I like the idea of the Geomancer, but alongside the geomancer as the second job i'd like to see the Beastmaster (they are also present in FFXI) but with a whip as a weapon. As a melee/ranged hybrid job. And give it summons like the Summoner have but with for example: Byakko, Shinryu, etc

The problem is that they have to make it so the beasts/pets can't be targeted or damaged at all or they will melt in seconds during an actual boss fight/trial/ect. because lol pet AI. And then you'd just have the second coming of the FF11 LOLDRG memes that are a reason it took eons for Dragoon mains in FF14 to overcome that long after they lost the dragon whelp pet they used to have in 11.

allow me to point you to beastmaster as showcased in bozja. in ffxi, the job was also on the equivalent of scouting armor. The big question is if it's going to be a limited job, as depending on how much work you put into the pet or gear that adjusted the pets stats, it had a WILD swing in performance (as wild as BLU)

    • @kuronaialtani
      @kuronaialtani 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

All we’re missing is a second scouting, and a fourth ranged and caster
If we get two jobs for 7.0 it could be scouting/ranged scouting/caster or ranged/caster (my money is on these last two since it’d be three expansions since a caster by that point, two since a ranged, and the same logic as reaper to dragoon would apply for scouting, though we just had a melee so eh)

    • @simonsidorov8315
      @simonsidorov8315 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I doubt they will be adding a scouting job next expansion. Before stormblood there was a single striking, single maiming and single scouting job. A melee job was overdue by stormblood, so we got one and it happened to be striking. After this, it's not like they are gonna introduce melee jobs every consecutive expansion, right? ShB had no melee, we then got a melee in EW, and it's maiming. I imagine there will be another break from melee next expansion, and finally a new scouting melee in 8.0 if not 9.0

They have added too much Geomancy to not use it. Three expansions now where bits of Geomancy have been thrown in. And if people are stuck on the animations and names of Gosetsu’s abilities, I guess it’s a good thing Alisae never ended up tanking despite being a Gladiator with a rapier when red mage was originally shown. Would love to see a soldier or sniper class that uses a long rifle. Would also like to see a Corsair or pirate that works like an opposite to the red mage, where you use a saber and pistol, main combo at melee range then jump back to do a range combo with the pistol before doing a big hit attack that puts you back in melee range. L3 LB calls a ship in and fires a bunch of cannons.

"Geomancer, like astrologian pulls its energy from the stars - only the star below." So, literally a Conjurer... MAYBE they could use wind magic for a DOT, earth magic for a big hit and water magic for a shield? Geomancer will never happen, or at least the Eastern Geomancer as it exists in FFXIV will never be a playable class. That would be like adding an Ishgardian Knight, or a Doman Samurai (as opposed to the current Hingan one). A support caster is likely, but it absolutely will not be a Geomancer.

This would be valid if they weren't making concerted efforts to differenciate the "stars" being outside forces and the "Star" being Hydalean. They're also consistently moving WHM and AST spells away from elemental and time magic connotations.
It's really easy to say "A job did this one time so it'll never exist." but it discounts a lot of clear attempts to move away from these things in order to make space for them to do something more with them in the future.

  • @rezahydra
    @rezahydra 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

I’m betting the next mage is 100% Time Mage in my opinion. We’ve had Time Magic shown on a lot larger a scale more and more recently, to the fact the end of the Eden Raids and the final fight in Endwalker show Time Magic in full force, and with casters not really having dots now, people are really wanting something that could replace the Dot Mage Old Summoner was, similar to how Sage and Reaper take after Old Dark Knight and all. Adding Time Mage to revolve around massive debuff damage that requires the debuff to expire or even reapplying all recently expired debuffs on a target with their timer cut slightly. It would also give us a reason to finally see Meteo in this game, the weaker basic form of Comet and Meteor, as their base DPS skill like Jolt and all.

