and also academy players like Skipp and Tanganga who were shoved into the first team under managers that didn't exactly want or need them, spending the time sitting on the bench instead of developing, so we end up stuck with these sidelined players who don't suit the system and are unlikely to sell them for significant money. Adding the fans demands and trying to satisfy their wishes makes it all even more complicated, especially for United whose fans have expectations higher than most clubs
I also asked a question which tifo even quoted in the summer episode about Man Utd. And I think ten hag doesn't really have an answer for it, which is: he is stuck with a lot of players who are good in transition (Bruno, Rashford, Sancho when he wasn't out, center backs who aren't amazing off he ball, even hojllund to same extent). But he wanted to introduce a completely different playing style without overhauling key areas and it didn't work. He is stuck with a playing style he doesn't really want or know how to coach and the club made so many bad decisions that it's too late to overhaul. Last season wasn't particularly impressive either, they had 2-3 good months and a pretty mediocre year apart from that. They mostly benefited from most top4 contenders being MIA
Villa got Monchi and they are something else this season. Micheal Edwards was intergral in how L’pool did their recruiting & the benefits were seen on the pitch. A good sporting director does make a difference.
@@arthur_168 a Klopp Monchi partnership is too terrifying to contemplate lol. It’s quite telling when Edwards left L’pool stuttered a little in terms of recruitment & sales. They seem to have picked up steam again. Szobo & Gravenberch look like gems.
This is actually amazing. This is the first time I've understood how a club runs as a system and it really helps to draw out where dysfunction could come into it. Completely agree with the breakdown; it would be an applicable plan at the highest level to any normal business. I'd be super curious to understand how SAF operated when he was there. Was he effectively Sporting Director / Manager or was running a club a simpler task.
I think SAF had full control over pretty much everything to do with the club from the football perspectove but now times have changed and you need a DOF to work in harmony with your manager, so your manager only has to focus on what he was brought to do
Harvard interviewed Sir Alex Ferguson and published the case paper. His vision was to build a club from the foundation up, starting with the academy. He also managed football players as a player portfolio and figured out that players should be refreshed roughly every 4 years (he sold most of them very early and only kept a couple above the age of 30). No player had more power than him, which he felt destroyed clubs and created a toxic environment. He criticises clubs that purely drive all club decisions based on immediate match results. There's a lot more in the paper, but just to give you a taste. Quite an interesting read, and helps you understand why Man United should not sack Ten Hag. You can find it on Google.
SAF didnt spend a lot of time with in the training round, that allows him to have more distance. He always have a long term vision - except his very last seasons, because he knew it was over for him - because at the very beginning, the board telle him it was a long term project - and he keep this idea. Even when Arsenal or Chelsea went to challenge him. But he was very good with the short term - for example how he used mindgame. He was just a genius, what he did isnt possible anymore - there's far more staff in clubs today. He change his main assistant every 2 to 4 years, someone usually young, to always I imagine challenge his knowledge and never become in late with innovation Plus, it was never him alone : it was him for the sporting department, and David Gill for the financial one. We always forget Gill but he was here since 1997 and he leave at the same time than SAF.
@samwize28 a football director would have tripled their profits or halved their costs by promoting through the youth team and selling assets at the right time. They could have sold ronaldo to Saudis for 50million but they chose to beef with him instead. Harry Rashford Martial Lindelof have all overstayed their welcome by atleast 2 seasons and yet their toxicity remains at the club. I'm not even a UNITED fan but it's clear for all to see.
Glazer's inherited their money from daddy and like most trustfund baby's have have a chip on their shoulder to prove that THEY can be successful alone. Appointing a Sporting Director means that they don't get the credit if something goes right.
@@shadow_realm47 100% Agree The Glazers have wasted £60 million on sacking managers and their backroom staff in just 10 years. Given ETA may not last the season, it could be higher soon.
UTD could've had one of the best sporting directors in Rangnick who would've in his words perform "open heart surgery" on the club, instead of doing that they bottled it put 2 experienced guys in charge and threw ETH into the deep end
@@xixReactguess what? That’s exactly how a club shouldn’t be run. The tail shouldn’t wag the dog. I’m sure Ten Hag would’ve loved to have guys like Julian Alvarez who Ragnick wanted United to sign. The sporting director should run the club so the Ten Hag can focus on actually trying to get a tune out of the players.
