    Hi Gunny that's an awesome finish with that clear the gloss from it is out of this world, you are so lucky to be using these top end products they must be a joy to use but I'm just doing my thing in my home setup, I do have a paint scheme though so what I have is half decent, on my scheme the code you mentioned came out as Toyota 3R1 Red Crystal Shine on my scheme, loving the content mate👏👌👍John UK

    I shoot SNAP CLEAR from Axalta occasionally. I like the fact that I can swap around the catalysts for the AXALTA clears to get exactly what I need. I shoot with a Iwata W400 and a I pattern SATA x5500. I only shoot vintage and classic cars mostly 55-70 Corvettes and vintage Camaros.

    Clear looks great..there's a huge debate over 1.5 tips vs 1.3 tips but it depends on the clear and types of set up your using

    Hey GunMan, I have been watching your for ages and leant a lot how to paint and bought the prolite based on your advice and tried it on a few panels and bonnet which was my first time painting and it came out perfectly in a garage under a makeshift booth in a temp gazebo and drop sheets. Long story short, thank you very much for everything! I used Debeer system and seems to be a very good finish. I wonder if you would do a similar review on Debeer as im about to start on a project painting a whole car. Or what would you recommend using for a novice like me that is also not as expensive but gives good lasting results. This time im using an inflatable paint booth.

      I've used a few different systems with the air bake I'm in Scotland so I've only used a fast hardener and the slow hardener Gunny is using seems to give him more time around the car, anymore than 2/3 panels and i start to get overspray from the other panels and I'm in a booth most of the time I'm using it, the odd bumper job outside still happens but if you're using a fast hardener you have to be fast at painting around a 7 min dust free cure is what I'm looking at and a 21 min ready to denib sand and polish on the data sheet, I go 30 mins and I use a company called genrock not the most expensive out there but there an all rounder good value products and funnily enough I think standard gen-rock clear is too thick and it just doesn't work for me,
      I use there air bake clear its amazing, I keep a tin on shelf as a there if I need it, good for a fast job or a smart repair, costs £60 ish for 1.25L kit 4 to 1,
      just a few things that I would think about are , it doesn't go as thick as normal clear so i have to be more careful about polishing, edges burn through, so the job has to be super clean and extraction would really be a bonus,
      how fast can I paint this job without rushing before overspray from one side of the car lands on the otherside
      , how much more time do I have with a slower hardener,
      am i painting the roof,. can I mask up and paint the car in sections as the clear goes off quick enough
      Remembering to use paper masking only, not poly that sheeting because it may stick to fresh paint like it did last time
      It will be interesting seeing what The Gunman says to it 🎖️
      maybe you can send him over a tin off Debeer airbake clear to test out, ..
      maybe we all can send different clear airbake manufacturers products 🤔

    Tekna pro lite is hands down the best overall gun to use. I have had my own for almost 9 years now and it sprays the same as day one. I paint aircraft of any kind in Canada for one of the very few that do paint,interior and heavy maintenance

    I spray Spies in Massachusetts a bit out of Boston and I'm pretty sure the same clear is 8094 air dry for our line. I spray nearly everything with 8035 hs and slow everything. I keep 8094 stocked and use fast hardener with accelerator for spray out cards, shop floor work and any parts the boss needs out yesterday.

    I used the cromax variant of this clear and at first it was ok but after a month off using it i got nothing but trouble with it it ran of panels with a ultra thin coat , pinholes would show up if the base was just a little bit to thick , it dyed back realy bad , the clear would crack on bumperbars even flexible steel panels if you did not put a elastic additive in it wich would make the clear realy thick an glogy , and the overspray would stick to panels and you could not bury it because it was so thin , my experience with it was not very pleasant , we switched to a snap clear , it stays open for realy long but as soon as its gets past 50 degrees it is hard as a rock in 15 minutes

    • @zachnuketown

      Standox is available in the states but it's identical paint line Spies Hecker is more widely available. Although it's not cost effective as it's a top of the line paint system.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's owned by the parent company Axalta, they brand it as Cromax or Spies Hekker in the USA, I believe Spies Hekker is becoming quite common in the states.

    Hi, I have been admiring your results for some time. I have an historic vehicle I am working on - now prepping for a full respray, with doors, boot and bonnet removed. Is your workshop in the Perth WA area? If so you could make my day by doing the 2K black on the roof / body of the car. The doors etc I can manage (and flat back if I mess up), but the body is too big a challenge for where I am.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      You must either use a specific wet on wet primer or use an activator/hardener in the basecoat, or you risk losing adhesion.

    We use it really good stuff sumer locals we use 70, summer I stick with the 80 anything more than half a car the 90 we have the full colour scheme it's unbelievably good it's silly money I couldn't believe it when I moved to this job, I keep telling the bosses we don't need to bake this but they think the work is out the door quicker we have had some hot days on hot days the 90 or 95 for roofs and bonnets it's unbelievable iv never had to buff a full roof or bonnet quick wip over after 20 min to half hr out the booth the stuff is insane, I wanted to ask about the iwata kiwami 4 is it a good gun Iv been told it's very gun for price Im using sata 5000 have done for time but fancy more guns as ever second job is a tinted or 2 stage or so on even the little cars it's insane when working all on time and bonuses it's a bummer 😂
