- Few weeks ago I recieved my NERF LMTD ALIENS M41-A Blaster from Hasbro. I wasn't disapointed when unboxing that puppy but, of course, I had to make it...well, better!
Not seaking screen accuracy but to make something cool. Cheers!

Here's a little recap. First, fill all the hole with body filler. (red stuff/Bondo) Sand. Prime everything. Paint everything with satin black. Paint the "beige" with Rust-Oleum Nutmeg (not screen accurate but close enough for me) and then, weathering. Rub and buff for the metal scracthes. Washes with acrylic paint mixed with water. Rust powder and finaly, a clear coat to seal everything. Cheers!

My first thought was "he's going for the actual correct colour". Jonathan Ferguson the curator of firearms & artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum mentioned that on one of his videos. That said I still prefer the OG look to the brown regardless of what the reality was.

funny thing is when you showed what you were doing I never thought of the pulse rifle in any other color than what you're showing. Didn't even think about green until you brought it up.
It was not humbrol brown Bess but close to it. Paint was mixed by a factory in Slough and painted by a prop guy I work withs brother he has some original item painted that were from the set. He bought one it on to Ghostbusters last year and I had a good close look, it has a tad more green than brown Bess but just a tiny amount
In Alien 3 they were black.

Very cool. Wont it be easier if you disassemble the gun before painting. Avoid damaging firing mechanism.

hello, at min 3:52 you hold up rustoleum painters choice 2x in a satin finish... but what is the name of the color used? I tried to pause it on the frame but it is blurry due to my connection. Also, I am digging this build to the point where it inspired me to pick up one of these!

Hi, I had to tell you that I love this mod video! I found it then lost it again and now I've found you again.
I started my Aliens gun mod this month and I was wondering if you could just give me some more details about your materials. I have finished all my filling/sanding, etc. I have the nutmeg paint, but that's as far as I've gotten. You said "washes with acrylic paint mixed with water"- what color(s)?
Even though I loathe the idea of having to sand MORE, I see the little screws on yours and I desperately want to do that to mine! ((takes notes))
Hello Amanda! Thanks for reaching out! The wash I use is always dark brown with a little black to mimic the dirt/sand. As for the screws, any cool metric cool screws would do but look for Hex Button Head screw on Amazon. I hope it helped! Cheers!
And for the big bolts: 12.9 Alloy Steel Screw Cap Point Hex Socket Screws Bolts Black Oxide Finish 1.25mm . You'll have to cut le lenght. Cheers!

Hello there! The filler is called Bondo. It's a car body filler. For the dust, I used 2 different. The first one is rust powder that I make myself. (I have a short that shows how I make it) The second one, fullers earth or clay powder. Cheers!

I was surprised to see you do the whole paintjob without taking it apart as I have seen others do and would have guessed was the obvjous thing to do, but you filled up the toy screw holes to make it look way more realistic.
Very inspiring! Bit unfortunate that the video doesn't show how you completed the paint job without removing the pump grip. Can't figure that out myself from watching it.

Oh man, that is a hell of a job. Santa brought me one of these too, and I would LOVE to give it a similar treatment since it does look like a toy as-is. My skills are nowhere near yours, though. I think I'll find a couple used NERF guns at the thrift store to practice on first. :)

This is so cool. I really wish someone would finally make an M41a replica/pro/toy thing that fully functioned! The Nerf one is probably the best to the stock not extending kinda sucks, and the Airsoft one that's been out and rebranded over and over for like 15 years doesnt have a functioning underbarrel. Both are SO close. IIRC there was a kit way back that allowed you to use an Airsoft Thompson reciever and a sawn off Airsoft 870 to build to totally accurate one just like how the props were made, but the finish project would be like $1500.
