amazing structural method ... I had hoped to learn more about “wear” and finishing techniques. It seems material choices, and colors are very important to the final appearance as, other than darkening with a pencil, there seems to be no other color added. Very well done,
Indeed that's because cardboard is not a good material when it comes to that part unfortunately, like at all... Painting them would make all the imperfections much more visible, and they would end up looking like crafts made by a young child lol to a certain extent... that's why I don't or I only use pencils. Besides If I wanted to paint them to make perfect replicas, I would simply use different materials like EVA foam, resin, plastic or even wood, the result would be a way better and the work easier too. but of course it wouldn't be aligned with the topic of this channel which is making props using cardboard only! :)
@@EpicCardboardProps Not necessarily. whilst i agree EVA foam, resin etc would have a better finish - it is possible to have a nice finish with a cardboard build, you just need to put something over the top :) When I made my Majoras Mask out of cardboard, I made a paste out of white glue and plain flour which I smoothed over and dried with a heat gun (you could probably let it air dry but I was far too impatient for that!) - I then prepped the build with 2-3 coats of gesso and painted with acrylic paint :)
