You even don't know how grateful I am for this video. Just had the shittiest few days I ever had in my life (10 years ago my father died the worst way I can imagine). This vid just snapped me out off one off the worst spiritual down spirals I ever had I believe. Thank you for just showing, and remembering me that the world is interesting and joyful enough to enjoy it as it is.
Interesting adventure. The hot spring is inviting. The statues were a labor of love. Who wouldn't want to spend eternity standing proudly beside their life partner, overlooking a serene forest? The man's face is so detailed it almost seems life like. The geocache was the icing on the cake of this episode . Going the extra mile to preserve beautiful places you (and we) were rewarded with the answer to the enigma in the wilderness. I think of it as receiving a reward for good deeds. One of my favorites. Carry on, oh wayward child. You bring the beauty of nature to those of us who are not able to explore. Peace and good health to you.... And Thank you
That hot spring may have very well saved my life one night twenty years ago. We camped upstream on the North side, and I had the bright idea to go minimalist for this trip and only brought a blanket to sleep with. Three o'clock in the morning and I wake up, freezing. The socks I had hung out to dry outside were solid as a rock - frozen. Everything was frozen. But there was moonlight and I knew if I followed the trail downstream I'd end up at the springs. So I hoofed it as fast as I could in the dark, (had I run into Bigfoot I would not have cared) and jumped in right where you were and stayed there until the sun was up. The poor guy who showed up with his gf in the morning was not happy at all. "I thought we were going to be alone..." (the parking is at the top, and there were no cars there so he must have thought _score time_ ... Ask me how many f***s I gave. Pulled the brim of my hat low over my eyes and tuned them out. I love that hot spring.

At one end of the winter skating rink there was a snack trailer where I had enough money to buy two hot chocolates that cold, skating day. On my way up the slope to buy my first one a man called out asking if I would buy him a coffee. He gave me the money and I went up to order the two hot drinks. I never realized there are so many hot springs around! That's a lot of geo thermal activity! Steer clear of those fires! Hot springs are not good for dogs. They run higher temps than humans. Amazing balance you posses. As a retired chef/cook I must say, the shake machines were probably shut off. When a restaurant closes its after a lot of cleanup. She probably wanted to go home. Lol but she should have been polite about it.
Bad idea to dynamite it. Man's intervention is normally screw up. Oh, I so want to be there! It looks marvelous. Super video - loved your song about Chicken Man and June:)
The statues remind me of the statues of the "Terra Cotta Army" found in China. These even appear to have been made in the same way. They're hollow to save weight, and the construction method itself is quite interesting.
It looks like that huge overhanging rock is doomed to eventual collapse for sure. That hot spring is constantly dissolving/erroding away the minerals in it and weakening it's structure.
@@tomfrye9037 Yeah, the desolved minerals in the hot spring water are deposited over time and have created that big 'slap' on the side of the stream. Pity the structure is cracking; nature gives, and nature takes.

Haven't been out that way for a few years, and itching to do some traveling and soaking! I love living vicariously through your fun adventures. Keep up the great work and please be safe. These fires are just devastating, who knows how it's all gonna shake out but it's deterred us all from heading out from Sacramento to anywhere in the Sierras. Love your work! 😀
I think this is the best of all. I only hope these artifacts Will be left alone. Lot of work went in to them. In less than a year the man was right gas over 5 bucks. So we don't like to manage forest fuel, but it's ok blow up natures rock in its life cycle with gravity. The logic or lack there of a great many people who own sheep skins, is unbelievable . Again great adventure.
"Dad Miller" is a golf course. So, I would guess that's a ball marker for golf. You put it down in the spot on the green so you can clean your ball and replace in the same spot so you can then putt.
Anaheim Hills, Tustin Ranch, and Dad Miller are public golf courses in Orange County. Dad Miller became famous - at age 93!!! - in the 1970s when he hit a Hole In One (the Holy Grail of golfers...I got one elsewhere!) at the 11th hole at the now named Dad Miller Golf Course. Dad became a minor television celebrity here on the local news channels, which led to an endorsement and advertising commercial from a big Savings and Loan (remember those?). The City of Anaheim renamed the golf course to commerate this event. At a banquet, Dad Miller was asked about all the fuss and said "Guys, I am glad just to be here." Not sure if he made the Guinness book of world records.

I have to address your rant about floss picks...I only have the use of one hand so I would have trouble useing regular floss....Floss picks are so much easier to use... I'm the one wh made you the journal 💚☺️ Still
I never realized there are so many hot springs around!
Yes they shut down the ice cream sales about 45 min. before closing , then run all the ice cream out and clean it all up for the next day. 😉
Always enjoy your videos... This one is one you'll have to put in the archives of top videos....
Keep on lady friend, keep them coming
It looks like that huge overhanging rock is doomed to eventual collapse for sure. That hot spring is constantly dissolving/erroding away the minerals in it and weakening it's structure.
I actually think the hot spring created the deposit that's now so heavy that it's breaking up. Just me thinking...
@@tomfrye9037 Yeah, the desolved minerals in the hot spring water are deposited over time and have created that big 'slap' on the side of the stream. Pity the structure is cracking; nature gives, and nature takes.
@@pixelpeter3883 Yeah, out in the open, the deposits don't harden like stalactites in a cave.
Another delightful adventure. Thank you so much. That you discovered those mysterious statues and then found the story behind them was is a bonus. Happy trails.
Love love LOVE the geocache find!
Loved it!
That was a beautiful video, Sarah. Happy Labor Day Weekend. I also had that cookie tin.

Thank you for yet another fascinating video. I'm a big fan of the Eastern Sierra and all it's history, and hot springs. 😀
So sweet blog maam. 👌👍
WTF Hussy !!! Thats Awesome !!!
Great find.
So beautiful.
Wish I was a grudge then you could hold me for ever.. lmao
Beautiful memorial! Watch out for them there Rattlers! You have awesome singing voice and creativity!
Your singing is so funny 😂😂😂
"Dad Miller" is a golf course. So, I would guess that's a ball marker for golf. You put it down in the spot on the green so you can clean your ball and replace in the same spot so you can then putt.
Dad Miller golf course is where Tiger Woods used to play golf with his dad when he was growing up!
Dad Miller in Anaheim...Grew up there..Brookhurst & Lincoln