@@karmaascendant3936ten hag specifically said that if he didn’t have control over transfers, he wouldn’t have taken the job. He is perfectly content with how things are run
@@xixReact As a consultant. But even then, why is Ten Hag the one making these decisions? Same with transfers, a competently run club would have a Sporting Director or DOF whose job it is to make those decisions. United doesn't have one.
@@uncertified-banger5595 Save your breath. Some football fans are just born with selective memory. Honestly its a wonder anyone can have serious football conversations any more.
It's not an impossible job neither is it difficult. Arteta and Klopp were given multiple seasons AND allowed to finish outside the top 4to clear out the deadwood and implement their vision. Look at them now. Y'all really think Erik couldn't do the same with another 2 seasons barring massive injuries? United cannot keep recycling managers after every 18 months.
Both club have technical directors to make sure that if the managers had a string of failures, the players would be useful to the next manager. Some of the players that was cleared out are useful to the teams till the end.

You kinda pointed out the problems at Chelsea in this too. We have invested in long term without considering the immediate short-term success. I hope Todd watches this. Always great content on this channel. So well executed and presented. Keep it up guys
Yeah, they got the whole “burn everything down and put a brand new system in place” bit. But really focused on 2030, without thinking about the 7 years leading up to it, assuming a top 4 club was a given, sponsorship would fall over themselves. All destination and no journey. The pause to reflect bit, might actually be the most important
This is evident from the long term year contracts being handed out at the club. Such a massive risk if a player does not perform. seems like financial losses are an inevitability within this model.
Chelsea have been considering the short term but its not gone to plan. Yes they signed a lot of young players who aren’t the finished product but they also signed ‘win now’ players like Sterling and Nknuku and already had experienced players in Silva, James and Chilwell. They’re trying to blend youth with experience.
What do you mean by trigger happy brethren? Doesn't make sense. Fans don't control anything, if they did, Ole would have been sacked in his first season. There was so many "Ole out" social media movements and they didn't bulge. As long as Eth doesn't cost Joel Glazer money by missing out on CL, he's safe. Fans opinion doesn't matter. Ole didn't win anything for 2 seasons and wasn't sacked because he consistently made UCL. LVG won fa cup with a young team and was sacked because he didn't meet the financial targets
"Trigger happy" Dude.. .United have lost over HALF of their games this season.... that's not trigger happy, that's a pretty reasonable trigger if you ask me.
The results haven’t been amazing, but Ten Hag’s league win percentages last season and this season are 60.5% and 56.3% respectively. Fergie’s first six seasons saw league win percentages of 33.3%, 57.5%, 34.2%, 34.2%, 42.1%, and 50.0%. So in which of Fergie’s first six seasons would you have been calling for his head? Ten Hag’s overall results since he came to the club are literally better than any manager we have EVER had, including Fergie and Mourinho. What the hell are you smoking?!
Better 5-Point Plan: - Wave Norwich scarves around - Call the manager a bald fraud - Tell Rashford he should put as much effort into football as he does feeding the poor - Make everything Onana's fault - Spend 100 million on a player that will in no way suit the system
I really like the idea you contrasted about immediate and long-term targets. It feels like now United is being spoiled by history. They are being spoiled by the fact that SAF is the mastermind of the previous success. This is however in conjunction with what Mourinho said when he was at Man Utd that Man City had already built their team before Pep Guardiola came. As far as I liked Man Utd last year, I realized how the solution implemented by Man Utd only covers the immediate target (e.g. Champions League spot). Watching the Bayern Match last night I felt like there is no identity at all in how United plays. It almost feels like the players like teenagers scrambling everywhere when out of possession. I think it is slightly better when we have possession though. It almost felt like we were only playing football when we had advantages.
Ferguson his last title was won in a PL with a top that was already on the decline for several seasons with a United team that was miles behind the standard of the elite teams that could beat every title winning team he ever produced. His legacy is a trophy room, on the field his legacy was rubbish.
