SOLVED: War Hero Recovered From The Mighty Mississippi River
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 22 มิ.ย. 2024
- Having the case of William Weber on our schedule, our schedules aligned with @DougBishop to take the case a few weeks early. We immediately headed to East Moline, Illinois to begin our search.
Bill had disappeared, without a trace, March of 2024. The search began for him immediately, via land, air, and water. It seemed as the whole community was looking out for the 92-year-old veteran and his 2012 silver Malibu.
Doug was able to make his way to the area a day earlier and searched an enormous amount of water, narrowing down our search area tremendously. Within the hour of entering the Mississippi River, Chaos Divers and USC had located an unknown vehicle. From the sonar reading, the lack of details on the vehicle indicated that it had not been on the river floor long.
Doug was able to make entry and make his way to the car, where he was able to confirm that the car was Bill’s and he was in the vehicle. The feeling was different this time. To be able to bring home a decorated war veteran within a day of Memorial Day was an absolute honor. Many teams had searched for Bill, but it seemed most appropriate that he was found on the day he was, with his loving family not far away awaiting word of his return.
We cannot thank Bill’s loved ones enough for trusting us and allowing us the opportunity to be a part of their search.
Keep Diving! It’s not worth it to stop! 💙

I'm glad you could bring Mr. Weber home to his family. RIP, sir, and thank you for your service!
My Dad was a Korean War veteran. He celebrated his 16th birthday in Korea. My Dad would have turned 89 this year. Losing a parent at any age is difficult. Thank you guys for finding Mr. Weber.❤😊🕊️ Prayers for everyone. 🙏🕊️🙏
My Dad was also a Korean War veteran. He passed away 4 months ago at 90. You are right. Losing a parent leaves a deep void I was unprepared for. May our fathers rest in dear, sweet peace. I am so thankful Mr Weber's family can have closure, too.
Great seeing Doug and you together again. Thank you for giving the family answers and bringing Mr. Weber home.

Thank you all for recovering Mr. Weber and giving his family closure. RIP, Sir. Thank you for your service to our country.
Thank you!!!
From what I understand, it's a lot harder to locate a vehicle that went under really recently.
The other people searching probably didn't have the expertise or experience you guys do, so it's understandable they didn't find anything.
It's good that they tried though.
The vehicle's surfaces haven't built up any silt or mud yet. So the sonar is bouncing off of bare metal surfaces. Angle of reflection = angle of incidence. So a lot of the sonar energy ends up bouncing away from the sonar. This is called specular reflection. As silt and mud start clinging to the car, the surface becomes irregular allowing some of the sonar energy to reflect back to the sonar unit.
@@major__kong Thank you for the explanation! 😊

Me too. As soon as I heard the news of Mr. Weber's disappearance, I knew it would be Jacob, Lindsay, and Doug that would find him. The Mighty Mississippi isn't the place for less experienced divers to try to hone their skills.

Good to see Doug join yall. Thank you for all yall do.
As Doug said, it is because of your great expertise that YOU recognized his vehicle on sonar where others did not. Nice to hear Doug asking for prayer, a first I've heard in all his work. A great team effort with Doug (thank you for covering the windows!), CD, the local emergency services, and the towing company.
Thank you for all you do. I pray for you all. Prayers for his family in this difficult time.
I love it when all of you get together. No egos just pure love and respect for each. The strong bond is the willingness to work hard to bring loved ones home to friends and families.
Thank you for finding Bill. He was the same age as my father and a Korean War veteran as well. It made me sad to see that he was found in the water, but very thankful he was brought home. Bill seemed like a very lovely man. ❤

new subscriber to this channel. I love that you were able to bring closure to this family without being dramatic like another channel likes to do. You all made this about the deceased and their family. Not about yourselves. Thank you for bringing a veteran back.

I think this one was one of the most emotional videos I've seen of yours because we struggle so much as a country and mental illness with our Vets. They literally give their lives for us and our family. Then to know the struggles on top of that as the elderly face dementia toward the end of life and much more. It is the Elderly and the Heros we owe it all to and we need to keep and protect them as long as possible
Thank you for your work to bring this hero home. ❤
rest in peace Mr weber and my condolences to the Weber Family, to Chaos divers and Doug Bishopthatnk you for bring a hero home
