  • Casting crank baits for shallow water walleye. Deadly and effective post spawn pattern on Devils Lake, North Dakota but these patterns can be applied to many shallow, dish bowl prairie lakes.
Using the shallow running Northland Fishing Tackle Rumble Shiner in the size 7 and size 8. Perfect walleye lure for casting up onto shallow shoreline flats. Tips on how to find fish using water temps and water visibility early in the season. Pattern will last well into the summer with the high water on Devils Lake this year.

Great video I love shallow water walleyes they fight like no other ,,, one thing I found interesting is that when I look for warm shallow water in the spring I find the dirtier the better as dirty water will always be warmer ; just goes to show everywhere is different,,👍🇨🇦🎣

That is usually how it is here as well but this year with the high water, some of the dirty water is extremely dirty where you cannot see down more than a few inches. Thanks for watching.

Great Video! thanks for the tips. Questions, do you ever fish the east end of the lake? and why would you use the alberto knot instead of Small Swivel clip to leader?

I was on the east end today and did ok. Fish both ends of the lake. I avoid using a swivel so I can reel the lure up to the rod tip easier which helps getting the crank out of shallow snags.

Really enjoyed this video Jason! My 3 main lakes I want to fish this year Big Stone,Leech and Gull. I live in the lakes area so I fish the Detroit Lakes area. Would love to hit Ontario was wondering when you went up to Canada did you have to get vaccinated?

Great video, what rod length, power, and action do you prefer for throwing those light balsa baits? I didn’t catch what rod he was using. Thank you

I have been using a Scheels Ebisu Pro this season that I really like. Seven foot / medium fast action. Great rod for pitching cranks.

Good video! What lb main line are you using? Also, what lb/size snaps do you prefer?

I use a lot of ten pound Nanofil. Believe the cross lock snaps are a size 4

Good info but wanted to give some feedback. All of the dialogue is so muffled and drowned out it's hard to make out what he's saying without the volume cranked way up.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes the audio was pretty horrendous with the strong winds we had when we filmed where we had to bury the mic. Thanks for watching.