    • @adamdailey9115

    Additional Jobs by expansion:
ARR (2.0): SMN, SCH (caster, healer)
ARR ("a few days later..."): NIN (melee)
HW: DRK, AST, MCH (tank, healer, ranged)
    SB: SAM, RDM (melee, caster)
    ShB: GNB, DNC (tank, ranged)
    EW: SGE, RPR (healer, melee)
ShB was also when the Devs split the DPSers into subclasses in a big way, as before then, they didn't really emphasize that when adding new Jobs.
    Current standing Jobs by role:
    Tank: 4
    Healer: 4
    Melee: 5
    Ranged: 3
    Caster: 3 + 0.5 (BLU)
So honestly, they need to add ANOTHER Ranged and another Caster. I feel like Geomancer would be an inverse RDM that uses melee and uses some magic for its burst phase, but we already arguably have this with RPR, not to mention the Astrologian questline more or less said that Geomancers in FFXIV are Astrologians...which is kinda weird since they're clearly Conjurers in almost every instance you encounter NPCs that are Geomancers. I remember thinking years ago they should make CNJ split into WHM/GEO the way ARC splits into SCH/SMN, but apparently the Devs want to go the opposite direction instead.
Granted, this isn't how the Devs add Jobs supposedly - they've said they think of the story they want to tell for the expansion then pick Jobs to fit that...but then the reason Dancer was a Ranged was SPECIFICALLY stated to be "we need more Ranged physical DPS Jobs since there are only 2 of them and 3 or more of everything else", which kinds discounts that SOMEWHAT, though I guess they could do a "what do we need for the story, okay, of the story options, which fits the roles we want to add" thing. But it's worth noting where the shortages are.
It's also not clear how they want to deal with support sub-specs, since that's arguably what the Ranged category was before they made MCH a super selfish DPS instead (that...doesn't bring the DPS, unlike BLM and SAM, thus defeating the entire purpose...)
Honestly, I think it will mostly depend on where they want to go with the story. For example, they could do a "War of the Magi" theme, which might have them introduce some kind of caster option like Time Mage (not as a buffer/debuffer so much as a user of time/space magic like gravity/demi spells...but AST already does this...though I could see a Time Mage working kind of like Eden 2 where you stock and unleash spells and set up burst windows and stuff), with Geomancer being an option. Another option would be Green Mage (status effect/DoT mage) since SMN has firmly exited that design space leaving a nice big opening for a Job dedicated to it...though I've also heard people say the Devs don't really want DoT Jobs because of snapshotting weirdness (though they could just make DoTs not get buffed by party buffs to fix that problem, and that aside, they've also long said they hated pet classes, yet SMN/SCH are still there and SCH still works more or less the same, even if SMN has seen a rework...)
I honestly feel like Green Mage or Time Mage are possible before Geomancer, but who knows, really? And I have no idea what they'd do for another ranged physical since I'm not sure how many more ranged weapons there are. Dual pistols like Merlywyb (Musketeer class, which I believe was planned for 1.X and there may actually be the crossed pistols guild placard somewhere in Limsa, I think the Marauder guild has it...), a crossbow class, or a bullwhip using class (though that would most likely be Beastmaster, which would be (a) a pet class and (b) probably a limited class like BLU that did a Pokemon "collect 'em all" thing with enemy monsters...though it would be possible to implement it as a straight/normal Job, I suppose), and we're kind of running out of weapons. :) Magic Gun wouldn't really be PHYSICAL ranged, and is arguably already taken up by Sage, and if not Sage, Chemist if it was ever to be added.
Then again, pull out the good ol' FFXI list of Jobs and there are still quite a few left to add...

If they want to re-introduce a DoT mage (and I really hope they do) but don't want to deal with snapshotting, there's a potential workaround in making the "dots" work more like Machinist's robot, which responds in real time to buffs. I could see this being aesthetically tied into Geomancer or Green Mage if they want a physical "summon".

