Hey frost. Nice content and nice Classic Videos. You do a great job. Can u maybe make a playlist with all your great background music? Its always so relaxing to hear this good old game soundtracks.
Hmm, when I make a video I usually search the music when it's edited. It's mostly wow music from all expansions, specially tavern music :E I'll start saving them in a playlist.
I remember vendoring the recipe of supreme will back in WoW Classic with my Hunter because...it was not a hunter weapon I guess? Glad to see you upload Frost, you've got me into streaming and I can't wait for you to stream Classic when it comes out, just like old times.
The run-up to Classic Vanilla was something I'll cherish. I had so much fun going through and leveling one character to 60. I did like 1 raid and played the AH. Leveled in Felwood to get Water Essences. First in guild to hit 60. First epic mount. But then I had my fun and some of the modern ways people approach an older game made me less interested. You've always been someone who just enjoys the game and I like that. Salute to all those who enjoy the game. I take nothing away from them. I am jealous actually. WoW never really leaves you. Just when you think you're done forever, you end up playing again.
Where are you getting that greens ignore the 3.5 sec rule from? I've scoured the internet and can't find any info on this other than this vid and the battle.net forums talking about this vid.
Testing was recently done that seems to indicate he got it wrong: www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/e4rvlw/psa_spell_damagehealing_rawof_wrath_damage_vs/
I never knew about the last one, interesting video. I once was lucky enough to buy hyacintaw macaw for 25 silver on Booty Bay auction house, if that person ever found out haha.
Somehow you re able to give some good rpgHype back, in an almost full known game that took our journey so far... thks Frost. You re special in doin it.
Weapon skill and defense are still in the game tho? (just not shown on the character sheets, and automatically updates, you don't need to level it it moves up with your character level). When a player is 1 level above or below another they have +5 (or was it 10?) more or less weapon/defense skill (EX: you have a higher chance to miss attacks on players with more levels then you etc....)
Something to keep in mind for everyone looking forward to official Wow Classic servers. Everyone is going to begin on a fresh server meaning no one has Alts and everyone starts with 0 gold. If you see a rare item in the AH for a lot of gold I advise you haggling directly with the seller. That's how I got myself a warden staff in vanilla for under 100g.
Also note that weapon skill affects the miss chance, e.g. 305 weapon skill vs a raid boss (3 levels above you) will effectively give you 3% reduced chance to miss. This is because there are two seperate functions for calculating miss chance based on attackers weapon skill and defenders defence skill. If the difference is more than 10 one function will be used, else another.
I think one of the most important things your item videos achieve is exemplifying how items affect a community, and how vanilla WoW itemization is so special in that seemingly irrelevant, underleveled items can find potent use at even the bleeding edge of PvP and PvE progression. So, showcasing "stuff that just came through your mind" is perfectly in the spirit of the creativity of these items and how/why they're used. I suppose eventually you'll run out of stuff to talk about until classic launches, but thanks for your work so far.
There are still many things to talk about vanilla. You could probably do a whole video just by talking about westfall. But I'm going to focus on lore and class guides in the future, just waiting for the hype to grow.

Just a little clarification. Spell/healing power used to scale 100% to every spell no matter how long the cast time, but later when people (like me) stacked 6-700 +heal and would have near infinite mana by downcasting it would get nerfed (for a resto druid this had double the benefit, as your mana/heal skyrocketed, and you could use a shorter cast healing touch which was far more usable than a max rank HT that would overheal 80%). And while darkmoon cards were nice, as were titanic legs/lionheart helm, they were far from bis, however for a while after warrior t1-2 got entirely redone for tanking (though a few slots would still be good dps items, like might gloves) they were amongst the few items available at all as epic pure dps plate for this period. Also of course, they were pretty nice to use as a catchup for a new player or alt.

Frostadamus omfg rly ? I had to stop wow on nostalrius at the begining of Naxx, so I didnt experienced 1.12. But it looks AWESOME ! Anyway, will you pay that virtual ticket to play classic ??
Nice video, but I do have one correction to make: Classic will run on 1.12, which means that Teebu instantly becomes obsolete (or at least worth half as much). Also, high-level green items with spell power (especially wands) will have been nerfed.
I ran UBRS twice and only twice in Vanilla since I was very pvp oriented instead. I won a greed role on the Ace of Beasts and selling it bought my epic riding skill.
Highest wand was a lunar wand, which gave 23 spell power to a school. i had one and spent around 500g for it. it had the highest spell power you could get for a specific school.
Lionheart Helm plans were crazy rare, but Titanic Leggings plans were not. I was one of a handful of people on my server who could make Lionheart Helm. Within just a few days of the introduction of Titanic Leggings, there were several plans on the auction house for relatively cheap.
Stronghold gauntlets were the other super expensive plans. They gave immunity to disarm which was godly for warriors in pvp since you didn't need a weapon chain and could get Crusader instead.
Titanic Leggings recipe had a high drop chance for the first few days after it was released to ensure that someone on each server could make it. Then they lowered the drop chance to something very low, resembling Lionheart Helm. A smart paladin on my server farmed 2 of them in those first days. He learned one and sold the other a month later for a vast sum, like 10,000 gold.
Why do the green items give you 100% of their spellpower no matter spell? Is it because it's greens (ie the rarity)? Because it's specific types of spellpower like frost, healing, and such? Or why?
Hey Frostadamus what add-on do you use for your character portrait the hp number and the rare elite icon looks really cool Where can I download that? 😄
I remember looting a Nature Resistence ring back in Vanilla in 2006, it had like 25 nature resist and I sold it to the vendor after telling my brother about this he told me I could have sell it for 50g on AH because of ZG runs
The greens you mentioned don't ignore spell coefficient. Common misconception which the data does not support. Still great items, but they don't give the full amount to fast spells as you mention. The "Up to X spell damage" we see more is exactly the same and is simply worded that way because of the coefficient.
Freezing band was awesome. I got a drop on my mage in Felwood in RETAIL Vanilla. I ended up buying a second in the AH on Burning Legion for probably under 200g. It wasn't considered a good item back then, but I loved them. They stacked, and that 1% proc was incredible when you were farming alot of mobs or doing alot of pulls for your lowbie friends in dungeons. If it proc'd in PVP it was just magic. :)

