My grandmother and mother both had the original giant Singer machines (from back in the 1960's) and knew how to use them. Well, my grandmother passed away a long time ago and so did my mom and I never got to learn. For Christmas this year, I bought myself the M1500 and so far I'm in love! I can't wait to learn how to use a sewing machine. I just want to add pockets to pants that don't have pockets! Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!! I've never been more connected to my mom and grandma than I do right now!
I've had my new machine in a box for two months. Now I have time to make masks and floor pillows for my grandson. I haven't sewed since I was a kid and help my sister Secondgirl with her projects. Thank you for this tutorial!

Sewing is something that I've wanted to relearn since I graduated high school back in 1988 - it was part of my grade 8 home ec curriculum - but never did. hi, i'm currently at 5:28 and trying to get the needle to form a knot. but the thread keeps getting stuck, and i'm not sure why. i've tried this a bunch of times, and the knot doesn't form!

Hi! please make sure that the bobbin winder spindle (where you put your bobbin) is pushed all the way over to the right. it will not spin if it hasn't fully engaged. If you plan on using thicker/tougher fabrics for your projects, I would suggest one of our Heavy Duty machines, that you can find here: www.singer.com/machines/heavy-duty/. Hi! The needle stucked up with the cloth. It doesnt move and i could not sew. I checked the bobbin underneath tjinking that there might be threads stucked up. There's none. I was able to remove the bobbin and just cut the thread. Now the cloth is left with needle. What went wrong? Nothing more could be done with it. Maybe cutting the cloth to separate it from the needle might be the solution? After that, can i make my needle go up again? It doesnt move, nothing can be done with it. It's stucked up.

I'm a 42 year old dad trying to help set this up for my daughter. The instructions are clear yet the bobbin holder on my daughter's machine has a guard that keeps popping out ? I can't seem to get the bobbon to sit correctly. It's the part with the center post that the bobbin is supposed to snap into. For some reason that part will not stay in the machine.

Make sure your top thread is fully seated in the tension discs and that the bobbin thread has also caught in the tension. If you hold the top thread taut but not tight while turning the fly wheel toward you one rotation, it should come up. Mine took weeks, however it arrived yesterday, knew there would be a delay, but then got delayed further, was very disappointed however, it's a good little machine,and I am hoping it's going to be easy to use (a sewing virgin!)