RDM getting the Magic Shield in Endwalker has already shown they are willing to make them more of a support caster role. They have also gone on record of not liking the SCH/SMN split and wish it was done differently, but due to all of Carbuncle's abilities and the other summons it does still lean into a support as well, so it is a murky idea unless they adjust those to further lean towards a pure dps compared to RDM.
I am glad that you didn't mention Beastmaster due to previous comments from the devs that it would fit better as a limited job like BLU. It also has a large part in the Dalmasca and Bozja storyline. Multiple Fates and important enemy NPCs being them in the Bozja areas.
Also in the same dialogue about Meracydia and the New World, the treasure islands North of Othard and the sunken ruins of the Bounty was mentioned. These also show promise of areas we could go, but everyone focuses on the first 2.

We're in kind of a weird place with jobs right now.
*We have 4 tanks* and all of them are in a good place, but tank design is... kind of a joke. They're designed much the same as DPS jobs with a few mitigation buttons slapped in (plus tank stance), and a lot of people have noticed tanks can often get by (in 4-mans and normal raids) without a healer due to how much self-healing they now have. I'm not sure they could add a 5th tank right now without trying to address the flaws in current tank design.
*We have 4 healers* right now (2 of each type) but healing is really NOT in a good place. Healer design has always been a weak spot of FFXIV, but it feels weaker than ever. When everything is going WRONG in the group, you have a lot of fun buttons to push and things to do, but you're in panic mode... And then when everything is going RIGHT in your group, you have practically nothing to do except spam your single DPS button. (I often cannot stand to be healer in roulette anymore, it's just too fucking boring). I doubt Yoshi-P feels comfortable adding a 5th healer until they get it right. (Plus they added another healer in 6.0)
*We currently have 5 melee DPS* - not only are melee DPS in an amazing place performance-wise, but all 5 of them have unique designs and aesthetics... unfortunately, only *ONE* job uses the Scouting set. This has caused me, personally, problems because of my inability to just switch out just the weapon, the way Maiming and Slaying jobs can.
*We ONLY have 3 casters* (if you don't count BLU). We haven't seen a new caster since RDM in Stormblood.
*We ONLY have 3 phys ranged.* The most recent addition was DNC in Shadowbringers... but phys ranged also isn't in the best place relative to other DPS jobs, balance-wise, and that likely needs to be addressed in 7.0.
My feeling on the matter is that tanking and healing jobs shouldn't be added right now (instead they should tweak how the role overall performs), but there's also sort of an unwritten rule that *EVERY* expansion adds a new melee job (whether it's tank or DPS). So I do not believe they will add _both_ a caster and a phys ranged, and certainly not while ignoring the Scouting set being used by a single job.
All that being said? Both tanks and healers are weirdly underpopulated right now - and that's with Sage having been added this expansion. So I think adding a new job for either role won't solve that problem.
The smartest move for them is to add 1 of each DPS. 1 Scouting job, 1 Casting job, and 1 Aiming job. They added 3 jobs at once only one time, back in Stormblood, but I doubt they will change up the formula they currently have, so while this would be the BEST move, they probably won't do this. I think we need a 2nd Scouting job more than a 5th Fending, but Yoshi-P may not agree, so I figure it's 50/50 on getting a tank or a melee, and then it's all but guaranteed that the ranged job will be a caster.
While Geomancer is a strong contender, it's also entirely possible they give us some form of Necromancer or Voidcaller or something in those veins. (We have DRK and RPR, so why not?)
Right now, it seems most likely we'll be dealing with Corvos and Meracydia in the next expansion... (in fact, I bet Corvos will be the final patches of the 6.x line, as sort of a pit stop on our way towards Meracydia). Considering the theme will be "crossing the sea" adding a Corsair job with a pirate aesthetic seems a likely option! They could use the Scouting set, with a Cutlass+Pistol for it's weapon. They'd do the opposite of RDM - primarily do melee attacks, but their bursty buttons are ranged attacks using the pistol. (This keeps them in line with NIN design, which is currently designed as half-melee and half-ranged)
It helps that the aesthetic of Ninja sets often carry a pirate aesthetic.
I'm not sure what they COULD add for a phys ranged, but it's also entirely possible they just give us a Gunslinger (Machinist is an Engineer more than a Gunner) a-la FFX-2 instead of Corsair.
As for tank... if they do add one, I think Halone is a big clue. Spear+Shield would finally add another job using a Shield and they could theme it's mechanics after the "Rune Knight" of previous FF games. (from Tactics: Rune Knights are elite knights who wear armor inscribed with magick runes of ancient and mysterious power.)

