I knew this mv was going to be excellent, but I didn't expect it to move we all like this. The tenderness (almost innocence?) between them was so disarming. And then the hopelessness of it all... I was so immersed that I could feel their fear and despair.. V and IU's acting and chemistry are so excellent. I loved the fact that Taehyung was not the stereotypical fearless male lead. That man was terrified (he acted it so well!!) and that made everything, including his moment of bravery, feel even more real.

V was in one kdrama (not as the main character) back in 2016/17. After 2017, he became too busy due to BTS popularity rising. He was offered many, but he couldn't accept.

No matter how many times I’ve seen this MV, it still gets me. It’s so powerful and well done. Their chemistry is amazing. Actually, Taehyung(V) is pretty good. He behaved well as usual, even though he did not sing, his acting overshadowed everything. Basically, he's an actor. He acted when he was in his early teens, or I think in his twenties, in the legendary Korean series Hwoarang. His acting was great, and we may see him in an act after he leaves the army, and IU is considered the best vocalist in Korea and among K-Pop fans. You guys are the best. Your reactions are amazing. Background - This song is the most covered song of IU's. It is about understanding that when a love one is hurting you can't fix things for them. But what you can do is simply be there and comfort them until as IU says in her lyrics they come through their especially long dark night. This songs brings more tears to peoples eyes that don't even know what the song is about, such is the power of IU's voice and talent.

Omgosh. No one explained much. To give you a brief idea, yes, V is blind in one eye, IU is mute or some think deaf, and the cube kinda represents destroying (not the best word) people with disabilities or society who thinks of people as too different. They run to hide in a wedding store. Through the video cam, they see each other the way they imagine as happy. As you saw, her gown is actually tattered when they run away. I’m not going to mention other things. I already suggested that you react to IU’s tv behind the scenes shooting of the MV. If you wish to hear V and IU sing together, they sang 1 of his solos when she interviewed him on her show IU’s palette. I already mentioned who else she knows and friends with in BTS. (Suga, JHope, (and also JK is a big fan of hers too). Suga has performed with her and both are also producers. Suga wrote and produced one of her songs. Her voice is so angelic I agree! Lovely reaction! This MV is marvelous and so far I haven't found anyone whose heartstrings didn't get pulled by this. If you want to see how well IU's and V's voices blend together, you should react to IU's palette. It's similar to Suga's Suchwita and V promoted Layover there. They did a really lovely duet of IU's song Ending Scene there which really showcases how well V's voice goes with other singers. I really hope we get to see more collab songs with him in the future. His amazing baritone is still criminally underrated IMO. I really hope, he'll do a collab with IU in the future knowing how good they sound together. Her voice is angelic. Your comparison to a Disney princess really fits here. 😊

IU recorded the song AFTER 2 days of filming the mv in extreme cold. Her health was not best, with onset of flu. Her vulnerabity of sickness comes thru in the mv. They used her guide for the mv filming.

I forgot to mention the poor sensitive guy on the right… the one that was almost sobbing.. that’s what I feel like everytime I watch the MV…. It still nuts to me how a MV could make even the toughest person tear up😢 so so beautiful!!
Such a beautiful and emotional video featuring amazing acting and vocals that makes the experience so personal. I really do hope that Tae & IU do other projects together both film and music as they have great chemistry and when he was on her show their voices also blended so well. Also at the end it was pointed out by someone that he can hear what is coming but she can't, while she can see what is coming but she covers his good eye so he can't. Both cry at the same moment though and from the same left eye. Also the right side of his face seems to have burn scars so maybe he had encountered a cube before but got away at the last minute. This cube was relentless in its pursuit and even seemed to change size so it could come into the building. Earlier when it was flying overhead you could tell no way it could fit inside those hallways. I also noticed the cube waits for them to stop fighting and accept their fate. If you notice there are no other people so obviously no person is able to meet the criteria this cube holds that would allow someone to survive. The camcorder that kept showing a better reality, was giving us the viewer a happier version of the events. They both rise in the air together, their bodies still solid, while the reality is that they have been turned to ash. At the top of the camcorder right before it turns off you see ash particles in the air. I also loved how the clothes landed together on the pile. Again all of this symbolizing that even though they seemingly lost to the cube, it couldn't destroy their love for each other. They stayed together in life and death, so indeed their love did win. I can't get enough of this MV, the acting is Oscar level and combined with the award worthy vocals and lyrics it's both heartbreaking but also heartwarming that at least they went together.

There is a behind the scenes out there showing the shooting of the video in bitter cold weather. On another video IU is doing the final recording of the song and is terribly ill, yet makes that song beautiful. Such a pro. The song is so hauntingly beautiful.

Both of them have a pure personality and it is reflected in this MV that touches our hearts and moves us to tears. Can't wait to see Tae acting in a drama with IU someday!

Here is some extra info about the music video... Director Um Tae Hwa released a guide explaining the MV and gave 4 Key points.
First, the "cube" signified the discrimination and oppression that are prevalent in the daily lives of the main characters.
Second, the "camcorder" represents the "lens of love," an important "device" that allows us to look at the beautiful things in the world beyond the internal or external appearance of the characters.
Third, IU and BTS V became the main characters in a "survival story of a dystopian worldview of someone who cannot speak and sees the world only through his left eye." Despite the difficulty, feeling hurt and exhausted, they relied on each other despite "cube" and tried to overcome it in the end.
Fourth and last, the "wedding dress and tuxedo" symbolize the "fruit of love." At the end where they are seen rising in the air, it depicts that they are finally "free to fly away from all kinds of oppression and pressure."

Just in case no one mentioned it, IU's company statement said the Cube represents society's judgment on imperfection. V is blind in one eye and she is deaf, both looked down upon in society. In the video they are the only ones left meaning the cube judged everyone to be imperfect because we are all flawed in some way. This was really surprising and watching them was amazing. OMG. Your reaction was awesome. How you didn't even know it was V!? Priceless.
