All I know is that, whoever initially broke Vessel for him to go down this path, and as heartbreaking as it is to see someone fall like he has, Vessel’s lyrics have resonated and healed others who have also fallen. I feel like I fall apart and am put back together in a different pattern every time I listen to Sleep Token. I’ve never known a band that breaks and heals at the same time.
You nailed it. I've never encountered another band who fully encapsulated how broken my last relationship left me. 14 years ago and the catharsis of Vessel's lyrics and feeling so fucking SEEN and not alone in the grief and anger and self loathing is healing me somehow. I just saw them at Red Rocks and I was sobbing.
@BOD513 "whoever initially broke Vessel for him to go down this path" - although for sure whoever possibly could be Sleep had broken him, but not alone. I'm pretty sure he did it to himself too; I resonate strongly with the whole lore and from my experience it's both people hurting themselves and each other. Of course your point still stands
Drag Me Under is easily one of the most beautiful Sleep Token songs that's ever been made. Also when you're done with Sundowning and This Place Will Become Your Tomb, go back to Sleep Tokens EPs One and Two because they also tie in with the story Vessel is telling. Great reaction
@@horizon6552 - When the Bough Breaks was the first ST to really hit me. Hard. It seemed to parallel the narrative of my life at the time, and so one day I listened to it for 4 hours straight and had a complete mental breakdown/emotional cleansing. I have been madly in love with that song ever since. It seems like the brothers have had a lot of the same life/love experiences that most of us have endured - so I’m excited to see how they react to the songs that trigger those memories.
Its definitely a worship song. Absolute devotion of love and adoration of who ever is his focus. His love makes the heavens jealous with their beauty. Vessel is desperately, achingly, obsessed with them.
When he played this song live he had a message to the audience playing about how he got a message from one of us saying You saved me, and he responded that no WE Saved HIM
Some of the lyrics about Angels being lost for words and Gods leaving the Heavens to find them, really make me think is related to “My past is a holy book, call from Olympus ringing off the hook” from Aqua Regia. I think Vessel understands he has strayed from the right path and he feels like the Gods and trying to call him back.
This song is just a beautiful shepherd that puts you in exactly the right mood to be completely obliterated emotionally by Blood Sport. It’s not one you’re gonna go back to often, but after you hear Blood Sport, you might see Drag Me Under in a different way. It’s a song that serves its exact purpose perfectly.
@@jen-nahnuhnah7613 I always speak for myself and was just referring to their response to the song. They don’t have a single song I don’t listen to any chance I get, including Drag Me Under.
This is one of those songs where it's elevated by just closing your eyes. In terms of the story I really believe that Vessel is entwined with a woman who is leading him on... Pulling him back and forth, crashing over him and then retreating like tidal waves
I think Sleep Token's music is written in such a way that it can be taken two ways: 1) about a human relationship between two people, and 2) between a God and their worshiper. Either way, I'm into it. 😂
I really don't believe in the "Lore" but think it's about a relationship between Vessel and a woman who he was madly in love with but she didn't feel the same. I think she strung him along, maybe used him for a while, not sure since he'll probably never talk about it. But I think it was a toxic relationship that has taken him YEARS to get over and come to terms with by the time you get to Euclid.
@aleasha.k.b I think you're right. I happen to have looked up who Vessel is, and I won't give it away here, but I think if you read more about him and his past, this definitely, seemingly fits his life's journey up to now. I won't say for certain because who actually knows, but it definitely COULD be the case, ya know? I think thr song Aqua Regia all but comes out and blatantly says such. Haha
We also know who he is, and I agree. Seeing what I have seen makes me think she was his eden/goddess. His lyrics tend to sway in a toxic relationship, and him not knowing what to do almost. I also think that's why I'm so into it. Been down that road.
Good call on having the lyrics up. This song is absolutely gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous song to have in the background when you’re with that special person. The line “I know the god’s will abandon the heavens just to find us” is so powerful to me
This is my number one favourite song by them because it’s so pretty and beautiful. The opening lines get me every time 🥲 also fun fact: The Summoning does a call back to this song. In the Summoning he sings “raise me up again” and obviously in this song he sings “drag me under again.” Both line are sung the same way (I’m not good with song-writing language) but” Raise me up again” starts low to high voice, and “Drag me under again” is sung high to low - however the way he sings “again” is done the exact same way in both songs! I love that Vessel did that. They really are purposeful and detailed with their songs 💜
@@TheMrCaden101 No problem!! :) it irked me how the "again" in the summoning sounded familiar for a while, and the way I felt when I figured it out... man...
