  • In this video I show how to use the basics in AnyRail and how to quickly build a track plan and then print it out so as to have a good representation of what your track will look like and also what track you will need for your layout

    Fantastic tutorial. Best on TH-cam on this subject. Good on yahoo mate! From down under Australia. Please make more about anyrail.

      Thanks for the comment it’s coming as soon as I get the new railway room sorted not much longer now it’s out of planning and into purchasing lol 😂

    I like Anyrail6. I didn't go as far as you did with printing everything out but I am using it as a reference. I use a lot of flex track which I can manipulate with a better flow than taking more time on Anyrail6 to make it "perfect". Great how to video! - Jason

      Thanks for the comment I agree can be quite fiddly but as long as it gets you what you need by the end that’s all that matters

    Great way to plan your layout I should have probably done it but I've enjoyed changing it all lol. Looking forward to watching the track plan grow. I came here from barnabas junction stream atb Andy

    Great vid bud, I've just downloaded and paid for the key, looking forward to getting stuck in. I've been away from the hobby for about 20 years. Planning a big layout and currently watching everything in preparation. Many thanks.

      Cheers thanks for the feedback I have a new layout planned myself but time has become a massive factor lately so have had to put it off till next year when I do I will show all my planning again to hopefully show the other things any rail can do

      @@lemingtonstation9899 awesome 👌, I'll be sure to check in regularly to watch progress...I'm debating whether to use the 40 foot loft or the garage at the moment. My last BR blue layout was around 4 sides of the loft in a previous house. Right back at the beginning of DCC. I'm going to do another 60's to 80's layout, all Bachman tractors and rats, I'll do some vidz when I get started.

    A very informative video, I've got very frustrated with anyrail as I just don't know how to use it plus my computer skills are not very good.
    I will give it another go after your tutorial thanks.

    Have you thought about taking a 1:1 size plan, gluing it down to the board and installing your track or cork directly over the template? I see a lot of AnyRail users remove the plan from the bench and proceed to create grids on the board to transfer the centerlines. Why not work directly on top of the template after its been glued down? Thanks for sharing your expertise.

    • @lemingtonstation9899
      @lemingtonstation9899  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Keith this has been a thought but this can cause problems further down the line as to speak as you are adding a layer of paper between the wood and the cork, which is another point of failure if something isn’t quite glued down properly then this can also cause rippling when glueing ballast and so on thanks for the comment and hope you enjoyed the video

    Very good and very much aimed at modellers giving it a try.
    I’ve watched other TH-cam videos on any rail and they go into much depth with multilayers.
    I feel most modellers just want help with the track plan
    Was the plan you did on the free sample ? Or did you purchase the software package ?
    Terry

    • @lemingtonstation9899
      @lemingtonstation9899  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the free software and I’m hoping to do a step by step guide showing each level of the program so people can just watch the parts they want to but I’ve just moved house so the layout is now going to be changing massively so I think I’ll be filming these while I’m planning the next layout

    I have a layout approx 9x9 ft with a well in the middle. Could I make the L shape you demonstrate then mirror copy it to establish the shape I need? Or is there a tool fir cutting out the well. Thanks fir doing this

    I may have missed it in the video but are you able to save your work in the trial version? I've gone through the laying of the track, saved and then the next day its gone? Probably user error! I like the printing aspect but was trying to design more than just a small section. Thanks

    • @lemingtonstation9899
      @lemingtonstation9899  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try going to save another plan again and see where the file is being saved to sometimes it can put the save file in some random places but the answer is yes you can save in the trail version

    Seems like that the any rail cab system uses existing manufacturer track libraries but what if you wanted to design your own track would any real work for that or would you have to use a different CAD system and can you design your own library for your hand built tracks?

    Hi
    When you printed your plan out did you have too cut the edges off every piece of paper as I am trying to print mine out, but the image seems to have a border round it, I have tried turning border off but ive still got the border round it
    Regards
    Mick

    • @lemingtonstation9899
      @lemingtonstation9899  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mick thanks for the watching and the comment yes there are borders I only cut two sides one long and one short and then used the other sides to overlap and either pin or tape it together if it’s a larger layout then you could possibly pop to a local printing shop and they could help print it on larger paper I have seen others do this hope this helps any more questions please don’t hesitate to drop another comment

      @@lemingtonstation9899 Ive managed too sus it out, on the setup printer tab there's a tick box that says borderless, you put a tick in that box and it prints without a border,