as a man united fan in my opinion the club needs is: 1. a long term project and a manager: i'm okay with finishing mid table for a few seasons if that guarantees success for a coming decade or 2, what we really need a footballing identity and not signing players here and there, signing players who would adapt into the system and coordinate with the manager and play some actual football 2. better medical team: ten hag still hasn't played his best XI because of the injury crisis we have been since the start of the season 3. better training facilities: because of poor training facilities our players get injured more often, even some championship clubs have better training facilities than carrington 4. a better scouting team and academy: we should also be finding top talents from europa and latin america and training them to world beaters rather than relying on other clubs, clubs like barca manage to stay in top 2 most of the time even during an injury crisis because they have a world class academy, and clubs like ajax, brighton, dortmund, etc. sell their academy players with huge potential for big money which helps them in the market too (although ik ajax have been in some turmoil lately) 5. a proper sporting director: signing of mason mount still hasn't made any sense and his performances have been poor, we need a sporting director who would work with the manager and the board for signing the best talents around europe who would fit in the system rather than signing just for the sake of it 6. removing deadwood: club needs to be more strict with removing deadwood, phil jones basically spent his entire career sitting on the bench for united, maguire might get a new contract because of his promising performances lately, rashford got a new contract because of a 3 month purple patch, united really need to move on from players
agree - manchester united have been notoriously bad at getting rid of players until they leave on a free transfer or outstayed their welcome. too much player power in dressing room which has contributed to an entitled and toxic team culture that is cancerous. how anthony martial has outlasted so many managers defies belief. but you can throw other names that are deadwood like lingard, bailly, van de beek
@@jamesdang2499 yea....blame martial again. He has better goal/minutes played than most of your favs. Why don't u look at the manager who spurned the chance to buy Kane so he could get Rasmus who has the same agent as him.
@@Haraamcore13 not sure how you can defend martial. Yeah he's not the worst but hes not MU quality. A team like Manchester united should have gotten strikers such as aguero or haaland (which they messed up on). He is injury prone and he lacks desire and hunger is plain lazy on the pitch. And this contributes to said problem of the whole squad. The fact there are still fans that defend him show how much the standards have dropped. Martial is not a talented prodigy anymore. He is 28 years old. There's already a track record of getting a lot of older strikers of recent times already - CR7 v2, ibrahimovic, falcao, cavani where they do well for a bit and drop off. The point on harry kane is valid but if united are building for the future then kane is not it. This squad won't contend for the league anytime soon so buying kane would result in then replacing another player AGAIN. thus the cycle would continue.
Thank you tifo for making me understand that a club performsnce and functions depends on sporting director and not on managee.these days i was believing manager is the one who controls most of things in club but its erong.a good sporting director handles all issues and problems in club and keeps the balance of club
Owners are just milking the fandom behind past glories and appointing anyone who seems competent at that moment in time to manage the football. No sporting director, no data department, changing "project" every other year and relying on agents to get established players. Totally clueless.
Not really, but the fix would be expensive, for one: let Rashford leave, there are takers who are interested for 100m, cash in, He's a VERY good player when it suits him, but "when it suits him" should be all the time, there's a host of deadweight United could ditch. Out: Sancho Rashford Antony Mount Dalot Eriksen Van De Beek Martial, Evans Lindelof raise a solid 250-300m from that lot Then: Establish a PROPER Double Pivot with some actual midfield quality and ability to control the midfield. Sign an attacking RB to provide an alternative to AWB. Sign a veteran striker to tutor Hojlund and take the pressure off of him sign a new RW who can cut inside like Antony, but... can also do literally a single thing other than JUST cutting inside on to his left. sign a backup left-footed CB so that you can stop playing Shaw at CB... IN: Zambo Anguissa Barella Frimpong Gerard Moreno Kubo Inacio These ins/outs should leave a reasonably balanced net 4-2-3-1 Formation: GK: Onana/Bayindir RB:AWB/Frimpong RCB: Varane/Maguire LCB: Martinez/Inacio LB: Shaw/Malacia CDM: Zambo Anguissa/Casemiro CDM: Barella/Mainoo RW: Kubo/Pellistri CAM: Bruno/McTominay LW: Garnacho/Diallo ST: Moreno/Hojlund
I feel like people in England are just waking up to the importance of sporting directors. There seems to be this idea that a club is run by the manager, but they are only a small part of the club and are often constricted by those around and above them. For example how often do you hear "he spent X amount on this player or that player" as if it was the manager negotiating the deal, or the only person who makes a decision on who the club tries to sign. Spurs under Pochettino did great while Paul Mitchell was behind the scenes pulling the strings. Just as Southampton were with Paul Mitchell prior. Pep takes the credit at City, but where would he be without Beriristain? Or Klopp's title winning side without Edwards. Emery is getting all the credit at Villa, but Monchi's recruitment has been vital this summer. Dan Ashworth was the mastermind behind Brighton under Potter, and now is the man behind Howe at Newcastle. Recruitment is the biggest expense at a football club and one of the biggest factors in success. Bringing someone in who is looking at the bigger picture to oversee this process is the best way to have a consistent and logical recruitment process, maximising your chances of success. For me Paul Mitchell or Dan Ashworth are the best options for a club like Manchester United. With Mitchell being far easier to recruit than Ashworth who would be difficult to get out of Newcastle.

