    Pour the coolant with the bottle tipped on it's side to prevent the glugging and spilling.

    Lmao
    I’m glad I’m not the only one that broke the clip for the overflow tank.

    Not sure if USDM wrxs are different, but I just installed a mishi rad on my 09 wrx here in aus and ran into a few issues. So to anyone doing the same, make sure you shorten all your hoses (you'll notice that the mishi rad is about 2 times thicker than oem thus causing some clearance issues, specifically with the upper rad hose which will now touch your pulleys) and have a cable tie ready - the hose coming off the nipple on the left side of the metal overflow tube will now be pinched against a (power steering?) hose if you try and bolt it back on. So what i did was leave it unbolted, wedged it above the bit you're supposed to bolt it to and cable tied it down.
    Also note that you'll need to have the left radiator fan off when putting in the rad, otherwise you won't clear the upper hose, and if you remove the upper hose, you won't be able to get the clamp back on the engine side with the rad in. Overflow bottle will have to be muscled in through the bottom of the car. It seems like it won't fit but with enough force, it'll come through.
    But yeah, it was a good experience and quite rewarding to figure it all out.
    Cheers Mishimoto!

    My stock radiator just went, perfect excuse to order one today, going with the Silicone hoses and racing thermostat too.

    Thank you for this concise, but informative video! What is the reason to change to silicon hoses? Are they more durable?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The silicone hoses will be more durable as they will not degrade the same as rubber hoses over time. They are also a better looking option over plain rubber hoses.

    does the teflon tape come or do I have to purchase it for the install

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are referring to the port in the upper right corner, yes, you will need to apply some sort of teflon tape there.

    Why would you use the stock radiator cap and put the mishimoto radiator cap on the overflow ? Did you guys mess up this video ?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      +wheresmy twohundred The Mishimoto radiator cap has a pressure valve and a vacuum valve. When the radiator inner pressure becomes higher than specified, the pressure valve opens to send coolant to the expansion tank. Also, when the radiator inner pressure valve becomes lower than the atmospheric pressure during the cooling down phase, the vacuum valve opens to send back coolant from the expansion tank to the radiator. These functions prevent damage to the radiator components. The stock cap on the radiator side has a pressure valve. When the radiator inner pressure becomes higher than specified, the pressure valve opens to send coolant to the expansion tank. This function prevents damage to the radiator components. Due to the difference in construction, the relief valve cap cannot be used in place of the radiator cap at the coolant filler tank side. If the relief valve cap is fit on the coolant filler tank, overheating may occur.

    why is important to change the reservoir cap?? if the OEM is 108kPa(15.66PSI) and this have coolant return to, and the mishimoto is 19PSI?? can i have problems because is more pressure???

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The provided Mishimoto radiator cap should replace the stock cap located on the expansion tank. The stock cap attached to the radiator should be installed on the Mishimoto Performance Aluminum Radiator. The Mishimoto radiator cap is a two-way valve, while the stock radiator cap is a single valve. Due to the difference in construction, the Mishimoto cap cannot be used on the radiator. If the Mishimoto cap is fit on the radiator, overheating may occur.

      @@mishimoto okok but the OEM reservoir cap is 15.66PSI and the mishimoto cap is 19PSI can i have a problems with that??

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By using a higher pressure cap we are actually able to bring down the boiling point of the coolant keep the car running cooler. For as long as we have had this radiator available this has never been an issue.

      @mishimoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either should be fine unless you are going with a very high HP build, in that case we would recommend the X line.

    Dont you need to burp the system?

    • @mishimoto

      Hello, most changes to cooling components will require bleeding the system of air. This is mentioned towards the end of our video.

    Where is installation video on a Subaru STI 2016+ ??

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunately we do not have an install video for the 2016+ models as there is not much difference in the models as far as install goes.

      Mishimoto Automotive currently having problems with fitment. Swapped my oem radiator for one of yours and unfortunately the donor vehicule was a STI 2015 and mine is a STI 2016. Found out awhile ago that the upper hose was rubbing against my pulley but saw it luckily before any damages happened. I bought a new oem upper hose and cut a bit both ends and now it’s rubbing in my fan shroud... In the radiator description it say 2008-2019 STI « installation effortless with no cutting or modification required» but in the installation video it says for 2008 to 2015 direct fit !? This is very confusing. How is it suppose to fit perfectly and what do you guys offers for STI 2016 + since your application seems to work only for STI up to 2015? Thanks!

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The video was created before the newer models were ever release so all the comments on the video were for the models we were able to install the item into. In some cases trimming the top hose is required as the radiator is thicker than stock and will sit closer the the motor.

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The video was uploaded some time ago so the title has not been updated. However, this will fit the newer STI models up to 2019 at the moment.