I like the idea of the next class being the support/ debuff class you mentioned. A ranged magical class, I feel like I would enjoy the class even more if it was a challenging one with a high skill ceiling and medium skill floor as with each xpac the classes need a higher and higher level to even unlock them. Something akin to guild-wars 2's elementalist would be fantastic, where you have each element as a stance (similar to a tank stance / whit mages old cleric stance) and your abilites morph with each stance (this could also help will skill button bloat.)

I do think they'll probably add a caster, but I doubt any of us will exactly guess what it will be. I wouldn't be surprised if they scale back to adding one job per expansion or something. If they add two every time, I feel like it'll get out of control and impossible to balance long before the game's lifespan reaches its natural end.

Yeah you’re right. I think this time around they will end up releasing 2 new jobs but might use this opportunity to announce that going forward that each new expansion will only release one new job. I think it help them balance things a lot more and give focus on just one class rather than the obvious two.

Honestly, I think Geomancer overlaps a bit too much with the other Magical DPS classes. Maybe down the line, if the developers can give it enough of a distinguishing flavor, that defines it on it's own.
At present, I believe Time Mage is very likely. A Magical DPS class, that also has a lot of built in support. It would fill a role for Magical DPS, the same way Dancer does, for Ranged DPS. And, the spells for Time Mage are clearly distinct from the other Magical DPS classes. Granted, there may be some overlap with Astrologian. But, I think that can be worked out, with enough forethought. A DPS class that damages/debuffs enemies with gravity spells, and such. Also, some party buffs sprinkled in, for good measure. An "unselfish" DPS for casters.

Edit: Since Geomancer would be too similar to summoner at this point i doubt that this will be introduced. If i would have to guess i would say they mage something new (probably with Voidmagic) or if they want to stay with the tranditions time mage or Alchemist, while the next physical dps could be canoneer

I just want to have a dot caster. Why cant we have nice things? Imagine, managing dot of the 3 element, to balance them out and when all 3 element are maxed out, you unleash a strong spell, either damaging, or support, like a healing buff,or group mitigation. I would love that. A dot caster with important decision making.

Astrologian draws power from the stars above.
Geomancer draws power from the star below.
Honestly I think Geomancer is coming, I’m just not sure when. I do think it’ll be a magic DPS and not a healer, despite looking more like a healer in the Astro quest line. Fun fact… If you’re a healer and you Trust run Trial #2, Urianger’s job is listed as “Lithomancer”, presumably the opposite of his healer option of Astrologian.
I think Gosetsu may have been teasing the next healer job, the also eastern themed Oracle which was primarily a debuffer/support job from FinalFantasy Tactics.
Based on hints in the 6.0 story and events from 5.5, primarily the liberation of Tiamat, meeting and becoming allies of Vrtra, and Estinien talking about how Vrtra wants to “Hire” him for a “Family matter”, I’m pretty convinced 7.0 will be Meracydia. Not sure how Geo will fit in there. I suspect when we get Geo it’ll be at the same time as Oracle, for an Eastern themed expansion and a Magic DPS/Healer combo. I imagine for Meracydia we will get Rune Knight (Tank, Thavnairian themed. Thanks Vrtra!) and some kind of Scouting gear job as Ranged DPS, building off the NPC from the Melee job quests. Possibly Corsair, using a pistol and cutlass combo, or Sharpshooter or some such.
But I’m also half insane and my theories never seem to pan out, so we’ll see. Lol

It's probably not coming anytime soon, but I could see the Viking job from FF3 making an appearance, bringing hammers to the (loot) table, wielding the lightning element much more prominently than black/red mages, maybe set within a new region (of Ilsabard?) where Lalafells are closer to the Dwarves of the First ? I don't know the lore of Lalafells so I don't really know how much sense it could make.
Ishgard could also be a good setting, but snow (that wasn't even there before the 7th calamity) aside, the coerthas isn't really rooted in nordic imagery, with their french sounding names and arthurian references. We've seen in Radz-at-Han that some cultures have been formed around dragons, so them being aliens doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't a nordic themed place on our own star (although Odin is located in the Black Shroud).

