Absolutely the best stretch for my painful back, I gave it a try and I feel much better. Thanks for sharing 👍

Found the Brettzell online after years of massage and stretching that finally addresses the accumulated tightness from a broken left femur at six years of age (with a concurrent 2 1/2” growth spurt while being in a body cast and no lift put under left foot to compensate for leg length difference resulting in a tilted pelvis), twice torn left hamstring and a ruptured left Achilles. Thanks for simple and effective demonstration.

You’re welcome! It’s crazy how something in one area can impact the rest of your body. Stretches like these definitely help demonstrate that. Glad that you found some relief!

By far one of the best explanations of the Brettzel. Thanks for the video.

I like that you practice what you preach. Not like some of those chubby PTs here on youtube.

Could you explain what this actually does? I’m extremely tight in my upper body and this stretch hits every muscle but I’m wondering what benefits it has. And how long would it take to see those benefits? I’m doing them now everyday as long as I can but it’s extremely difficult for me

You kind of nailed it in your comment. The stretch is really meant to hit a lot of different muscles all at once. The benefits are that it can help with blood flow to those areas, reduce pain and tightness in them, and help you identify areas that could possibly benefit from more targeted work. It is very difficult to say how long it will/should take to see improvements in range of motion with any stretching routine, but I would stay at it for at least 8-12 weeks and see if it starts to change. If it is improving, then keep going. If not, you may need to try something else. Hope that helps!
