I work at the Bucharest metro. The green line is indeed an oddity. It does have turnbacks but they're not used since the signalling system is not yet fully tested and approved (by us). So at the last two stations, points are blocked and trains use 1 Mai station as an "extended" turnback. Siemens is currently testing the signalling system that they installed and it will probably soon be up and running. The old trains will also probably be replaced in the future. Fun fact, at 1 Mai there's the start of a tunnel that will go all the way to Otopeni somewhere in the future.
Am si eu o intrebare, daca nu este o problema... de ce este Metrorex asa de "privat" in ceea ce priveste experienta la metrou? In alte tari reporterii realizeaza reportaje chiar din cabina trenului, iar aici n-avem voie sa filmam in statie...
The bombardier metro trains were made in Sweden! In fact, it was the 2nd type of the train 2000 concept that was introduced in stockholm back in 1997 (Class C20). I even recognized teh traction motors. But oh man, what a different a VF drive can make a train! That VF drive is 1000x better than on the C20, and that tells alot!

After seeing the old metro trains with all the graffiti... I was genuinely terrified to consider riding such a messed up train. Reminds me of NYC in the awful seventies
There's a huge difference between the graffiti you are referencing from mew york in the 70s, to legal graffiti that's treated as art. Bucharest is full of street graffiti because it's legalized.
10:58 I agree. Not only that but the infrastructure is in a state of complete disrepair which means drivers have no choice but to go slow! (At least based on my experience on route 5)
You should come to bucharest again most of the infrastucture was fixed and we have new trams and trolleybuses and a whole new metro line, plus in this video you rode only old rolling stock, you missed the BUCUR LF and V3A CH-PPC and CA trams and the astra irisbus citelis trolleybus
The neon blue lights in the shape of a M indicates there is power in the 3rd rail , the one who looks like an F tells there is power in the overhead wire(for depots)
The stations here don't look like palaces. Must have been a Soviet Union thing. The graffiti on the first few trains looked quite artistic (I'm glad they remove it off the windows) but they should remove all the scrawly tags off the inside. At least they look cleaner than the Naples ones. The corrugated steel ones at least look harder to graffiti.
I'd say the ticket validation process looks tedious and the older turnstiles look like they just mount a bus ticket validator on a pole and stick it on the turnstile
anindra pratama Are there still those old ticket machines on M1 and M3? Recently, I’ve only seen those on M4. M2 has those very modern ticket machines which make more sense according to me than the older ones. 😅

3 years later, the tunnel you mention is being built now and will become part of line M6, which will essentially be the Airport branch of the M4

In 2021 they did buy a bunch (160) of more modern trams.
amazing trams!!
I live in Bucharest
You finally came to my city. Thank you.
The ticket validator at the beginning were used all across Belgium between the 1990's and 2015. Now only De Lijn still have them.

Actually only unit 1001-2001 was fully built in Sweden, the rest were assembled locally in Craiova
craiova has a history of building swedish asea locomotives, still makes them
Where is the Bucur LF trams ?
7:50 Sydney trains chime?
Ye, the CAF trains use that chime for manual announcements
well the standard Bucharest tram can go a lot faster, but due to some incidents, tram drivers usually go slow with them
Pls do another of this comparison because metro line 5 is out
At 7:51 the announcement chime is the same as the stations in and around Sydney
Congratulations 2..................

IGBT-VVVF? Is that the traction motors that these trains have that to generates power from the live DC conductor tracks that is like on the DLR.
wrong, v3a’s were built for a long while and in 1993 the last model came out
Bucur LF and Bucur V2A built at URAC again,,,
all trams in bucharest are made at URAC in bucharest
except tatra t4r and the second hand ones
wrong again,,, astra ivas started to be built in 1978
The M4 line was changed and now work normaly and you needed to see line 1 there are runing Bucur Low Floor(65%of floor) trams
well you missed the newest tram on the line 1... It's an olive colour and quite clean and beautifull, going on the Basarab Passage.
newer, but not that new, since the first model already has like 11 years, but the other ones are over 13 or 20 years old

@@dudmic nah the production started in 2007 i think and finished in 2016
The trams in Bucharest are the weirdest trams but the metro trains are very nice and quite fast. Even the trolley-buses are also quite fast as well.
He went on the fastest tram rail considered”the fastest light rail in bucharest” and straight up said “ It was disappointingly slow”
It was painfully slow

7:50 GO Transit here in Toronto, Ontario uses that same chime for announcements.

Not all the lines are like that, only lines 5 14 16 32 36 and 55 are like that
@@rockstarinfinity405 Ah that's good then, then again I only went on the 5 of the trams
The Bombardier Metro Trains sound like the Victoria Line
That's because they are part of the same family, Movia. But to me they sound more like a Stockholm Metro C20 stock
Great video. ☺️

I'm pretty sure the trolleybus he filmed was a Citelis - I know as I've had a Citelis on the 69 once so I know how it's supposed to sound like

Yesterday got a train to Bucharest and the rail roads are that bad that they drive like 40kmh
