    Great project with real problems and mistakes. You and your Mom seem to be the professionals.

    I’m planning a combined garage and garden room build, including doing all the Groundworks so found your video incredibly helpful. Absolutely no surprises on your experience with contractors and this is the very reason why I’m doing as much of it myself as possible but I will be contracting for the cement pour and just hope I can find that rare combination of quality reliability and integrity…

    Currently trying to source contractors to build my garage, or my slab in Ontario. Great video. Thanks!

    Hey! Did you do a video for the garage build? Are the plans up?

    This is great, going to see if I can do something like this in Caledon... any chance you could link the drawings please? 🙏

    Is so easy to do concrete in the east side of Canada, they don't worry about reebar, thickening edges with Upright bars and propper ties . They just come with little wire mesh, set it , cut it and there you go !
    I see some dowels sticking up from the concrete pad , they could do the curb and floor at once , but I guess is just simple this way .

    Don't even get me started on professional contractors. I do stuff myself. If I can't, I still do it.

    Anyone;
    I have an existing shed/garage which is sitting on railway ties. I need to remove clay about 4ft b4 putting in a concrete slab. Do I also need to excavate under where the blocks will be?

    Do you have any idea where I can find the building codes in Ontario?

      Don't do it buddy. :D You should look for some European instructions. This is really bad :(

      I have all the footage, just haven't had time to out it together. My mother passes away last year so it's been tough to keep up.

    This is a huge height of concrete. For my garage i'm planning of having just 5-8 cm

    I feel bad for you. It's so common in todays world with contractors. Thats why i prefer to do mostly everything myself. That GC is a hack. You can always write a bad review and file a complaint.

      Thank you. Sadly he didn't have business page to drop a review. It's tough finding anyone good anymore. Recently did my driveway, used armour stone along the side and front portions. Tried to find someone and the rates were just ridiculous, not to mention wait times or trying to get returned calls. Ended up renting a machine, a friend of mine helped me and we did it in a morning. Ended up saving probably $4000.

    It’s a shame you always gotta helicopter contractors.

    Sorry to say but that concrete contractor you had is not the best , finishing does not look properly done .

      Finally :D Someone noticed :D This is so bad :D I give this slab a 15 years, out of 400 potential. The problem is - people in USA are used to buildings lasting 15 years, that they do not understand that concrete should last for 200 at least :D. But hey. You should understand that they have no where to learn. The whole continent is made from wood and metal.