I think Geomancer would be fun as a wind/earth/water mage, focusing on DOTs for anyone who misses the old SMN style (minus pets).
Ways to make it unique: Have a kind of feng shui gauge where you use spells to either lean heavy into specific elements, or balance all 3, based on phases in your rotation. Could feel familiar to mana with RDM, but unique in that it might empower/alter some spells. Like maybe your big AOE spell is either Quake, Flood, or Tornado based upon which element is dominant. And I think the fluctuation could also keep it from feeling like you're just building a resource and spending it, so all 4 casters still feel different from each other.
That's about as far as I can get thinking of mechanics for it, but it's a really fun idea for a new job that would make lots of sense to add.

1:34 It's very archaic in English, but Japanese (and Chinese?) still has some linguistic overlap between star (星, hoshi) and planets.
I personally found it interesting when I looked at the official lyrics for the Kamen Rider Kuuga theme song opening with...

Sure but conjure is a class and there are multitudes of jobs within hydaelyn that cross over each other and are just different expressions of similar concepts. Geo and Ast are very different despite both “drawing power from stars” conjure as a class also just doesn’t really express that much in terms of elemental skills anymore. Prediction March 2022
My prediction is kinda similar but little different for 7.0 is that we will visit Meracydia, It just felt like it how they set up Tiamat returning home and how they had Emet mention Meracydia current affairs. For the 2 jobs, I think we get something very interesting although I dont know if they do it. 2 jobs in my opinion could be *Puppet Master* with the weapon being Mammeteer, would make sense for a scouting armor ,but it would be Range DPS in my opinion so they should rethink ninja as well. I think its doable having Range DPS and Melee DPS sharing armor type. Would give Range DPS more versatile job as well.
Other one being *Shaman* using Geomancy with Hammer as a weapon, which is Magical Range DPS. I do think the new job will have geomancy as a magical source but with different job name.
Also in my humble opinion would fit nicely with the expansion theme if they made Meracydia expansion with little Illsabard locations revealed as well.

I'd like geo. I've wanted one since the old days of needing two classes to make a job (conj 30 blm 15 was my idea for geo). I would love to see it as a job that has a basic attack of each, earth, wind, water, and as you attack with them, you fill a corresponding gauge (maybe something similar in shape to the hingashi flag it's self) and as each element fills, you get a super strong attack for it (ie. Quake, Flood, Tornado) and after executing all three at least once, you get a more 'natural disaster' or 'Elementals Wrath' type skill that incorporates all three elements, then start over. So the 'fill guages based on spell type' from RDM and 'three aspected burst phases for a strong finisher ' from summoner kind of rolled together with new flavor.

After the "clover" tease at the end of 6.5, I don't think you're too far off with this one. I think ultimately they'll go with Green Mage in name and aesthetic, but since green magicks tend to be primarily buffing/de-buffing, they might need to rework that background. Assuming that Krile will be the one donning on this new job, I'm thinking a caster that uses a short wand/mace and harnesses the aether (or at this point.. Dynamis) from around them to cast DPS spells.

For the second job they may go to another melee sharing the gear with Ninja because when they revealed and the logic behind the reaper they stated that Drg was alone gear wise and now we have ninja sharing nothing except accessories with LR Dps. And has if we look at passed expansions there was always a long range class and a close range new job. Having two melee or two range class without looking at his role (Tabk, healer, dps) it wouldn’t bee has much appreciated by players who loves close or those who loves to range. And if you ask me : we’ll okay what class would it be? To be honest it would be completely new and even I would probably say that he can be inspired by an weapon in another FF game like they did with Gunbreaker. This job could probably be coming from Meracydia or the New World has well.

