I prefer this played on the pipe organ, for which it was composed. Here, the Cantus Firmus (CF) is too loud, and the strings of the "lautenwerke" stop of the hybrid harpsichord-organ instrument insufficient to harmonically support the CF. While this instrument is rather novel and beautiful in other performances, here, it does not do musical justice to such a stupendous Bach Chorale.

The lautenwerk is played with the principal 8’ of the organ.
