I say the same thing to people thinking of buying a villa in Florida. If you want an investment buy a house in a student town or in Cornwall as it’s expensive running a villa especially one with a private pool and on a gated resort. We bought it as a life style as we wanted to get away in the UK winter for a couple of months when we retired. The value of the villa has now gone up since we bought it in 2004 although we had a big drop during the sub prime credit crunch year when it went down a lot, but we have had to pay for resurfacing the pool after 15 years and a new roof after the last hurricane. We have completely refurnished it since we bought it as renters don’t look after things like you would if you lived there. We normally rent it out but obviously last year it was empty so it cost us a lot.
Totally get all you said, your reasons for being where you are and the safety of having no holiday makers makes perfect sense. I could easily live in your lodge, having had a tourer for 31 years every inch of space is invaluable. You do have a beautiful second home, we are lucky we get to see how you live your lives. Must say you put things across so well, it’s like we are sitting right opposite you listening face to face x
Even although I have seen earlier videos on the lodge still loved watching this video as some bits I must have missed - never knew that the BIG pot was part if the “show” lodge.
Lodges seem to be a uniquely British idea - they look nicer and bigger than mobile homes, which is the closest I can think of to being an equivalent in the US. So in the same way, a lodge park is certainly a whole lot more upscale than American trailer park. Anyway, it’s interesting to hear some of those pros and cons, especially since some of them are not things I would’ve ever thought about.
Great video I need to look at the others you have made...Very informative for us who are looking to buy a lodge style 'van'.. Great to know what usb 'fire' effect you have for the tv.. Looks fantastic...
I’ve owned a static since 2013. I totally agree it is a lifestyle choice. You never get the money back. We are able to rent out which is what we chose to do - the rental income funds my trips to WDW every year! I think a nice gazunder bed or trundle in the kids room would allow you to set up an office. But, would you want to be stuck in there working when you are used to the light and air in the lounge and that view!
Absolutely stunning lodge that will for sure be top of the range & cost mega money 💴 but you guys work so hard enjoy it guys you guys are a lovely couple stay happy ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️looking forward to your next vlog 👏👏👏👏👏
I loved this vlog! We don’t have have “lodge parks” here in the US... as far as I know so it was new and interesting information. That storage thought... 😳 bit tight! Lovely hone away from home guys! 🥰
Aww this reminds me of the first vlog of yours I ever watched, it was the one about Car hire and driving in the USA. I had no idea until then that UK Car seats were no good over there 👍 Been hooked on your channel ever since 👍 Informative as always👍
Our pitch fees were extortionate in Cleethorpes 5k a year before other fees I was so glad to get shut of it...3 years we had it for I now want an apartment in Spain for when I'm not in Florida x
That was a very informative vlog guys, your both so good at explaining everything. Your lodge is gorgeous and I can see how much you both enjoy living there. For that balcony and view I'd gladly sit with my hat and gloves on and just admire 😍! Actually what about an outdoor heater, would that be any use? See you tomorrow guys 💙💙 xx
Lots of stuff, useful to know. Many thanks. I am tempted but concerned about the cons. There is another vid somewhere on TH-cam, where a couple bought a lodge for over £50,000 and when circumstances changed after less than two years and they had to leave, they were only offered about £12,000. That was quite a shock.
Yes they don't hold the money well. Maybe ones like ours will hopefully hold money better than a standard size Caravan. If you want an investment then a bricks and mortar property is much better
Great informative video!.. we have been considering buying a lodge and it didn't sit right just handing over 150k+ to buy a lodge, knowing we'd never get the money back - but you are right that it's the lifestyle you are buying.. Why don't you change the panels to higher decking panels to give you more shelter from the wind?.. Still glass so it doesn't spoil your view, but makes it much more usable space to enjoy?
Very informative guys thank you ! Stay safe x x The pitch fees seem really reasonable I’ve looked at the ones at cleethoropes and they are £3600 to £9600 depending on location !
Definitely on our bucket list as we would love to downsize and have a holiday home. One day hopefully. We’re in Scotland and maybe don’t get the weather for all year round living but as you say if you’ve got a view it’s be worth it. For now we’ll live our dreams through your life at the lodge! 🤗❤️
What’s the life expectancy as they remind me of American lap sided homes that have to be resided especially in a location like yours been open to the elements , do new lodges come with something similar to a NHBC guarantee?,also any restrictions like parking a caravan or large van outside?.Thanks for posting.
Did you buy the lodge separate from the location? Arrange to have building installed on park plot? I thought you choose the lodge and it was lodge and location combined.
I have found this extremely useful. I have been dipping in and out of buying a lodge since I started watching your video’s. The two things that concern me, is the yearly fees and obviously the initial cost. I’ve also been told that selling can be problematic. Did you find that an issue when you were upgrading. Also can you purchase a lodge and re locate to your chosen park or do you have to purchase an on site to remain on site. Also I’ve been told that on some sites, you have to have the parks recommended installers if you require decking. We are looking at the East coast, as it’s a reasonable distance from Doncaster. Overall, I would love to do it, just a little nervous. As you say, it’s a big decision.
We could relocate if we wanted but it would be costly. Upgrading was OK for us as we were upgrading to a large one so we were able to do a good deal with the park. Selling is mainly problematic in that you will more than likely lose money. You pay for the lifestyle. It's not an investment. ❤️
That was really interesting guys sounds like you did the right thing buying it, like you say you never know what’s round the corner. We have a little place in Spain but can’t go so maybe should’ve bought in Whitby instead. The business one would be good to see. One question why no pets?
Lodges are like cars, they drop like bricks, site fees are average 7k a year in West Sussex and Hampshire, but I agree life is short and we don’t know what’s round the corner, Covid for example, no one expected, saw that coming, I’m thinking when I retire to buy a pre owned lodge, a few years old, as they say about money, “ya can’t take it with you” I say enjoy the fruits of your labour,
Interesting video. Your lodge is really spacious it’s like a tardis! The way is decorated is so nice I like the grey tones. They hadn’t skimped on the furniture either. Love reclaimed wood. I feel that if it had been empty this would have been how you would have styled it.
I really found this interesting and enjoyable. I have been following your lives now for 3 years and would be really interested in you doing a episode on your former company as 'Ive always wondered what you did. I worked for my self for 5 years but in the end things happened that I had no control over and like you was really not making any money at the end.
I would love a lodge like this & maybe when I retire it could be a possibility .. Thanks for sharing & it would be great to see a vlog of your work & businesses old & new .. stay safe guys x