I would like to see either Beastmaster or Mystic Knight. Beast Master as a ranged support/pet job hybrid (pet tanks suck in MMO's so have pets do support, imagine a bear or something that has moves like Paladins cover). Mystic Knight could use a scimitar and specialize in magic damage and debuffs, possible tank or DPS not sure there. I just like the idea of a Prince of Persia style character with magic. Finally I wouldn't mind seeing alchemist, not sure how to implement it - maybe combining them with Canoneer and having like alchemical artillery focused on AOE dps and support options. Personally, I'm really partial to Necromancy, we saw that Necromancy is certainly a viable class, as Elidibus' call for Warriors of Light was heeded by a Necromancer, meaning there are Warriors of Light who are also necromancers on other shards.
We've already seen that "inherently corruptive" magicks like Black Magick (Black Mages), Voidsent (Reapers), Dark Emotions (Dark Knight) and even Primals (Summoner) can all be mastered for the purposes of saving and protecting others, and I could imagine Necromancy being the same.
I can even picture it, having once dead friends choose to be brought back by the Warrior of Light to defend Etheris once again if only for a short time. This type of willing Necromancy seems like it could be on the table and would be fascinating to see done.

Important to note that geo is explicitly different than ast and only shares the method by which it draws aether the parallel would be like BLM and WHM being the same for drawing on ambient aether. The reason I didn’t dive into the later is because there is little explicit lore to build on with it as of yet only more wild speculation compared to to concrete things we have in game and from EE2.

While geomancy absolutely exists in lore, mechanically it already exists in white mage and astrologean. It is most prominently a debuffer in other games, and most of its abilities that aren't game exclusive already exist on other jobs that have essentially cannibalized it. I'm not at all convinced it will be the next job, nor am I convinced it will ever be its own job. I also recall (and I could be wrong here) that they've said that new jobs in the future will be new, rather than taking jobs from previous games in the series.
Other than that, I do agree that I expect the next expansion to take us to one of the new continents, and it might give us pitstops on the continents we've been to.

Given the fact we're dealing with the void in the 6.1 - 6.4 patches... i'm actualy pretty sure the void and meracydia will play a big role. Given currently its all about ancient allag (eureka orthos) the great wyrms (vrtra and razdaja) the void, (zero, the archfiends and golbez) given the knowledge we HAVE that ancient allag did deal with the void, razdaja vanished during the war with allag and meracydia and the fact we're going BACK to the void for razdaja. I'm 100% convinced meracydia and the void are 7.0 content. Given that ide, i think the new classes will be based on that theme.
Tho your theory might be correct too. They probably would have done so much earlier if they actualy wanted a geomancer. If that much lore about them was released during stormblood.
Also... fire is covered by black mages and wind/earth has already been covered by conjurers/white mage. So i don't see much use for geomancer at the moment.

I'd really like a Mime or Chemist class. Although idk if they're unique enough to be warranted as a different class

They definitely could! just look at guild war's mesmer class where it centers around "mimicry" (mimes) being a very powerful illusion based debuff, dot and support class. And while there might not be a well-defined weapon for such an unorthodox class they could just use, like, a wand or something. XD

@@toastandoatmeal7085 they also teased a Berserker in ShB when they had that one boss that was massive wearing animal skins. What a shame because the theme is kind of in Warrior already 😕
I'm playing through FFX-2 and psychicer (weird name) which focuses on psychic powers would be cool.

The reason Geomancer stuff showed up so much in Stormblood is because they were trying to decide between Red Mage and Geomancer before SB launched. They prepared a LOT of the Geomancer stuff until they finally settled on RDM at the end. Rather than wasting all that work, they designed the Swallow's Compass and added a lot of Geomancer stuff into the Astrologian quest line.

The other job that we might be getting is probably another job that uses scouting gear. Dragoon was the only maiming, and then reaper was added.