I cna't help but feel like these prices are massively inflated due to pservers, I collected darkmoon cards, prices in actual classic on my server were around 10g per card with the ace usually going anywhere upwards of 60G to 100
Can anyone explain why the green items bypass the spell power coeff? He mentioned that that is the reason why those green wands were broken and lasted thru whole vanilla
Is there any form to see within the game your numeric amount of spell power or heal power?, always found that on the stats right side of main stats appear your attack power and range power but not your spell power or heal power until TBC when they made a better interface. Or you need to do some dank math with some tables?
Are we 100% sure about the green +damage/healing items bypassing spell coefficient? Frost mages spamming rank 1 frostbolts for like 500 damage every second (before crit chance) while spending only 25 mana seems pretty borked.
Frostadamus I'd love to see a video where you sort of discuss with yourself about those 3 classes, the perks and the downsides, it would be realy helpfull for people (Like me) to also decide on their choices. And since the classic wow is just around the corner its gonna be super important! (HYYYYYPE)
Watch those "of shadow wrath", "of healing" and "of frost" pieces, etc etc etc... Those wands, and various pieces of gear are green items. They will actively be listed on the auction house at 1 gold - 5 gold... Most people getting level 45-50 green items are vendoring or disenchanting them and even the ones who do list them at the AH wont understand their value for a LONG time. I played during retail vanilla as a rank 13 shadow priest, was a fairly decent/informed player and I had NO CLUE what these things were worth... A VERY small percentile of the server will understand the value of these items. I plan to have a dual monitor setup and run 2 accounts and be cycling through the auction house religiously for the first few months waiting for an opportunity to scoop some of these items. Some of these wands can RNG with up to 35+ healing and will sell for over a thousand gold... The demand for these things will be nuts and the supply will be stifled by uninformed players who are vendoring / DEing them. The likelyhood that you will farm one of these other items is SO low, and when you do get an epic you will always price check it, but people are not price checking their greens. Such an easy way to take 1-5 gold and buy an item that could sell for 1200+ gold if the RNG itemizes it well.
very common for such items, especially if it doesn't have any internal cooldown. people tend to notice the impact of rare procs much more than a flat increase in regeneration, even if the result is the same on paper. Then again, keep in mind that if the item procs you can activate cooldown spirit boosters, making it perform better than you'd expect. I haven't done any math though, but the psychology is certainly there.
The major issue I have toward Blue Dragon is that it has direct anti-synergy with itself. What I mean by this is that it obviously benefits those with a high amount of spirit more than those without. Yet, the prevailing playstyle with high-spirit builds, is to try and cheese the 5 second rule as often as possibly by pausing between casts and winding up big heals. In other words. People who stack healing power and spam low rank heals are far more likely to trigger Blue Dragon but benefit less from the regen. It is a trinket that is at odds with it's own design.
"And another 9 people who will need it for their alts." Vanilla boe dungeon loot in a nutshell.
What are your thoughts about BoE dungeon loot.
How should it be handled?
Frostadamus The same as it's been. People are just silly about loot.

i got the ace of beasts card, it was magical, i also got out rolled on finkles skinner from a rouge as a weapon upgrade, so yeah luck is a pendulum
i'm only demand 10 golds for crafing titanic leggins and i was treated like the direst capitalist alive :)
i didnt even remember that the recipes where that rare, i had them before tbc came from several BRD runs.
Are we 100% sure about the green +damage/healing items bypassing spell coefficient? Frost mages spamming rank 1 frostbolts for like 500 damage every second (before crit chance) while spending only 25 mana seems pretty borked.
dont forget, rank 1 is the fastest cast time
Can't wait to play.
My friend had dual freezing bands and it was pretty tight tbh
Hey Frost, what are you going to play when classic launches?
Warrior, Mage or hunter :)
All 3 but not sure yet which one first.
Frostadamus I'd love to see a video where you sort of discuss with yourself about those 3 classes, the perks and the downsides, it would be realy helpfull for people (Like me) to also decide on their choices. And since the classic wow is just around the corner its gonna be super important! (HYYYYYPE)
What song did you play at the beginning?
could be thaurissan reach.
Hand of Edward the Odd should be on the list
I wanted to add it. Maybe a part 2 will come :P
Background music from Arcanum? :)
No.
Argent tounament music
Dwarf taven music
Man, I had the ring and the strategic hancuffs but I sold them to vendors cause I thought they were not good
Is this all game play of your own characters? If so is there maybe a list of what add-ons/mods you are using?
should be in description.
So....are these world drops or can they be farmed?
Why didn't you say where to get Lion's Heart and Titanic Leggings? :(
Scepticism toward Blue Dragon actually comes from knowing the math. Defense of it is built on anecdotes.
very common for such items, especially if it doesn't have any internal cooldown.
people tend to notice the impact of rare procs much more than a flat increase in regeneration, even if the result is the same on paper.
Freezing band for enhancement shaman?
