    The major reason people can’t visit the Lascaux Caves is because people going in side were inadvertently causing damage to the paintings in the cave

    • @Eytaris
      @Eytaris 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      the paintings are so old that artificial lighting and flashes from photo cameras are damaging the pictures, the buildings made to accommodate visitors damaged the natural equilibrium that preserved the caves and the simple exhaled breathing of the visitors facilitated the proliferation of bacteria and fungi contaminating the murals, to this day, scientists and engineers are working tirelessly to discover a long-term solution to preserve the site, the site is closed off the public since 1963 and scientists are limited to 200 hours of presence per year, including for the manual cleaning of the fungi mycelium strands on the murals.

      @@jengleheimerschmitt7941 I watched another video covering these caves a few months ago. The caves were opened to public at one point, true, but the main reason it was closed wasn't due to vandalism or littering etc. It was the very fact that humans are in the caves at all: The air grew more humid from the water vapours we exhale, and that was causing moulds to take root and threaten the prehistoric paint. So the French government sealed off the caves to the public, built a knock-off elsewhere, and opened that up to the public instead.

    • @wjm154
      @wjm154 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not only was it littering and vandalism but the moisture from all the breathing of the people crowded into the caves caused the paintings to begin to deteriorate, there is now a life sized replica near the sealed caves that the public can visit

    Qin Shi Huang's tomb was written to have multiple rivers of mercury that were supposed to pool around his coffin. Not too long ago they sampled the soil around his tomb and found high levels of mercury in the earth so it's pointing to be true. I think the coolest description of his tomb is how they supposedly built an entire recreation of what imperial china looked like while he was alive with rivers (of mercury of course), trees, townspeople, and all. I bet it looks splendid (ya know...besides the dead concubines and court officials that might be in there)

And finally if that seed vault is so impossible to enter and only a hand full of people know how to even enter the place isn’t it useless some very specific elites survive? A note on the Lascaux Caves- the French government has actually recreated an exact replica of the caves a short distance away, so tourists can ‘tour the caves’ without damaging the paintings. This was done because of the overwhelming public pressure to tour the caves.
    The real caves were open for a short while to the public, but because they hadn’t been exposed to air completely for thousands of years, being sealed off in the cave, the moisture in our breath was causing issues with the pigments used by the artists.
    Also, camera flashes were seriously messing with the pigments, causing them to fade alarmingly quickly. Think ‘no flash photography’ on the Mona Lisa- same reason.
    It’s amazing what you retain from high school and your acceptance based advanced art courses.

    Town isn't actually named Chernobyl, that was the name of the nuclear plant. The town was called Pripyat & was quite the cosmopolitan place! Quite a lot of people [tourists, not only locals] do visit. Legally. They get individual radiation meters & are taken on guided tours to areas deemed safe for durations deemed safe.
    There are also areas not far from the plant where people have begun living & even farming again (many attempting to escape the initial Russian invasion a decade ago). The land & crops were inspected for radiation prior to moving in.. Out of concern: several agencies offered help by regularly testing areas they want to build or farm & test their crops. All have been well below allowed nuclear counts, but they're not allowed to sell the produce publicly. Quite a bit of land is safe, it's still too touchy for most ppl & random pockets of safe are mixed with random pockets of unsafe.
    Fallout was SUPER random.. Just a field or mile away could basically be glowing green & VERY dangerous! Areas in Belarus are/have been wayyyyyy more contaminated & scary. Yet people never moved, fields never abandoned, livestock never removed, etc. Of course none ever tested to not alert them, too. Whole thing is/was: 🤯

    “13 places nobody is EVER allowed to visit”
    Employees who work at those places: “am I a joke to you?”

    Ironically, one of the TH-camrs made a video visiting Chernobyl recently and he is still making videos, showing that he is completely fine, so I think it wouldn't exactly now be so deadly

      Yep I searched and apparently it’s been open to visitors since 2011.

    I was at Disney December 18th, 2020- January 4th, 2021 and they most definitely sold alcohol then. They sell alcohol in almost every separate park. Also most resorts there have bars and in house liquor stores.

    I saw the door to club 33 when I was at Disneyland, we were having lunch at an outdoor dining table right next to the door that said club 33.

    Per the wiki page:
    "In 2017, reporter Josh Robin of the NY1 channel was allowed to visit the North island and posted a video report that included some of the abandoned buildings.[29] Also in 2017, the Science Channel filmed an episode on North Brother Island for the series "What on Earth?". Journalist Dave Mosher accompanied the crew and posted a report and still photographs of the buildings and environment."

    I’ve been to club 33 a few times. It is not as fancy as I would’ve thought. Maybe the fancier places are hidden away. It was great food though and I did feel special

    My mom is a nurse, and her and a bunch of coworkers got invited to club 33 for a day. She said it was really cool. Glad I at least know someone who got to experience it.

    9 is when you're too far behind in a game of civilization but you still try to take everybody.

    If I’ve learned anything from video games, there’s definitely a legendary Pokémon on Heard Island.

    If that Shinto temple is so exclusive and only a handful of people have been there, who are doing the remodeling every 20years? Hmm

    This time you haven't done proper research going to Sentinel Island is also banned because people there are supposed to not have immunity to even common diseases like Cold and Measles. So to protect them from contracting any outside disease also is one reason.

      That doesn't make what they said incorrect. This video is aimed at places the average person can't go. And the reason the average Joe can't go to the island is because they will literally be killed on sight.

      He did do the research. You just added on a particular point that really doesn't matter. The main reason to not go to the island is because of imminent injury/death not the natives immune system
