- In this episode we take my original 37' Freeman to the boatyard to install a pair of new 425 hp Yamaha Outboards. We pull the old 350's off and over a 17 day period show the progress. We also acid wash the inside of the hull, remove the wrap, and compound and wax the entire hull. I take you for swordfishing for a few minutes too, and then it's time to break in the motors and see how the boat performs with the upgraded motors.

I LOVE new outboards!! Number one thing required to go out on a boat: confidence!
motors aside which are awesome. Super impressive how a fresh coat of bottom paint and a nice wax/buff job took that from looking old and crusty to brand new.
Thank you very much!
The color of that X3 is such a nice change, from always seeing plain, white boats.
Thanks 👍🏻
Wow, super video ! I like seeing the details on removing the wrap, repairing, repowering, and updating the boat. Excellent !
Thanks for watching !
Congrats Nick ! What a awesome upgrade!! Enjoy and as always be safe...Tight Lines Capt ! Can't wait to see her on plane !!!
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Nick, you basically own my dream boat. That thing is badass! I really hope I can afford something like that one day.
This is my old boat , but it’s a great boat. My friends bought it years ago but we will have it in the fleet at the marina
Boat cleaned up nicely!! Lots of hard work! Best of luck with the new motors, Nick!
Thanks! We were really happy with how it turned out
That’s good time on a pair of Yamahas!!
We were happy!
Awesome upgrade that boat is badass keep the videos coming Nick.
Thanks! Will do!
How awesome was that!? I would’ve loved that ride! Good for you, Nick! Congratulations 🥳
@apollo5751 These are 30” shafts with integrated steering, retail pricing was $94k in fall 2021 when we ordered the motors. They are more now. Two sets of controls with new harnesses/wiring, new gauge (CL5) down stairs to support helm master 3 steering, two new helms, two new props, Install of new motors and all the rigging. removal of old motors and old rigging, bottom paint, fiberglass/gelcoat work, acrylic plates for dash, 17 days in boat yard, acid wash, wrap removal, wax, hinges, speakers, etc another $40k
Absolutely comical. You're telling a Yami Pro Staff member what things should cost! Ha.
@@Pietro-ni6ow nope, I’m fairly certain he told you what it DID cost 🤷🏼♀️
man the sound of those outboards are lovely
🙌🏻
Greetings Capt. NICK..thank you for sharing, motors sound sweet..life is beautiful..love n prayers for ye n family🙏
New game!! Every time Nick says HERE or THERE do a shot. Good lord😳😳
😜
Great Video I watched until the end. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks! Appreciate it
Concentrate Rustaid will take that stuff off just as quick. Used it on my boat, and use it at work to take fertilizer stains off of our lawn trucks.
@stanz I really enjoyed this boat upgrade! Thx 👍
Glad you like it!
Nice. Those 425’s are beast.
Dont use a razor blade! Get some goof off and a tint squeegee. It will save your gelcoat.
Boat anchor
Anchor wizard! Love your stuff man keep it up!
Nice hair cut! Nice new motors and a clean boat.
Thanks 👍
🙏GOD BLESS BOAT & FAMILY
May the new screws bring you prosperity with maximum $$$ and safety.
Sincerely,
Doc AJ
Those motors sound awesome! Nick
I think so too!
100 degrees , I'll take it. Beats 7 inches of snow 26 degrees up here.
I had my twin engines stolen and I’m in the process of getting new ones and your video was helpful and I know what to expect. Thank you!
Sorry to hear that. Hope insurance covered it. Good luck with the new engines
@@StanzFam thank you brother. Yes I have insurance. Can’t wait to get back boating. I actually watching the video you showing your 2024 42’. That’s an AMAZING boat. Congratulations and wish you all the best.
Wait, haircut?! You can’t do that midway through! Lol
Right! It fits with what the boat looked like before the wrap got removed. Much better in both cases lol
Man i had the same thought.
much better too 😂
A while back I was cracking on Stan saying that mullet was cool and all flapping in the hurricane winds but he needs to make up with his barber.🤣🤣🤣👍
Haha I was just about to comment…. Mullet one minute, gone the next. Maybe the wife put her foot down 😂
Man it feels like yesterday when you got that boat.
You’re telling me! 7 years went quick
Love the video. Time for a Collab in Cudjoe!
awesome repower, those girls on the back at speed sound sweet
Thanks! We think so too 👍🏻
Look into the Sharrow props. They are more fuel efficient and quieter. The thyroidal design is the way to go.
Hoping to try them one day
Haircut, shave & 2 new 425's. What a day.