Hell yes! I jumped when I saw the notification. Now to watch. He did a two song reaction in one video and it accomplished exactly what this community already knows about how special that song is - in both ways. Also, the Room Below version of this song is devastating. I can’t wait for you to get to the Lafayette show someday… I have never cried at a live show that happened another continent away. 😂😭
This is a song I have to be in a very specific mood for it. There are a few songs of this speed that they have done, and it's like I have multiple playlists within sleep token for all of my moods. It's why I've listened to nothing but then for the last 9 months, because they scratch every damn itch. This song is gorgeous. It's beautiful and heartbreaking and full of love. And I saw a theory that while yes they are here under the pretense of Sleep, vessel is a man conveying /his/ emotions. And that this is all about a lover he lost, and he believes it is his own fault, and he only sees her in his dreams, thus his longing for Sleep
I was today years old when I realized his descending melody on the word "Again" in the chorus here mirrors the descending melody of the word "again" in The Summoning. "Drag Me Under" to TPWBYT, "Raise Me Up" to TMBTE. You clever, clever man Vessel...
Words cannot describe how beautiful this song is ♥️ This band can stir your soul, lift your spirits & break your heart all in one hit!! Everything about them leaves me in awe of the amazing talent that this band truly has. I'm not one to cry at songs... but damn Vessel's voice gets me every single time. Stunning ❤

Finally, we're here! Next up, Bloodsport. You mentioned you won't react to both versions, and I'm hoping you choose the "From the Room Below" version. It has a music video and is hauntingly beautiful. I only cried the first 37 times I watched it 😅 Can't wait for your reaction!
Dry much enjoying you guys reacting to SleepToken…has anyone mentioned to you yet about the EPs that came before the albums? Worth a delve into, all part of the puzzle.
Once your journey of going through all the Sleep Token songs is finished, you should totally check out the Sleep Study podcast! The host goes through every song and analyzes the lyrics! One things he’s pointed out is that there are some lyrics where it’s the deity talking, and some where it’s vessel. And that fact has changed so much for me when it comes to understanding their music better ❤️
Love that you are doing the songs in order. For sure gives you the feel of the whole project instead of jumping around from song to song. I highly recommend Jaws. Its a single before sundowning. I think thats where they found their “sound”. Top 5 song of theirs for me. It would be a good one to do after blood sport and before the 2nd album. Also, its basiclly a show off song for the drummer, he goes insane
Not my favorite song by itself, but in the context of the full album it fits perfectly. Hope you guys do both versions of Bloodsport in one video. It's great to hear the difference.
This is one of my favourites, even tho it's so so hard to pick, but this one just instantly gets me in the feels, it's so touchingly beautiful, it's great to meditate to as well. When my friend listened to it for the first time, she said something along the lines of what Eric said, she said his voice pulled her in almost like in a transe and then at the end released her, so yeah kinda like coming back to the surface. So beautiful and powerful.
This song feel intimate to me. It’s like we’re listening into prayer meant only for him and whoever the recipient is. It is beautiful, but in a very quiet, understated way.