It is true. ABU syndrome remains. For good reason - United weren't the most gracious of champions or fanbases. City (and even Chelsea to some degree) remember their humbler roots better, I'd say.
A message to the tifo crew and staff... Dear Tifo As I have been a keen observer of your videos and content, I have a humble request ,which I believe is on behalf of the entirety of the audience....FIX THAT DAMN MESSI JERSEY!!!
Honestly it’s so simple but everyone apart from the people in charge can see it. Clear out the entire playing squad who everyone KNOWS have too much power & very little hunger to prove themselves. Rashford, sancho etc A proper wage structure, stop paying excessive wages where the base pay is already 200k+ , have performance based incentives. Why are rashford , sancho etc going to care if they have a bad game when they still get 250k+ a week regardless of if they have a stinker or MOTM performance. Sign players who have the right character and are hungry to improve and have the correct mentality. Take chances on players before they make the move to a Brighton, psv , Ajax etc Imagine United had sign caicedo before Brighton, you’ve got a CDM for 4.5M for the next 10 years and you don’t need to go and sign Casemiro for £70M, Alvarez for £15M you don’t then need to sign Rasmus for £72M. And last of all get players that suit the system you want to play and clear out the ones that don’t, there’s no point wanting to play tiki taka but your starting midfielder is Mctominay , no point playing out from the back and a high line if your CB’s lack pace and are confident on the ball to play out from the keeeper.
They just need a full rebuild. Liverpool and Arsenal have shown that the clubs successful in the 90s/2000s are very old fashioned until you get the long term, visionary manager in and turn the club over to them. Utd keep trying to short cut their way back to the top but everything is so far behind other clubs now that it'll take a few years - no more Varane, Ronaldo or Casemiro signings, they need modern players who could fit in at the better clubs (Maguire for example cannot play in a good attacking team because of his limitations) They need to get a new young manager in give him the reigns for 4 years, take their lumps and let him rebuild all parts of the club just like Klopp and Arteta have.
The rot comes from the top..no sporting director nor manager can fix that. Man Utd is not run like a club but as a commercial brand. There is no vision for sporting success just short term financial gains, winning is secondary, just keep the illusion that you are there with the big boys is more than enough, until that goes away and then sell and bounce. They bring payers and keep players on the basis of their marketability. They look at them as assets that their value needs to maintained on the books in order keep equity value high so that they can get cheap loans and suck the profits from the other side. That's why they refuse to rebuild and cut out the deadwood, that's why they buy out of their primes household names or average hypejobs and not the right profiles. Ten hag wanted Maquire sold but did not happen cos his value at the time was on the floor, cutting loses is not something the Glazers will ever going to do. No way in hell Ten Hag wanted Mount, he just got him cause he is an English boy that has high commercial value, give him the 7 shirt and sell a ton, same with Sancho, same with Casemiro, Same with Ronaldo and the list goes on. Ronaldo did not leave cos he fall off with Ten Hag but because he damaged the image of the club and that's a no no for those Vampires. And the biggest red flag of them all is why a bang average player like Rashford it's so protected, where he is 25 years old supposedly entering his prime and still viewed as a prospect, cause that's his brand! It's a pattern and it's clear to see regardless of what they try to show you.
something that a lot of people are not paying attention to is that players don't want to come to MANU any more that's why a lot of these players are ETH players because they believe in him and they are ready to reject other teams for him not for MANU this is SAD but also TRUE
Jim Ratcliffe’s role shouldn’t be to emulate what other sporting directors have done but should just focus on what United need - Medical Dept., Player Welfare, Men’s team, Youth Academy and Data Dept. I can understand why many would want Ratcliffe to help with the transfers but United need to fix the system they use before they try to add to it because it hasn’t worked for years.
this guy couldn't even fix the French club and they are ruined atm....what is he going to do at united???? he is just a common hustler of money like most of those involved in the business of stealing money via loopholes.
We’ve been asking for a sporting director for years. Unfortunately united is ran as a business, not a football club. It’s all about making money for the shareholders.
Ronaldo pretty much exposed the whole club. He gave all the info anyone needs. I remember seeing vids of RM training and at the gym etc, it's insane in a world where fitness is key. Utd don't have updated gyms etc, that alone is enough to fail.
