Suggestions: you are very knowledgeable and competent with solving issues but please to slow down on your explanation. It is difficult for non-tech Savvy people to follow the directions. I had to pause the vid so many times and rewind it so that I could catch important things that I was missing. Also, it would help to have a much larger display of the items being pointed out to be selected from that you are describing. At some points I actually had to pause the screen and get a magnifying glass out to see what it was that you had selected or typed in. But, once I did, I did get my system fixed properly. Again, thank you so much because yours was the only one that fixed it. I ended up reloading win 10 though to fix the issue. None of the previous steps worked.
Your instructions are fantastic and easy to follow. The problem is windows 10. It is a broken operating system. I never had issues like this with windows 7. This is so time consuming and a waste of valuable time. I have been looking into a Linux operating system. Once I know enough about it, I am deserting Windows for good

Great video. I got a corrupt internal system registry on the DISM and sfc. Ran a chkdsk /r C: (will offer to run on restart - took 4+ hours) to fix the corrupted registry then rerun the DISM and sfc as outlined in this video and then reboot and run Settings => Windows Update as normal.

I have been trying to install 1803 all day today and been faced with my system getting stuck at 94% on the windows update screen after the system reboots to install the update. I have ran the troubleshooter; I have tried to do an in-place install of Windows 10 1803; I have run both `sfc /scannow` and `DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth` to no avail. I am running Windows 10 Pro 17133.1. The weird thing is it says I am on 1803, but Windows 10 will say I need to update to 1803. Any thoughts would be appreciated, Brian! Thanks!
Please Brian make a video on when will Microsoft release Service Pack 2 for Windows 7. If I make a fresh installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, I will get hundreds of updates which will take days to install. Why did Microsoft not yet released Service Pack 2 for Windows 7?
Very nice video. I have tried all these things in the past, even a clean install of Windows (which took forever with my slow DSL connection). My problem is my Windows Update used to work fine, but started giving an error message of, _"We couldn't check for updates, because you aren't connected to the Internet. Make sure you have a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection and try again."_ I use DSL, so I don't know how to make it stop telling me it can't see a WiFi connection...because I don't use WiFi :) I even had a Microsoft tech remotely take over my screen and fiddle with stuff, but he couldn't figure it out either. Like I said, the update tool used to work fine, but with the last update in Oct I think, I started getting this error message. Quite a bugger.

Start ups were slow afterwards and the temptation was to hard boot but I desisted and eventually windows opened, so just leave it alone. Great fix for many issues as no exe files were working. I still have my issue I tried all your ways but my PC continues to give a error message the driver has a update to update it it says I have to update my windows everytime I try to update windows it gives the error 0x80070422 I have looked up the issue and tried more than 20 different ways which none have seem to helped this is just after I had to update to a newer drive then the drive had a update which it won't allow me to do till after the windows issue is solved.

Now all I get are update errors and even the update troubleshooter says it's being blocked from starting. How the hell does the troubleshooter have an error message. Ugh!

Chris, Windows compress the old version of the system and put the new one, in fact, all the your old version of Windows are still in your computer. That´s because if you don´t like the new version, you can comeback to the old one. I don´t understand this option, because they don´t give support to the old versions, so is a very stupid madness.
I found an article saying to change to Google's DNS settings for your network, and for whatever reason it finally found new updates. Can't guarantee it will work for anyone but, it worked for me after spending over 2 hours trying everything I could find on repairing windows updates. I changed both the (IPv4/IPv6) but it varies. I suppose you could use cloudflares DNS as well.

I didn’t see one procedure that was missing which is deleting the Software Distribution folder after stopping the WU, bits, and crypto services then starting them following a reboot. I’ve used this a few times to solve Windows Update issues. If you look around people have written scripts (.bat) files to do all this automatically.
I am wondering if I should wait for April Update and try to install that rather than dealing with KB4551762. Doesn't effect anything I do on that laptop. It's mainly a media device for Music at work and TH-cam viewing. Also, I use Chrome for browsing. Feature updates normally fix problems because they are a in place installation.

All you need to do is stop windows update in services wait 1 min close all open windows and shut down computer, re-start comp go to windows update it should now say that the computer has stopped, open windows services again and restart windows update wait a little and hey windows starts to update again!!!easy fix.

I have tried everything and still can't update. Why is this happening? I have tried again and again, checking all the words are types correctly before hitting the enter key.

Umm the update is downloaded and it says it only needed for a reboot but after the reboot the update is not happening

i disabled the windows update but now it is not showing on the services and other method don't works.
Guys i don't get it, so all my performance and health is ok in the windows defender but. You know the 'about' section in settings it has an X next to it, please help.

2. REGSVR32 %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL
then start your windows update service...
in services it say windows medic server updater not windows updater
surprisingly windows troubleshooter works. what a miracle it is
