Seriously, Love Wins All has more story and character development than most films I've seen. The song could not be more perfect for the story.

I think many reactors forget IU because she isn't loud or flashy. And no, that's not a slight against you or anyone else. It's just that other groups practically scream for attention. Meanwhile, IU is like, "So, you know, here's this beautiful song that is talking about [insert abstract but relatable concept here]". It doesn't have quite the same brass or boldness of, "Here is another song in which we talk about how badass we are". I mean, there's something to enjoy about both those approaches - but one is clearly more vocal than the other.
IU doesn't talk about being a badass. She just is one. She has the achievements to prove it, so what's the point?

So many people react the same way to love wins all. The pain when she covers his eye. The stunned silence through the end of the song. The small sad sound that comes out when the song ends. I had the same reaction too.
Seriously, IU’s album The Winning is a masterpiece. Every song is such a diamond. Every music video is a visual delight. IU is a true musical genius. She is definitely deservedly at the top of the industry.

the mountain of clothing is actually a recreation of an art installation with each article of clothing being a place holder for real human beings that lived real lives (the original art was 40 feet tall and they used a crane to build it). the magnitude of the pile illustrates the heaviness of all the hearts now lost. it had about 6,000 articles of clothing. it has a super meaning

Since you have done 3 videos, IU video's no less, which are all always filled to the brim with easter eggs, metaphors, symbolism and images that actually have meaning and aren't just pretty props I have to add comments 3 times, lol. Here is my well considered and frequently updated take on Holssi.
The fact that it was shot in LA, I believe is a key to what the song is about. This is the 1st time IU has made a video in the US & guess what she is coming to the West (Europe and the US) to hold concerts for the 1st time. Don't tell me there isn't a connection. And by filming here & using LA has a back drop and American dancers she is establishing a connection to her Western audience.
There have been a lot of people, in Korea particularly, who say & have been saying, that IU doesn't need to prove herself by going to the US or Europe.
It seems as if she is talking to directly to someone, and telling then her plans and to not worry about her, she has this.
The opening scene of the figure floating is IU as she is coming to LA. The disruption the we see her on the ground looking across at LA. She has used this type of device before. Specially in Above the Time and Blueming (the vibration shown in the cup of water and then the shaking in Blueming, those 2 videos along with You & I as Pt1 and. Strawberry Moon as the final part make up a trilogy +1 story concerning a decade) to show a disruption in the Time/Space/Dimension continuum.
Analyzing the Song's lyrics from this perspective
Where I lay will be somewhere much higher (by higher she doesn't mean better but rather higher risk then before. And obvious reference to the West in General and the US in particular.)
She spreading herself like Dandylion spores on the wind. (Which are carried by the wind carelessly without regard for boundaries or borders.)
She isn't going to settle on smooth ground (i.e. she is going to land and try to take root on comfortable easy terrain).
She says she is a single spore (a soloist).
On a different road. (No Korean who has only been a soloist and not part of a group o born or raised in an English speaking country has ever successfully done what IU is doing )
Fly high to bloom. (To reach her full potential)

This was my choice, it always has been (no one pressured her or said to truely make it you have to make it in the US. It's her choice and always has been. Whatever happens it's on her no one else).
The odds of it being easy are zero (acknowledging she is fully aware of what she is embarking on)

I'll even say goodbye (this sounds too much like her lyric in Eight where she is angry that her friends who passed away by suicide and " who just come and go as they please without even saying good bye". But she is saying goodbye, possibly saying she isn't committing career suicide. )

Tweety bird reference is definitely important and significant. A profile picture I saw has Tweety dressed like IU. So this reference becomes a little clearer. IU is likening herself to Tweety. Always returning to the cage which isn't a prison but rather a safe and comfortable place. Whch I suspect includes in addition to Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong Singapore etc all the places she has regularly toured ever since she started touring outside of Korea in 2017. Could it be IU's way of saying that she is leaving the cage and it's safety and comfort to see how high she can fly. To which I say go Tweety go we are all with you.
By filming this in the US with American dancers and American neighborhood etc, she is establishing a connection with her western audience.
The ending credit scene where the IU HOLSSI kite/balloon is behind the powerless gives the image that it is still in a cage and safe.
It is also interesting that the child looking out at the other kids dancing with IU, and appears to be interested but also a little nervous appears to be of Asian descent. (Meaning could be the child in IU that is still a little nervous or when she was younger the thought of doing what she is now doing was scary or that she is acknowledging those in Korea who worry about her) the worrying about her however extents to all her fans around the world.
At the end she allows the cartoonish IU go as the real IU, who is no longer wearing the Dandylion outfit of the ballon/kite gets ready to head out on her different road.
Things to note about Holssi heading into the Shopper MV. Are these to connected as IU has a want to do? You decide but consider the following.
• The county the two videos are shot in
• 1 single dancer dressed in blue
• 2 blue trash bags on top of the typical dark colored trash bags
• The almost constant presence of Dandylion seeds floating through the scenes
• The hat IU and her alter ego are wearing and the braids.
• The lyrics in Holssi "Goin to win" in Shopper the claim of "Victory"
• How many references are their in Shopper that seem to refer to her past MV's?