Good question you can't because every solution we try to find gets screwed by the board and the Glazers. I agree that we need a transfer overhaul, implement data from the off, reflect on each dept's processes and don't forget the human element but if we can't find the right sporting director then there is no chance for success
Commenting before actually watching the video and just making sure you know that an 'impossible job' is definitely not being a coach at ManUnited, it's being manager of Hansa Rostock.
One thing I'd love is if we got away from this fan logic of "We are United and we do X" or we do Y this way or that way. It's so immature. When I hear fans say "we are united we should be playing high attacking football". No, United is a brand. It's value is in winning. Klopp didn't come to liverpool and say "I used to play this way but i'll play how liverpool play now". I remember when Jose was winning and people were still complaining about 1-0 or 2-1 wins. "We need to score 3,4,5 and concede less", "we can't be so defensive". It reminds me of casuals who watch UFC and moan / dislike wrestlers like Khabib. "He's boring", "he doesn't fight properly". It's this child-like mentality of fighting = standing toe to toe swinging. I'd rather win a season with 1 goal wins than finishing 4th with nice looking fantasy football.
The real problem with the club is that we have lost all sense of identity. There is no personality in this team. No fighters. No characters. No one who makes you excited to tune in. It’s a largely lifeless, dull, group of perfectly fine players who put your feet to sleep. It’s why when we even see a tiny bit of fire/personality (Garnacho, for example) we immediately light up. This club used to have a wonderful, vibrant, specific personality. It fought. It was a team of hard men. Who had each other’s backs. And even if we lost, we never downed tools. They stood for something. It’s my biggest lament with being a fan these days - this team gives you no reason to tune in. We have become a dull, uninteresting club.
Simple really…I don’t know we are always making it seem like an impossible job when the fact is we just keep hiring managers that keep making the same mistakes again and again. 1. Going for big name signings that’s don’t fit the team. 2. Playing players out of position. 3. Favouritism and bias against certain players. 4. Throwing players under the bus. 5. Being stubborn with their tactics and team selection while taking no personal accountability. 6. No pressure because they know they won’t get sacked till after xmas no matter how dire the team is and when they do, they’re comfy with that sweet severance packet. Every single manager since SAF done the same thing and got sacked.
All that is well and good but you’re missing out a huge factor in Joel Glazer when you rationalise the processes within United. He is part of everything on paper and appears to be the least qualified.
Yes a sporting director is a must and an overhaul of the recruitment department. United's recruitment sucks. They have a really hard time identifying young players on the verge of a breakthrough. They just spend loads of money on hasbeens and mediocrity.
1. Glazers must leave theres no way around that 2. Get a proper director of football who's good at transfer business United has performed poorly on this getting scammed millions on average players get someone like Marina Granovskaia who did a good work at Chelsea 3. Get players who are willing to play for the badge not getting huge pays I dont know how we ended with a Mancity fan boy in our club in the name of Sancho 4. The manager must be respected and player discipline is paramount
I think recruitment has continued with these 'statement signings' like Casemiro which we pretend were still a big club on the pitch, we are not. 70 Million for Hojlund was ridiculous and he has been unable to fix our attack. There's many facets which must be fixed, but for me recruiting the right players at the right price is key. Plus, replacing and overhauling a side that just look like they don't want to be there anymore.
damn you guys copied me haha, the sporting director/football director/director of football is indeed one of the main problems at the club and has been for years.
Most important is wage structure. It’s a total mess and is stifling any progress. They want to sell Maguire and bring in Pavard…wages stopped it. FFP is a massive issue for the club. What a joke.
Excellent explanation of the reasons why the structure you outline is necessary for any football club that wants long-term viability at the highest level. The Glazers don't seem to grok any of this....they just dump most of responsibility on whatever manager is in place...and we have plenty of hard evidence that this don't work from the churn of managers we have seen. So the key missing point...that sits above all others...is 'to have owners that understand/care about the ensuing points you make'. And this is why the Glazers need to go. They treat Man Utd as a cash machine and, as long as it it is doing OK (eg near the top), they don't give a damn about real success on the pitch.....or indeed the fans who want this too. The Glazers are just plain thieves who have stolen the club from its fans. Their very dodgy 'business' dealings should be investigated/exposed by some proper journalists....and questions should be asked of the Football authorities and the UK Government as to why this level of greed/theft has been allowed to happen.
@BIazy Hmm...clearly not a football oriented person. Did you see the pictures of the flooding at OT the other day?...what a way to run a 'business'. Nah, the Glazers are simply thieves....daddy Malcolm was the godfather of this greed driven family.