Hahaha!
Nick!!!! You got a haircut!!!! Enjoy your new ride!!
Yes! Thank you! My old boat but we still have it in the fleet with the current owners
Hi Nick, I'm not a knowledgeable boat owner, but have seen some prop engineering information about Sharrow props. If you decide to look at these, I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks for the video. Great stuff!
They look really interesting for sure. Haven’t heard any feed back on the freemans with them yet, but we will definitely keep an eye out for them
@@StanzFam Not on a freeman, but on some other cats. Here's a link to a performance report of a twin vee 36' with twin 300's and sharrows.
www.sharrowmarine.com/performance-reports/2022/12/30/36-twin-vee-with-twin-yamaha-300-hp
@@toivomyllyla8776 I guess there has been some testing on the Freemans with them but not what they hoped for. Sounds like they are adjusting the props and hopefully get them dialed in for the Freemans. Would love to have them if we could save some fuel!
SWEEEEET!!!! Nice job brother.... Those engines are amazing!!! 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯♥️👍
👊🏻👊🏻
Looking good!! Hope to see the invisible cat soon!!
love the the new heair cut
4400 hrs on those 350s dang that's alot of flywheels!!!!!!
Every 700-800 we had to change them. (80 hours in the certain rpm range)
And yeah after that punishment in the shop all the time and not fishing I wanna buy another set? No way are you guys crazy what happened to common sense thinking support your own kind
Sweet dude looks awesome 👌
Thanks! We were all happy with how it turned out
Badass boat!
🙌🏻
In the future is you ever need to take any glue and wrap glue off, get tarmanator it is by far the best at removing any kind of adhesive with damaging paint
Will keep that in mind. Never heard of it before. Thanks!
Great video Stanzfam! Glad you put in some extras but what an overall retrofit. The 37 looks beyond amazing. The haircut is good to.
Thanks! Appreciate it
Great motors, great speed , nice boat. !!!
Thanks 👍
Check out the Flushmaster for those new 425’s
What was the weight jump from old to new motors? Is that a hull extension/splashwell or a bolt on extension?
FYI, dunno if you knew this but Blue Wave, the company that makes the fish box cleaner, also makes Rust & Water Stain Remover in a spray bottle. I have used it a couple times and it works a lot better for me, is sustainable and has no impact on our planet, which is the most important (for me), and might be much better for those that don't want to use plain Muriatic Acid.
Yep, love their rust remover.
When the heat goes up the hair comes off 🤣🤣🤣great video bro
Haha! You got that right .
Thanks
Buddy's better be get free fishing trips for all that help
Thanks for sharing again 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
My pleasure 😊
@@StanzFam thanks for responding to me hope to make it there this year
¡Felicidades! Looks great!
Fantastic and beautiful
Thanks for watching : )
Dang nick can’t believe you cut that mullet lol
🥲
Nice haircut Sara must be so happy 🤣
Ha! I think so : )
Nick go buy iron out its a laundry durtgernt buy the powder mix with water put in a spray bottle same results as acid no smell!
So those new motors are Jet motors and do not have propellors...!!!???? That was another nice job and service...!!!!!
Thanks for watching
They have props, I just wasn’t there in the boat yard when they installed the lower units on the motors, the boat was already in the water before I could film them
Damn those bolts look small for those monsters😂
Hi Nick. Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Bro wishing you all the best take care stay safe blessings
Thank you! Likewise
Awesome
👍🏻
Stan was looking like Les Claypool for a while there.🤣🤣
I detail boats hull cleaner AINT no joke I use hull cleaner for makos only.
pressure washer on wrap helps a little bit
Can't go wrong with dependability
Nice boat
In 1959 we put a 35 hp Johnson on the 1957 McCarty boat. Ran it till 1986. No problems!! New it ran 34mph. Old it ran 32 mph. What’s that say???
Either they built things better back then or it didn’t have many hours on it. (Maybe a combination of both)
I have a 300 r 2023 power head that hydro locked. I ran it for 15 seconds while it was slightly hot( 145 block temp). It has 10 hours on it , but is seized. The plugs are clean and the computer is immaculate. I know you need to know why it’s ceased, but assuming it’s not warped, what kind of value do you think it has?
I haven’t sold any racing engines like that so I’m not sure how valuable it is. I would just look online to see what similar engines are listed for
Definitely need to reprop
As a marine tech myself, your gonna love the 425s. Fantastic power setup. Easy maintenance. Can't say enough good things about a yamaha.