But geomancers have already been stated to be othards version of conjurers and astrologians and so far whenever weve seen one theyve functioned as healers. I doubt theyd ever be a caster but im gonna continue watching to see your thoughts
EDIT: You make decent points but i really still think that it just isn't likely to see it added. Its just too similar to what weve already got. Itd be awesome to see a caster with earth wind and water based magic, but really the only way it would make sense is if they added it as a branching job off of conjury, and i just dont see that being very likely.
You are right that it is most likely for a Caster to be the next job added though, and i truly have no clue what they would add.
I have an idea for a new physical ranged though: Blitzball Player. I think it would really make a lot of sense to make that a physical ranged with a focus on debuffs. They could have an "Attack Reels" based job gauge too which would line up with Wakkas playstyle perfectly. They could make MCH and BLZ debuff focused and BRD and DNC buff focused amd have a perfect split like healers are currently

  • @Hexaile

While Geomancer would be nice, I do believe its to thematically close to White Mage, who until Shadowbringer uses Earth and Wind to deal dmg and Water to heal.
While it would be different due to being a caster and not a healer, its still to close and would make the two classes be very similar and not feel that unique.
Red mage also uses white magic for offensive purposes, which would be the same as what the Geomancer would end up doing. It could be a debuff/dot caster, but seeing as they removed the big dot aspect from Summoner, it seems weird if they were to add a new job that focuses on this, we also have Bard who still does dot upkeep.

I think the moving away of White Mage and Astrologian spells from Elemental and Time manipulation is very intentional to make room for those aspects to be worked into a more potent form in standalone jobs. The only jobs that make sense in those slots are Geomancer and Time Mage.
Good video, and agree that Geomancer is coming. Don't agree with how it would play, but the idea of it coming is almost guaranteed at this point.

Yeah the idea of Geomancer has been floating for a few years and I would love that but I'd personally also love a TIME MAGE as a caster alternative.
Now that summoner's lost DoTs it'd be a great gameplay addition that we're now lacking. Also G'raha being basically a time mage with all of his spells could smoothly pick up the job. Since Yoshi-P said that Krile will have a bigger role in the story from now on and we know that G'raha has plans to work closely with her it may be a good chance to tie the new job with an MSQ character.
We might even time travel to Allag in the story as it's the birthplace of that job, that would be cool! But it may be a bit too much wishful thinking on my part XD

I don't play WoW but i like the idea of a DoT mage class on the dark side of magic, like Warlock. Black mage isn't really a dark class, like dark knight and reaper, so a magic ranged class would be nice.

I believe Yoshi-P has said that it probably won't happen mainly because it's WHM & AST smushed together into 1 job. It's even confirmed in the AST storyline they are too similar. Wouldn't look good for the team to make a job that is a confirmed combination of 2 jobs we currently have.

If they don't do geomancer I see them going with a scouting class (ninja). It's the only one missing now when it comes to having a shared gear set. As to what they will come up with -shrugs-?
I'm thinking a hybrid melee / ranged dps class. Short sword with guns.
Also there is a possibility they can make the geomancer like ninjas since ninjas do have magic attacks.

As much as I enjoy the prospects of Geomancer, they confirmed at a recent interview from Yoshida that “brand new jobs that haven’t appeared in the Final Fantasy series before” will likely be coming in the future, so I'm personally holding off any expectations for any of my other favorite FF Jobs. I would personally love a Meracydian based caster if they do something fresh.

So I have read that in both JP and English and what he says is he’s worried most new jobs will have to be brand new since they are not only running out of old things to reference but they don’t want them to just be the thing in name. He does not imply -no- new jobs will be from prior ff.

@@TheEorzeanArchives he did say that yea but then he added Sage lmao which is exactly sage in name only but plays completely different from the classic one from the previous titles XD
but yea their primary concern is creating unique jobs without them being copies of eachother which is why i think what would be cool is if they made jobs where you can wield multiple weapons at once or multiple magicks etc
by now or Warrior of light/darkness has mastered tons of different ways to fight using various methods but we've never seen them combine all the skills and knowledge they acquired.
like imagine if we got some kind of Wizard for a new caster one that has mastery over all elements or if we got an Arms specialist that can use several kinds of different weapon both ranged and close quartered
