I just tried this same setup with my Mahindra tractor to try and diagnose why my front wheel assist isn't working. I blocked one rear wheel and tries spinning the other to see of my axle would engage and for the life me I could not spin the tire. As hard as I tried it wasn't moving. And no, the parking brake was not set.
I'm not positive how to move forward with repair - but I know that the splines at the front have shredded up within the coupler (the coupler prior to the front axle). So, I assume the ball bearings have fallen out or shredded up as well in the process. I can freely move the entire shaft forward and back at least an inch or two. Can anyone advise on the process of fixing this? I'm assuming I probably need a new shaft as well as coupler at the very least.
Thank you for this video. I have a problem with my 4WD not working and this is going to help me find the problem. One thing I noticed on mine is that I can turn one front wheel and the other front wheel turns in the opposite way like you said, but there is a lot of obvious slippage between the two. Your video kind of shows the slippage, but I was wondering if that is normal for this tractor?
interestting. i am on my 2nd front end. first one gave out at 2 months. peckerhead who sopld it to me diidnt want to replace it. the problem on mine is in the pumpkin. the bearing assembly took a s... took front pumpkin to a guy who does axles annd he rebuilt it. now when i have time i will slap the rebuild one in and have the broken one rebuilt also. i replaced my hydraulic fluid w ith new hollad 133 fluid and have had no problems. all the drive fluid replaced with 80-90 gear oil.
Thank you

how did you get it fixed though
Good job of explaining how things work under there. But, how did the drive balls disappear in the first place?