Great to hear! Thanks
Those scratches would drive me crazy however it's the livelihood
For sure
Nick, I thought you gifted the 37' Freeman to Bean for being the best Mate you've ever had, even if he couldn't harpoon Moby Dick if he was floating dead next to the boat. 🤣
Hahaha
SHEW! When you selling it to me?
Joe!!
I am sure those mounting bolts are grade 8 but damn, only 1/2 inch. I would be scared to death of losing them in some rough water.
Wow
wow, nice black welded joints on that tee top, one knows aluminum is anidosied
Buggy top Powder coated (black)
How many years did you wait for your 425s to be delivered? Great choice though. Good looking boat. P.S. I miss the mullet and the 1970s mustache, 😆
17 months we waited for motors
Haha thanks!
Nick, why not Mercs?
Yamahas more reliable
Absolutely wrong answer why does the coast guard have 16000 hours on the verrados are you kidding me really and they're American made stop supporting Japan remember we used to bomb them
Marsh harbour has Bigg Freeman dealer
TWIN 425💪🏽😤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
👊🏻
All the scratches on my boat are also from swordfish 😂
😜🙌🏻⚔️
So what did you spend the other $44k on since the motors are $48k MSRP x2?
2 new binnacles, new auto pilot, new helms , bottom job, fiberglass work, and engine install
New 2024 Yamaha F350s would be a good match for the 37’ Freeman. Agreed?
Not with twins. The V8 350’s were bare minimum.
Ok, got it. Was too focused on the weight advantage of the new F350s. Hugh fan of the channel and Bud n’ Mary’s. Motor by it all the time.
I'll like to fish with you guys.
I would think that 37 would do 60 with 450s but you have a tuna tower on it.
Close
Good luck, since Evinrude went under the price of outboards is getting crazy, to say the least.
That's a fat boat 🚢 😳 we do 40 knots on a warrior with a 150 v6 mercury and burn half the fuel but big big boat you should have at least 4 on the back lol imagine the fuel burn then..
Earned a new Sub 🤘🏽
Welcome aboard!
👍 Wow 140k 🤣
Man how many freeman boats do you have? Beautiful vessels
I just own one. This is my old boat my friend bought but I help manage operations for it
@@StanzFam oh good on ya mate. I just stumbled across your page i like it ill stay watching. Do your thing man
Nick, I bet you can do wheelys with those new engines! You have a beautiful boat! I never knew your boat was called Water Damage? Your new haircut looks really sharp! What did your girls say about the new haircut? I thought new cars were expensive? Nothing compared to your boat! Watch out sailfish.....
Thanks Pam! This is my original 37 Freeman which was called Broad Minded but I sold it to some friends in 2019 and they renamed it Water Damage. We still have it in the fleet and manage it for them
I didn’t know Ricky Fowler fished
🕺🏻
What is the name of that acid product?
멋지네요
very nice video
Why not compound with a wool pad and rotary? Much more effective
Gelcoat on the hull had never seen the sun, light buff and wax is all it needed
That acid will know you out it's so bad for you !
Awwwwwwwwwww….only 2.
I think a steamer works better for wrap removal.
Will have to keep that in mind
do you flush your engines? or do you not see a difference'?
If they sit for a while it’s a good idea to flush them. We use them so often we don’t do it as much as recreational people
@@StanzFam thanks! Love the videos
What about running Sharrow Marine props?
Waiting for some feedback on the freeman’s when they run them first. Would love to try them but don’t want to buy them not being sure of performance
I think they have great performance potential, but the high cost ratio is prohibitive. I think they are close to $5k a prop….but for someone like you running all day. The savings overall might be worth it. Love the content! My dream is to fish with your outfit one day
Interesting. I know a 42 regulator with quad 425 gets 1mpg @ 36 knots.
As much as I’d like to believe that it’s not possible. Regulators are super heavy boats and definitely not known for their fuel efficiency
Really cool video, dude you spent some money! Boat looks awesome, and the new 450’s sound amazing!👍🏻
Thanks! 👍
That's right the merc 450s due sound bad a** compared to these Japan 425s junk
You should have used a rubber wheel attachment for a drill to remove those little wrap pieces… would have saved you hours and hours of work lol! Next time!!
Thanks for the tip
From : james h. mathewson sr. Ha ha ! Mercury smokes y’all again !
The 350’s had over 4400 hours on them when we pulled them off… ain’t no mercury power heads with those types of hours 😂😂😂
Did you have any issues with your 350s? I’m looking at a boat with twin 350s Yamaha now and a lot of guys saying they are a nightmare.
We went through a few lower units but definitely happy with the motors . Got a lot of use out of them
