    I have TS100 from Miniware and it is super useful. Sorin, it 20mA there, not 200mA. Nice review.

    Nice little tool, I have a cordless one about the same size that I bought around 20-25 years ago and it still works, it heats up using butane fuel you fill it up like a cigarette lighter. I'm sure I bought it at Radio Shack when they where still around.

    It looks very cool. I think I will put some double sided tape under the base as it looks light and prone to travel around the desk ( that might annoy me to have a travelling base). But definitely an interesting tools for on-site jobs.

    They have the bend tip J02, but often you're loosing a lot of thermal power with such tips. My favorite would be the D25 they offer. I'm using a D24 on my JLC for 90% of the stuff i do. It's a great average size. Not too big, but also not too small so it still has a lot of thermal mass.

    A cordless soldering iron is useful in the forest or in the desert. In an apartment where there is an electrical network, using battery-powered appliances is costly and not environmentally friendly.

    I wish they had incorporated a similar tip removal procedure like the TS80/P and had added some sorta heat-resistant silicone in the Iron Holder portion of the Station to prevent accidentally burning the plastic.

    What melting point is your "low melting point solder" if I may ask, please?
    I wonder how long it would be before an owner of this nice new iron pokes the hot bit into the base unit screen when they try and put the soldering iron back into the base unit?

    im sceptical! i would very soon tire of putting it back on the charger. cordless vor me is butane for in the field use. this is a gimmik - nothing wrong with a cable - you always know where the iron is if its attached to a wire right?

    • @orange11squares
      @orange11squares ปีที่แล้ว

      problem with buttane/gas soldering iron is that you don't have temperature control, you don't have screen to see parameters, you miss a lot of things, it is basically a primitive and bulky version of a cordless electric soldering iron.

    It's a hybrid with Li-ion, not really a supercapacitor. A minimum of 2.5V according to the datasheet, otherwise it will lose capacity. You can't close it.

    I wonder why a super capacitor rather than a same size battery. It can not store enough energy. So the benefit is elimination of the electric cord?

    I left the computer on (toshiba r830-u16) until the battery ran out of charge and turned off on its own. When I got back, I turned on the computer, but it starts with a low sound and nothing appears on the screen. I removed the RAM and CMOS and tried the TV screen and the same problem remained.
    I need help, thank you.

    • @miftosaurus
      @miftosaurus ปีที่แล้ว +1

      we already have for some time BT/wifi multimeters, thanks to miniaturisation, we already have some wireless probes... a bit bulky, but anyway...
      just a search for "wireless multimeter" will wield a lot of results, mostly exact!... :)
      the usual suspects: Aneng and Fnirsi! :D
      but i know their internals, well, not exactly, but i know the basic principle, so, i will craft mine, using some old parts and stuff... it will be bulky, but this will be crafted by my own hands, not shopped! :P
      (funnily enough, i have a non-working fitness bracelet, kid-size... i get it for free, because wasn't working, and i wanted it to reuse their internals: accelerometer, pedometer, etc., for a self-crafted Pipboy. before hacking and slashing, i tried to see what was the problem... ultra banal and usual, broken li-po batt, used a a power supply set to 4.1, it was working fine. checked his mcu, a reasonably... old Nordic nrf one... some site search and... he-he-heeee... now, i have something nice, to play happily!!! :D)

    A complete package with 5 tips and a power supply will cost you around $300. That is way too much.
    It doesn't last for 7 minutes, it take 7 minutes to a full charge. I wonder how many seconds you can solder with it without putting it back in the charger, 60 seconds?
    Please do a test, so we can see how long time you can solder with it on one fully charge ...
