It says in the manual DO NOT STAMP CONNECTING RODS. I had a engine come in that the guy used a hack saw to cut grooves in the side of the rod. He was mad because I wouldn't build his engine with his rids.
I originally thought it was the the bearings champfer facing inside and not outside towards the body of the crank. Only know that cause I've done it lol
I have stamped hundreds of rods on disassembly. It doesn't move shit around even the tiniest little bit or change the rod's bore diameter at all. Especially with the "cracked cap" rods in a factory LS motors where they can only fit together one way. I did notice, however, that the parting line on that rod looks odd and that the rod has been double-stamped. I'd be more inclined to think somebody got the wrong cap on the wrong rod, causing your problem. The parting line on factory LS rods should be damned near invisible when properly assembled. On that one I see a big old gap, which is a giant red flag.
I thought them being stamped was wierd...good info thanks for the video.

I've seen a lot of new/used Gen 4 rods on E-Bay for about $100 to $125. Supposed take outs.

Thanks for watching. I disagree with your opinion about the stamping, but please continue with your support.
I'm glad I didn't stamp my Ls3. I don't like stamping anything in the engine.