I think point number five should have been point number one. It’s without a doubt the biggest issue on and off the field. It doesn’t take a sporting director to plan the evolution of a club. It takes common sense. The correct people would honestly fix 90% of the issues. The rest of the points are how to get from fourth to first.
The majority of Utd's squad is made up of players that cost the Glazers £0. Loans, free transfers, academy promotions and a few semi retired dinosaurs on small transfer fees and ridiculous wage deals. Pep hasn't had to work with one single loan/free transfer in his entire time at City

United have moved in the right direction in bringing in Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc. Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill need to be brought back in as active board members at United along with pushing standards. Paul Mitchell should be brought in as Sporting Director. Dan Ashworth as Technical Director. They also need to employee a world class Academy Director. Ten Hag is the right manager. He is trying to reintroduce standards back to Man United and it is being met with difficulty because people don't like change and don't want to be told what to do and to be disciplined. The United badge means something to a lot of people and with the right people in place, United will be back in the right direction.
How to fix MU? a) sell lazy players who don't even bother to come to training on time. b) sell players who are lazy on matches, who don't even put any effort to run or chase players. c) replace the occasionally good players with actual real talented, consistent players. d) invest on better training facilities, Ronaldo said the facilities remain the same as when he was there a decade ago. e) Glazers are blood sucking leeches who don't put any money nor effort into the club, they really need to go. This may sound controversial, but bring back Mourinho. He is the closest one to get MU back to the top, he actually know what he's doing. He might be tactically boring, or noisy, but who cares when the trade off is MU isn't as pathetic as they're right now. Be patient with Mou and you can get result. Also, don't expect immediate result. MU have so many problems it will take years to fix. Another thing I think MU should do is to get PL proven players. Since MU don't know how to develop talents, stick to the proven players.
Sporting directors are the biggest joke in football. In Portugal, Roger Smidth asked for a LB. They bought one he doesn't use for 10millions. When asked why he doesn't play he said "it was the board of bought him" wtf, players should be hand picked by the managers, the Sporting director should work for the manager.
😂😂😂... I don't believe. Jim raatclllifee buying 25% stake even after January transfer winndddow...... Buying Deadwood of eeveeryyy club at premium price.... Mount Antony onannna poor buys ...
but MU fan refuse to accept failure thus unable to implement any sort of long term result. MU need to suffer few season to get back to their former glory. LOOK AT ARSENAL AND LIVERPOOL AS EXAMPLE.
Its strange at Man U, it seems like an attitude and confidence problem. I would have loved if they kept OGS, he was a good mix of personality, history, player management and skills imo. I still remember how he was yelling at Lingard "One more time and you're fkn off".
Just kick Bruno Shaw McTominay Rashford and start the rebuild. Forget about challenging for title and European football. Once these clowns are gone, United will be back....at least they have a better chance. With them around there will be 0% for glory
You can't, it's too far gone and would take far too much additional money. They will just keep binning managers as they are cheaper to replace than the playing squad. Too many bad transfer dealings, paying too much in fee and wages for bang average players. Club is a total mess from top to bottom, and how much is it going to cost to renovate/replace Old Trafford? as it it is badly in need of it.
You keep saying "new" sporting director, as if the role already exists, but it doesn't. That's the key issue at United currently. Have a look down their board of directors and you'll see that they're all Glazer family members or bankers and lawyers. Not a single person who has final say in the running of the club has any idea about football. That's the fundamental issue here.
@@PhantomRaspberryBlower last season was very different tho
I would have given a limb to have Monchi at Liverpool, what he did at Sevilla was a miracle

He change his main assistant every 2 to 4 years, someone usually young, to always I imagine challenge his knowledge and never become in late with innovation
Plus, it was never him alone : it was him for the sporting department, and David Gill for the financial one. We always forget Gill but he was here since 1997 and he leave at the same time than SAF.
So based on the video you watched, what is the reason behind the club's downfall??
Yes SAF was doing the job of 2/3 men on his own
A Football Director lol
Something so simple, yet under the idiotic Glazers, a phrase missing from their vocabulary.
@@shadow_realm47 100% Agree
The Glazers have wasted £60 million on sacking managers and their backroom staff in just 10 years.
Given ETA may not last the season, it could be higher soon.