Aw I’d love to watch some videos on your early days and your business! ❤️
We will have a think about what ones we can do and what would be interesting
If you continue having wifi issues, I would recommend looking into a 4g or 5g home hub setup, three, ee and a few other companies offer them.
Thanks for showing your home its lush.

One other very important consideration when choosing a site is their policy on the max age of accommodation. Yours does look fab.
Loved this video.....even though we watch every day, we enjoyed getting the grand tour!! What a beautiful place!!
Its such a nice place to call home. And you guys keep such a clean home. Love it !
Great blog guys, very informative, loved it, Thankyou xx

Love that view , fun tour guys 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Great background story 🥰 can you not have a windbreaker built to deflect the wind?
nope because it changes directions from all sides

We have driven loads in the US and your explanation was excellent for anyone new to it who are nervous

Site fees can be bad and you have to pay it whether you use it or not. Its a big decision

Yes theres lots of different priced fees. Got to do your homework before hand even though it was a little all rushed for us
Really hoping I can do the same thing one day. Thank you so much for this video. Makes it feel less impossible.

Fantastic vlog :) how long do you have the lease at the park for?
It's a beautiful lodge. Is there certain parts of the lodge you are not allowed to change ?
Love the lodge.

Another nice vlog, only question I wanted answering was how much was it lol

Nick is allergic to most animal fur
@@TheLodgeGuys got ya plus they can be a pain when you want to go away
Is there a time limit you can have your lodge on that particular park for? I know some say X amount of years.
30 years some sites
Lovely having a sit down chatty video again. Always love hearing your stories xx
Glad you enjoyed it 😍😍😍
Does the park ur lodge is on make u change ur lodge over a period based on the age of ur lodge

How many times have you either stubbed a toe or tripped/fallen over the step into the kitchen?
Surprisingly never that I can remember. I think batty B once fell down it after she had a glass of wine once 😅