From Sundowning I consider this, Take Aim and Say That You Will to be the biggest dark horses. They're all spine-tinglingly good but don't attract the same attention as others. This one always makes me feel like I'm floating serenely on the surface of the ocean, but with a melancholy edge
OH YES, Take Aim especially is so slept on. It's so short but it's so good. The lyrics aren't vast but they get so much across. I fucking love this band lmao
I want to talk about how I personally associate this album and the entire Sleep Token discography with my personal life and how it managed to make me face things I've kept hidden for so long. There are no spoilers or any added theories about the Sleep Token lore though! Sundowning is a very emotional album for me and Drag Me Under makes me feel emotions I haven't felt in a very long time. Personally, when I first heard the album title, I didn't think much of it until I heard the first track, The Night Does Not Belong to God. When I was younger, I lost someone incredibly important to me. That situation changed me negatively. But things got worse when her husband became ill and developed Alzheimer's. I somehow clung on to him to be my constant reminder of the memories I had with both of them. But of course, he started to forget everything, even me. When someone develops Alzheimer's, one of the symptoms would be sundowning. When the sun sets, they turn into someone else. So when I first listened to The Night Does Not Belong to God and heard the lyrics, "and you remember everything, only 'til the sun recedes once again," I bawled my eyes out. He would remember me when the sun was up, but he would turn into a different person when the sun sets; "the whites of your eyes, turn black in the lowlight." After he passed, I knew I was the only one who had those memories and I couldn't ask anyone else if what I remembered were actually what happened anymore. Basically, my whole world became empty. Drag Me Under was exactly how I felt during the moments where I was alone. Wishing that I could lay with them instead. Their whole discography perfectly describes the life I've lived for a long time. Especially their second album. Don't worry I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't listened to it yet! 😄 The second album really felt like the darkest times of my life. Thankfully, I am slowly finding my footing again in life. I really owe it to Sleep Token though for "validating" my struggles. They made me feel less alone. Maybe, the ones I lost sent their music to me! I like to think that. Worship
Thank you for doing these reactions. I have never heard of Sleep Token until you guys and now it is literally one of my very favorite bands. I've put them on replay on my music apps. ❤ Love you guys!
Have been patiently, but eagerly waiting for you guys to get to this song. Personally my favorite Sleep Token song and in my opinion their most beautiful song they've made yet. I Enjoyed listening to your analysis and breakdown of the song, this song is very distinct from the rest of their discography, yet somehow Vessel managed to make it still fit within the context of the album. The moment I realized there is a callback to this song in The Summoning absolutely blew my mind. "Drag me under again" and "Raise me up again" parallel phrases with the same vocal pattern and similar delivery, such a subtle, yet amazing callback. Have been enjoying watching your journey through Sundowning and can't wait to see you react to Bloodsport and progress into TPWBYT and the rest of what Sleep Token has to offer!
No they haven't yet, Kyle said if Sleep Token has done it, they will react to it, but the only single they've done is Hey Ya (ST's cover of the Outkast song).
Also, I can not wait till you get to Atlantic, which i think is the best Sleep Token song front to back. The lyrics absolutely crush and the sound is unreal.
This song is really beautiful but I think it gets overshadowed by Blood Sport. You’ll know soon enough. Still vote for a double-header of both versions of the song in one. Studio then Room Below right after really hits hard and you’ll appreciate it so much more. BUT I’ll love it however y’all do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Please do both versions of Blood Sport in one video....the recorded and the room below versions. You'll really appreciate each one more...since they are different and you'll notice the differences more that way. I think Blood Sport is my favorite Sleep Token song. I really can't wait for you guys to hear it.
Drag Me Under is the finale to Sundowning, where Bloodsport is the Epilogue. Drag Me Under is Vessel doing the actual “attempt”, and Atlantic is the waking/realizing the “attempt” failed. If you know you know.
Another great Sleep Token reaction guys! I knew you'd like this one, I love watching Kyle fight not to just vibe out with his eyes closed vs. his need to read the lyrics, lol! The next 2 songs are both Bloodsports, and though I'd love for you to do both in one video, I think it would take away some of the emotional weight to do them together. I know not everyone will agree with me on that though.
Maybe you can shoot the reaction for the original Bloodsport then wait a day or two and do the room below version and combine them in editing? That way you have a chance to absorb the 1st before doing the "acoustic" room below version, but it will satisfy the fans who want both versions in 1 video?
I love everything Sleep Token does, but TPWBYT is still my favorite album. Listening to any of their albums start to finish is a journey. Please when you do Bloodsport, do both versions in one video so you can compare. Both need to be heard.
you guys talking about already reacting to Alkaline made me remember that you both said you listened to Chokehold and Hypnosis after hearing Will Ramos' covers of them, so will you do a reaction to Hypnosis when you react to the next album? I'd love to hear any thoughts you have on it but I get it if you dont :)
First time I listened through this album it was 3 in the morning, and drag me under had me floored. Put it on repeat for a few nights to help me sleep. Really hits u deep and sets u up to get completely wrecked by bloodsport. Whole album reminds me of the stages of grief, this one being bargaining and depression. Beautiful song
Nicely done fellas!! One more!! PLEASE DO THE STUDIO FIRST!! Then do the room below after…. BLOODSPORT = STUDIO 1st This journey has been amazing, I’m always here for it, can’t wait for bloodsport and for the next album, I’m so glad to be here too. This song just showcases Vessel and his incredible vocal range, it’s insane how amazing his talent is.
