    Craigslist Find! Suzuki Boulevard M109R MUSCLE BIKE! Ride, Review, Impressions, Buy or Bust?
    Today we're finally getting our hands on a Suzuki Boulevard M109R V-Twin Monster Muscle Bike! This is a craigslist find, so stay tuned as I do my initial ride, review, share my impressions, and ultimately decide whether or not this is the bike for me. If I buy it, we'll bring it home to the garage. If it doesn't pan out, I'll discuss how much this used Suzuki M109R was listed for.

    The M109R are a good bike, I have a 2018 with woolich tune, opened up air box and sideburner exhaust. It made 116hp at the rear wheel. My custom 2016 Night Rod Harley made 117hp at the rear wheel with a same set up. The M109r has better handling and is easier to ride. I rate the M109r

    I had a M109R, beautiful bike and very stylish. Don't ride it to the limiter all the time, you will mess up the gearbox as I did. Gears are very clunky aswell. Also not a fan of the cable clutch. Cables are prone to breaking as the clutch is quite heavy.
    Got a VTX 1800 at the moment and I'm absolutely loving it

    I bought my 07 109r last november and have not regretted one bit. My first cruiser so took a week and a half getting used to the footpegs. But 2 weeks before that 250 back tyre felt natural on turns! I've never owned anything this quick- not even close. Love the looks- different enough from harleys to not look like a wannabe like the C 109.

      @@JonsMotoGarage You know you're right about the mid-controls Jon. That was one of the things I couldn't put my finger on. Now that you have pointed that out it is apparent. 25 years ago I had a Suzuki Intruder 800 that came with drag bars and mid-controls. I loved the feel of that bike. It felt quick and sport like but was still a cruiser. Even though I changed it by putting on Ape Hangers. But if that would have changed the experience of riding the M109 then I would most likely went back to Yamaha and went after a V-Max. But if new of someone who rode sport bikes and wanted to transition to a cruiser I would recommend the M90 or M109.

    Dang, $500 difference and you couldn't make a deal. Seems like a nice bike and it did have a full exhaust system on it. Those M109's are monsters. So what do you think about it compared to your Raider performance wise? The 109 has both low down grunt and it will pull hard up high also (7000rpm redline). The long stroke, air cooled, pushrod Vtwins pull hard up to about 3500rpms or so, then they die out as the revs go up.

The m109r smoked it! But I will say the raider seems overall more user friendly. The m109r seems to be for the select few who want true gnarly muscle power in its rawest form. Lol. It's such a monster! On a side note: I buy/sell (side hobby). So if it doesnt work for that purpose, I'll pass even if it's a good deal. I just got rid of mine for my dream Victory.

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! What are your thoughts comparing the two? I think the victory is a more well rounded cruiser - tons of torque and power, smoother, more comfortable, and overall more refined feeling. My issue with the m109r is the plastic and it just feels kind of cheap. Also not a huge fan of the styling (too bubbly for my taste). But HOLY SMOKES is it a torque monster and I always seem to enjoy the ride more than I anticipate.

  • @Islandsoundzz

    For my first bike I’m considering the M109 or the Honda Fury. I’m 6ft and sportbikes feel way too small for me.

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The m109r is night and day differene from the fury. I'd try and get your hands on both and see which one you dig most. Both are fun bikes and have their pros and cons. M109R is a total powerhouse/torque monster, but not as comfortable ergonomics. Fury is still a fast, powerful bike. Much more comfortable IMO. Thanks for watching and commenting! Keep me posted!

    I think you missed a deal. Mine has 17,000 miles, and I wouldn't sell it for less than 10K (it's not for sale, either). It's a "Keeper", like my Suzuki GSX-R1100 that I bought new in 1988 (and still have).

    how did it feel compared to harley. or do they have their own feel all together.

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IMO a lot of the metric cruisers have a different feel than the harleys. The Yamaha Road Star, Stratoliner, and Raider seem to have the most "harley-esque" feel from my experience. A lot of metrics use plastic covers, fenders, etc. I'm sure it keeps the weight and cost down, but definitely results in a different ride experience/feel. Hard to put my finger on it exactly, but there's definitely something different. But no doubt the m109r is a lot of bike for the money. I always buy used so you're going to be getting it a lot cheaper than the comparable harley as well. Buying new is another story.

If i remember right you test rode one and were not impressed with the vrod. Love the look of the vrod but not sure if the performance is there I could be wrong tho. After taking the vrod out, I did some research and realized I hadn't actually tapped into its potential. In a biker shootout with the m109r, vtx1800, warrior 1700, valkyrie, vmax, and a few other bikes, the vrod came in 2nd! I couldn't believe it. The vmax came in 1st and is also a 1200cc. Goes to show bigger isn't always better with the motor. Of course that was with stock bikes. I checked out that vid (super cool!). Looks like both bikes were heavily modified! That's probably the coolest stryker I've ever seen!

      I had an m90 a while back. Just going off my subjective recollection, I was a bit underwhelmed by it. But that wasn't stacking up the two side by side, nor was I ever really riding it with performance in mind. So, it is quite possible I didn't tap into its true potential. I can see where the M90 would be a good choice over the m109r for some riders.