UTD could've had one of the best sporting directors in Rangnick who would've in his words perform "open heart surgery" on the club, instead of doing that they bottled it put 2 experienced guys in charge and threw ETH into the deep end
ETH didn't want rangnick
@@xixReactguess what? That’s exactly how a club shouldn’t be run. The tail shouldn’t wag the dog. I’m sure Ten Hag would’ve loved to have guys like Julian Alvarez who Ragnick wanted United to sign.

This is evident from the long term

Chelsea have been considering the short term but its not gone to plan. Yes they signed a lot of young players who aren’t the finished product but they also signed ‘win now’ players like Sterling and Nknuku and already had experienced players in Silva, James and Chilwell. They’re trying to blend youth with experience.
Good video, Jon. Notice how none of these include sacking the manager.
Food for thought for some of our more trigger-happy brethren.
"Trigger happy"
Dude.. .United have lost over HALF of their games this season.... that's not trigger happy, that's a pretty reasonable trigger if you ask me.
What the hell are you smoking?!
you can only fix United by the following:
1. infinity stones snap the glazers out
2. time travel and take out baby glazer
3. Clone a 1999 Sir Alex
Excellent idea, why didn't anyone else think of that? 😂
It's the only way
Better 5-Point Plan:
- Wave Norwich scarves around
- Call the manager a bald fraud
- Tell Rashford he should put as much effort into football as he does feeding the poor
- Make everything Onana's fault
- Spend 100 million on a player that will in no way suit the system
His legacy is a trophy room, on the field his legacy was rubbish.
as a man united fan in my opinion the club needs is:
1. a long term project and a manager: i'm okay with finishing mid table for a few seasons if that guarantees success for a coming decade or 2, what we really need a footballing identity and not signing players here and there, signing players who would adapt into the system and coordinate with the manager and play some actual football
2. better medical team: ten hag still hasn't played his best XI because of the injury crisis we have been since the start of the season
3. better training facilities: because of poor training facilities our players get injured more often, even some championship clubs have better training facilities than carrington
4. a better scouting team and academy: we should also be finding top talents from europa and latin america and training them to world beaters rather than relying on other clubs, clubs like barca manage to stay in top 2 most of the time even during an injury crisis because they have a world class academy, and clubs like ajax, brighton, dortmund, etc. sell their academy players with huge potential for big money which helps them in the market too (although ik ajax have been in some turmoil lately)
5. a proper sporting director: signing of mason mount still hasn't made any sense and his performances have been poor, we need a sporting director who would work with the manager and the board for signing the best talents around europe who would fit in the system rather than signing just for the sake of it
6. removing deadwood: club needs to be more strict with removing deadwood, phil jones basically spent his entire career sitting on the bench for united, maguire might get a new contract because of his promising performances lately, rashford got a new contract because of a 3 month purple patch, united really need to move on from players

agree - manchester united have been notoriously bad at getting rid of players until they leave on a free transfer or outstayed their welcome. too much player power in dressing room which has contributed to an entitled and toxic team culture that is cancerous. how anthony martial has outlasted so many managers defies belief. but you can throw other names that are deadwood like lingard, bailly, van de beek

Dear Tifo
As I have been a keen observer of your videos and content, I have a humble request ,which I believe is on behalf of the entirety of the audience....FIX THAT DAMN MESSI JERSEY!!!
Honestly it’s so simple but everyone apart from the people in charge can see it.
Clear out the entire playing squad who everyone KNOWS have too much power & very little hunger to prove themselves. Rashford, sancho etc
A proper wage structure, stop paying excessive wages where the base pay is already 200k+ , have performance based incentives. Why are rashford , sancho etc going to care if they have a bad game when they still get 250k+ a week regardless of if they have a stinker or MOTM performance.
Sign players who have the right character and are hungry to improve and have the correct mentality. Take chances on players before they make the move to a Brighton, psv , Ajax etc
Imagine United had sign caicedo before Brighton, you’ve got a CDM for 4.5M for the next 10 years and you don’t need to go and sign Casemiro for £70M, Alvarez for £15M you don’t then need to sign Rasmus for £72M.
And last of all get players that suit the system you want to play and clear out the ones that don’t, there’s no point wanting to play tiki taka but your starting midfielder is Mctominay , no point playing out from the back and a high line if your CB’s lack pace and are confident on the ball to play out from the keeeper.
I like watching Jon Mackenzie explain things. He always does this little body wiggle thing when he's talking
Like an overgrown chicken.