I just love the simplicity. Nice reaction, as always! WRT Blood Sport. I know everyone has an opinion, but I love the “from the room below” version because you get to see Vessel perform which adds another layer to that song. But regardless can’t wait to see that reaction.
I love eeevery single song from sleeptoken. I love all of their styles of their songs. Reaaaallly love these kinds of melodic high noted high pitched sounds but their lyrics nvr fail to ooen uo your mind but just love and adore their songs and lyrics. Just brings out so many emotions m, but also a lot of memories from my past, and some of my present, along with what the future holds, but mostly my past.. they have an amazing sound and i love how all of their songs are nver exactly the same. And his vocal abikities arnejust smazingly beautiful and heartwrenching??? Im gonna call it cuz itnhits me str8 in the feelerz every single time, bo matter how they sound, just amazing voice control. 😂😊❤😍🥰☺️🤗 Anywhoo, I've been adhd babbling and looping so im out! Great reaction yet again guys! I know what you mean Eric about not being my favourite song, but once you guys get through the next album you will be able to listen to the entire trilogy in order. You will see how every song has its place in the story, if that makes sense? Wooo, Yoda got deep for a second...lol
This song triggers a thought in my mind where there was a separate plane of existence where there were multiple Gods and multiple mortal beings, and each God would grant a single favour to one mortal, every other mortal requested something that was physically attainable like strength or wealth for example, whereas one mortal who went by Vessel requested to eternally, be with Sleep, another Goddess, which they couldn't grant nor deny, which left Vessel in the very limbo that he's been in from the beginning, where the Gods simply observe him, as he can only observe her, Sleep, the love which he is full of, which he can never act on, and so the only way he can express his emotions to Sleep is through Apparitions, and to truly connect with Sleep, he needs to achieve Ascensionism.
“And I know the angels tonight are as lost for words As I am to merely behold you as we lie down together Drag me under again Deep in to your love, oh And I know the gods will abandon the heavens just to find us To merely behold you as we lie down together Drag me under again Deep in to your love, oh Hold me beneath the surface (And I know the angels tonight are as lost for words) Deep in to your love (As I am to merely behold you as we lie down together)”
Since you guys didn't pick up on it "DRAG me UNDER again Deeper into your embrace" Is the same melody as "RAISE me UP again Take me past the edge" in the summoning
I honestly expect you guys to have the same reaction to This place will become your tomb as a lot of the original reactions were. Expecting tons on surprises on the album like Take Me Back to Eden but to find a more consistent sound with nothing really mind boggling but an incredible album nonetheless in TPWBYT. Let’s we if it’s true.

An amazing song. I’m listening blind through most of their older stuff with ya. So it’s a treat for me as well
Sleep Token is just perfection. I fall asleep the their whole discography every night. Great video guys!
loving going on this Sleep Token journey with you all. Check out Calcutta, its truly a beautiful song and one of their earlier EPs.
Just a divine song.......drift away listening to it. Can't wait until Bloodsport! Eric lol 😆
Please listen to Jaws by Sleep Token guys. It is a single. Love you guys
I love this song and you guys! Glad you enjoyed it! Worship 💜🎶🙏
Oh and have you seen the live version!? It bloody broke me! 😱🙏💜🎹

Thank you for doing these reactions. I have never heard of Sleep Token until you guys and now it is literally one of my very favorite bands. I've put them on replay on my music apps. ❤ Love you guys!
I absolutely love you guys reacting to ST. They speak to your soul and bring out so many emotions. This is absolutely beautiful and gorgeous 😭😭😭
I love this song hell I love all the songs definitely dominated my spotify listening this year. Another great reaction from you guys.
Such a beautiful one. They flow so well through the album 🖤
No real comment besides great reaction, and to feed the algorithm
Good Morning, John! 😊☕️
@@rykerroadMOM3123good afternoon!!