My last comment I promise. But your closing remarks were so poignant and relatable. All thought I rarely go a day without hearing her sing. But there are still times when just how amazing her vocal talent is, its home and shines ever brighter.
I have often felt that the combination of her vocal talents, how she chooses to use them her angelic beauty and her personality mesh in much a away that it makes her overworldly. And that her voice can heal your solo even when she is scolding you.
I have told my granddaughters that I have proof that she is in fact a angel. Because outdide her acting she doesn't cry. An neither do Angels, well except weeping angels and if I learned anything from Dr. WHO it is to stay away frombweeping angels.

You're lucky you got to Holssi late. Initially the word 'holssi' was being translated literally as 'spore'. Then after being out for a day the translation got switched to 'dandelion seed', for which holssi is a colloqual term.
By the way, Love Wins All (a title IU insisted on using) is related to the LGBTQ community (it was the hash tag that was used when marriage equality was passed nationally. This mv has a lot of symbolism but the cube is considered to represent the oppression and discrimination faced in everyday life. The Camcorder is looking at the world the way it used to be - a lens of love that lets us look beyond the appearance of the main characters. While on one level the ending is very sad, it is also one of triumph - IU and V are finally free to fly away from all kinds of oppression and pressure. As for the pile of clothes, it is a callback to Spring Day (at one point Suga sits on a pile) but both are referring to a 2010 art installation - the clothes are all that are left of the people who are no longer with us (a theme inspired from the concentration camps in WW2 where the people would disrobe before entering the showers and the clothes would be placed in large piles. Ultimately Love is the thing that will triumph over hate.
Love Wins was the original title. Love Wins is a slogan with ties to the queer community that was widely used to commemorate the United States Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage in 2015 and since the MV features a presumably cis genders relationship there was huge backlash and criticism from the Korean queer community, and the title of the MV was changed to Love Wins All. I do not think it has any relation to the LGBTQ community.
IU wrote the lyrics and Produced the video. In the behind the scenes video it is apparent that the pile of clothes is an emotional experience for IU. As when the video starts it shows her entering the building and seeing that sight and saying begrudgingly "whose I was that?" Next we see here sitting down in a hall way asking, who can I blame, I planned all of this so who can I blame."
In fact she is the producer of all 4 videos, wrote all 4 songs and co composed Holssi (don't yet know about the 4th). Putting her creative talents on full display.
The first thing that came to my mind with the scene of them looking at the pile of clothes was the images of piles of clothes, shoes, Jewelry and gold filled teeth outside the gas chambers during the holocaust. It amazed me that only 2 other reactors mentioned that imagery. It isn't a judgement, but it is a bit scary to me. As the saying goes, those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Have so many really forgotten those images or have they never been shown then?
And virtually all BTS fans responded to that scene asking if it was a reference to their MV Spring Day? An image they used as a reminder of all those lost in that tragic ferry accident. That image in Spring Day, ironically enough was inspired by an art piece in France which ironically enough was a remembrance of the holocaust. Several reactors knew that the image in Spring Day was inspired by the art piece, but none of them knew or mentioned the fact that was inspired to remember the holocaust. Now to be fair on that point the ferry accident was any accident that took many lives particularly young ones. But the events depicted in this video like those of the holocaust were not accidents but purpose driven events.
And it seems to me that so many especially young people have forgotten or were never fully taught history, that we appear to be on a similar path of repeating history. When we have people like Taylor Swift helping to raise money for a terrorist front group who has as their stated offical objective to wipe the Jews from the face of the earth. No other organization has such a purpose driven stated mission. And so many are willingly and openly supporting that cause. No body is without some fault here but only one side has the level of hate that it's political organization has as it stated goal extermination of another race.

I love your reactions and have missed your IU reaction. By the way there are 2 videos, one of the behind the scenes of the making of this and the other is of IU's recording session of this song. Which she did while recovering from the flu. It is simply incredible to watch see her push through the pain and discomfort and still produce the sound Angel's are jealous of.

the message is how our world will never run out of hate, discrimination, injustice and violence, but if we continue to love each other (e.g. IU with Uaenas), our love will see us through to the end. Our love will keep us together until we fade away. 🥲So instead of being able to escape, they are fading together. Face what is scary with someone you trust and see things beautifully as long as you are with someone you love. This is Jieun's song for UAENAS 🥹 her fans. V is the representation of his fans. The cube is the representation of hatred or negative people who do not accept those who are different than them. In the mv there are many but they are alone. Hate will always be alone, although in great quantity, but love will always be accompanied and that is why it is stronger. Even though he often loses battles. V is blind in one eye because we fans don't see or know everything that happens with her, but she will be our guide and that's why she takes him by the hand all the time, guiding him along a safe path. That is why although faceless people criticize them for their actions they do not give it importance. IU wanted to defend V (her fans) but IU knows that we would never let her face evil alone.