They just need a full rebuild. Liverpool and Arsenal have shown that the clubs successful in the 90s/2000s are very old fashioned until you get the long term, visionary manager in and turn the club over to them. Utd keep trying to short cut their way back to the top but everything is so far behind other clubs now that it'll take a few years - no more Varane, Ronaldo or Casemiro signings, they need modern players who could fit in at the better clubs (Maguire for example cannot play in a good attacking team because of his limitations)
They need to get a new young manager in give him the reigns for 4 years, take their lumps and let him rebuild all parts of the club just like Klopp and Arteta have.

I'd rather win a season with 1 goal wins than finishing 4th with nice looking fantasy football.
why the backround music so loud and why even have it in the first place in tactical analysis xD
Nothing will happen because Glazers won't allow any of this.
I like the t shirt / tie combo personally
Well, see you later, innovator
I got distracted by the costume and could you speak a little faster please...
Yes, we have no identity because we don't have a Sporting Director driving the identity and vision of the club
what if the Sporting director is hired and fired the same way the manager is?
I like to think that's how Jon would dress at the Tifo Christmas party
You are wise and weird😂. I like it
Simple really…I don’t know we are always making it seem like an impossible job when the fact is we just keep hiring managers that keep making the same mistakes again and again.
This video is amazing how clearly and easily I understand the importance of sports director
All that is well and good but you’re missing out a huge factor in Joel Glazer when you rationalise the processes within United. He is part of everything on paper and appears to be the least qualified.
This is just bla bla bla
Glazers: not my problem
Glazers: but we’re rebuilding the stadium…oh wait, that’s for the Buccaneers.
Seeing this video, Txiki deserves a statue
Yes a sporting director is a must and an overhaul of the recruitment department. United's recruitment sucks. They have a really hard time identifying young players on the verge of a breakthrough. They just spend loads of money on hasbeens and mediocrity.
We miss ralf ragnick already. So true in what he said
A lot of houses have been fed by doing this same video for the last decade. Man ubited truly is a great club.
I think this subtle (and welcome) audition from Jon for the Sporting Director job @ UTD should be taken seriously.
It would best help Man U if Ferguson managed for 2 years.
I don't think we need to focus energy on the women's team at all, it's the men's team that brings in the fans and money
I love you jon but what the hell is that fit
1. Glazers must leave theres no way around that
2. Get a proper director of football who's good at transfer business United has performed poorly on this getting scammed millions on average players get someone like Marina Granovskaia who did a good work at Chelsea
3. Get players who are willing to play for the badge not getting huge pays I dont know how we ended with a Mancity fan boy in our club in the name of Sancho
Finally the job interview video they've been building up to all these years. Good luck, smart tie.
Most important is wage structure. It’s a total mess and is stifling any progress.
They want to sell Maguire and bring in Pavard…wages stopped it.
FFP is a massive issue for the club. What a joke.
jon not having a collar is pretty funny looking but that is the single best tie i've ever seen
Jon has entered his Saul Goodman era
I think point number five should have been point number one. It’s without a doubt the biggest issue on and off the field. It doesn’t take a sporting director to plan the evolution of a club. It takes common sense. The correct people would honestly fix 90% of the issues. The rest of the points are how to get from fourth to first.
Man United have the kind of money that Arsenal are Liverpool only can dream of and still they are better. Imagine if they had Man United money ! !
Imagine if United was well-run like any of the other top teams!
The majority of Utd's squad is made up of players that cost the Glazers £0. Loans, free transfers, academy promotions and a few semi retired dinosaurs on small transfer fees and ridiculous wage deals. Pep hasn't had to work with one single loan/free transfer in his entire time at City
@@jhpfdijtuiweruot 75 mil anthony, 80 mil maguire, 40 mil shaw, 70 mil sancho, 30 mil lindelof, 30 mil varane, 60 mil casemiro, 70 mil hojland, 20mil dalot, 50 mil wan bissaka, 50 mil onana, 60 mil mount, 30 mil ganarcho, 30 mil pellestri, 13 mil malacia, 40 mil Martinez, Bruno Fernandez 55 mil, but yeah frees, youth players and loans...
Wearing a tie over a t shirt is a travisty
I‘m not sure about the tie without a shirt but good video though
Why serious?
Simple ... United should just sign CEO of AS Monaco .. hhhhha
first of all, what is this tie 😂😂😂
Finally understanding the song brianstorm
The insincere self aware ‘comedy’ of your videos undermines the hard work that goes into your content and left me feeling patronised
he knows what he's talking about; he matched his tie with his pocket square!
but MU fan refuse to accept failure thus unable to implement any sort of long term result.