Wait till you get to Atlantic, that song opens up the second album like CRAAAZY dude. 9 have you done their single Jaws or EPs One and Two? )
Let's gooooo
This song is really beautiful but I think it gets overshadowed by Blood Sport. You’ll know soon enough.
Still vote for a double-header of both versions of the song in one. Studio then Room Below right after really hits hard and you’ll appreciate it so much more. BUT I’ll love it however y’all do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I want them to do both versions too!
Merciful HEAVENS this was beautiful! 🥰
And 30 seconds my A$$ . . . 🙄😆
Your reactions always make me feel better when I have shitty days. Thank you❤
Another great Sleep Token reaction guys!
Drag Me Under is my fave on Sundowning. It's so pretty. Could lowkey be a wedding song.
Nicely done fellas!! One more!!
PLEASE DO THE STUDIO FIRST!!
Then do the room below after….
BLOODSPORT = STUDIO 1st
This journey has been amazing, I’m always here for it, can’t wait for bloodsport and for the next album, I’m so glad to be here too.
I can't wait for you guys to hear Missing Limbs, hits my soul everytime.
Beauty. 😊great chatting today! catch you guys on the next one. -savlyn
"the band behind him" is literally Vessel and their drummer, II. Vessel does the instrumentals (
besides drums) and songwriting for every track.
Love yall...
Also!! I ACTUALLY KINDA LIKE LASTING ONKY 5 MINS hahaha IM a BING-BANG-BOOM KINDA CHIKA lmffao ( i gotz shit to do 2day!!, so lets get it over with ) kinda chik lmffao that really made me laugh!!😂😂
Do the music video for Bloodsport from the room below, pulls at the heart strings
i really can not wait for the reaction to Telomeres, in my opinion the most underrated sleep token track of all time
it is def one you listen to while sitting in the shower alone at 3am. it"s not a favorite but it is still good and serves a purpose
The thread the needle ep is so good, especially fields of elation
It’s beautiful and to me it seems so connected to TPWBYT and Atlantic specifically
This song grew on me! The lyrics are just beautiful! I recommend doing the room below version of bloodsport first, then studio after!
Are you guys gonna go waaay back to the EP’s? You gotta do it!
Very underrated song. Bloodsport is next!!! The moment we’ve all been waiting for!!! Please do a dual version!!! Room below first 😍😍
They should do the original version first methinks.
@@dropthehammer1360 the original is nothing in comparison, i'd forego it altogether and just do TRB
@@Chris-dt8ru disagree.
They're doing them in order so they should continue doing that.
@@aleasha.k.b bloodsport is next
Throw this song on a I crying 💀 it is one of my favorite songs
What I find interesting is that not only Vessel, but the Gods and Angels are also extremely invested in Sleep. Why? Not sure.
Sleep Token has helped me realize that i need out of my toxic relationship.
Reminded me a little bit of when Sigur Rós were great. ❤ Would have ended it differently than a fade out. Beautiful indeed.
“And I know the angels tonight are as lost for words
As I am to merely behold you as we lie down together
Drag me under again
Deep in to your love, oh
And I know the gods will abandon the heavens just to find us
To merely behold you as we lie down together
Drag me under again
Deep in to your love, oh
Hold me beneath the surface (And I know the angels tonight are as lost for words)
Deep in to your love (As I am to merely behold you as we lie down together)”
Before you do Bloodsport(s) you should give this a re-listen and go immediately in. The way the songs work together elevates both immensely
If you haven't listened to the room below version of this I suggest you look it up, it's just beautiful 😢
I hope yall listen to the album version of Blood Sport
Since you guys didn't pick up on it
"DRAG me UNDER again
Deeper into your embrace"
Is the same melody as
"RAISE me UP again
Take me past the edge" in the summoning
I honestly expect you guys to have the same reaction to This place will become your tomb as a lot of the original reactions were. Expecting tons on surprises on the album like Take Me Back to Eden but to find a more consistent sound with nothing really mind boggling but an incredible album nonetheless in TPWBYT. Let’s we if it’s true.
You do know that there are two EPs that came before Sundowning, right? Titled 'One' and 'Two' they are both three-song EPs that are also a must-listen!
dont let the world swallow you **cries forever**
