    I couldn't put this book down because I was expecting something mad to happen towards the end and I couldn't wait to find out what it was, and then it just ended... so disappointing

    I’m a quarter of the way into this book and I’m loving it so far - despite agreeing with many of your points! That said, I enjoy the writing style. Thanks for your review 📚

      I think it’s always nice to hear different perspectives so thanks for letting us know that you’re enjoying it so far. Id love to know what you think when you’ve finished it xx

      OK, I just finished it. I still loved it (unlike a lot of booktube). I found the mundanity at the beginning portentous in retrospect, the second half of the book I found to be tense, unexpected, creepy. I think this book is an interesting thought experiment. It might just be me though and I’m here for the debate! NB: I’m with you on the weird gratuitous references!

      @@zoeclapp I agree that it’s quite unnerving in the second half of the book but for me, it was too ambiguous and I didn’t get on board with the writing style at all but like I said before, I like hearing different perspectives so thanks for updating us and I’m glad you enjoyed it! What’s next?! Xx

    It’s nice to watch you vocalise exactly how I felt about this book, I liked the ending but I had too many questions and some of the descriptions were very randomly sexual out of nowhere 😅

      It’s been one of the stranger books I’ve read this year for sure!

    Just finished this and had to look up some reviews to see what I was missing. Totally agreed with your review, which was a relief, as thought it was just me who was missing something! So unsatisfying, loads of plot holes and really unlikeable, one dimensional characters. All they do is make a lot of meals and bicker. The only good thing about it was the premise, which had so much potential but sadly let down pretty quickly. Looking forward to checking out some of your other reviews.

      Agreed! Loads of potential but quite a let down. Onwards and upwards to the next book now - I hope that one is better!

    I read this book in 2 days because it was so boring I had to finish it quickly. I also vow not to DNF a book. I made comments on the pages about the unnecessary word usage and had to look up a few. I gave my book review to my daughter as I was handing it to her to read and said almost verbatim what your review was. I really sat here nodding my head while listening to your review. My final comment was that certainly if this is being made into a movie with A list stars, they must have found a really good screenwriter and deviated widely from the book.

    • @officialblondebookworm
      @officialblondebookworm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is very true. It will be interesting to see how they approach the film but if it’s anything like the book, I don’t think it will be for us! Onwards and upwards- I hope the next book you pick up is better 🤞🏻

    I understand books with slightly ambiguous endings, although I don't enjoy them, and this was not at all one of those endings! For a book that LOVED to go on for 4 pages about G.W saying "We're sorry to bother you," I was shocked that the explanation for the apocalypse took one paragraph- and not even that. It just rambled on about people suffering or not knowing what's happening. And that's it! Disappointing.

    I agree completely. A story should have a beginning, middle and end. This book, however, does not have an end. The suspense came in the last few chapters, it felt as if he just got bored of writing and missed out the end. It’s a shame because he could have done so much with the storyline. So much potential, completely lost.

    I thought this book was okay when I was reading it but I’m so mad at the ending. The characters were extremely sexiest and racist. I was even thinking at one point that they were all going to turn into flamingos because of the pink vomit and things weird weird book
