Because 42 is the answer for every question. Thanks for the series. Started in the middle, and decided to restart at the beginning.

Really appreciate you sharing your wisdom in using this CAD program, especially because I have zero experience.

Hi Dave, first of all I have trouble turning my PC on and off so when I came across your channel I thought it might be helpful.
For the past 12 months I have been looking at a suitable track planning program and this is my program of choice.
Not only does it look good but it appears to be the simplest one to use, which is great for an old fart like me.
So having watched this video I think it's a good choice.
Your first three tutorials are great and already I have learnt a lot and now looking forward to understanding more and hopefully finally transferring my drawn track plan to AnyRail6.
Fingers crossed re my progress and again thank you very much for the tutorials.
    Regards Chris

Thanks for doing this series. I'm brand new at this and was a little confused. I've watched a couple of those videos that you mentioned and was not getting the answers. I have no CAD knowledge so hopefully this will help. Just bought the Anyrail6. Stay Safe & God Bless!!!

Hi John, my best advice is to follow along with what I do on some of the videos. The other thing is just play with the program after watching a video. CAD can be very intimidating. Some of the engineers I worked with had problems picking it up at first. A lot of what I learned about Anyrail came from just trying different things and finding a way that works for me. There may be other ways, there are other ways, but if I think what I have found will work, that's what I stick with until I learn something new. That's the fun of CAD. I try to be as complete as possible but some of the early videos are not as detail intensive because I only planned on making 4 or 5 videos at that time. I am always happy to answer questions you may have and will try and duplicate any problems you have. I figure anything I can learn can be added into a future video to help everyone. Don't be afraid to ask me. Also, check out the anyrail forums too. Good luck and thanks for watching! Dave

I've watched nearly all of your videos. Thank you SO much for publishing them.
One thing I've gots-ta-know... how do you color your track per layer? It seems that is what you are showing us in this first video. I cannot figure it out. Thank you for your help!

      Hi Michael,
You read my mind. I am working on a couple of new videos and I was changing the color and I got to thinking 'I don't think I have gone over this very well. Next Video!'
Anyway, I used the 'Create Section' function. AnyRail should do the following, allow you to color individual pieces of track or groups of track and allow you to group items together. Sadly, it does not allow either of those. You can get around it by using 'Create Section'. Basically, whenever you select a piece or pieces of track, you get the 'Tools-Track' ribbon at the top. Go and click 'Create Section' and a box will pop up allowing you to name that section ( in two notes) specify it usage and give it a color. You don't have to name it or what it's for if you don't want to. When you do this you will note that instead of round connection points you now have triangles where the section begins and ends. This is because AnyRail thinks you want to create a isolated electrical section. You can remove the triangles but then it doesn't show as being connected to anything. But it does allow you to color code sections. I go over this briefly in Video 10 at around the 7 minute mark. I think a new video is going to be made really really soon.
      Hope this helps you!
      Dave

Thanks for these videos! Any possibility of putting them into a playlist?

    • @steampoweredradio2981

Hi. I probably should do that. I'll have to look into exactly how playlists are created and then see what others have done. I'll check it out. Dave

I just purchased anyrail 6 partly because I like the videos you have put together. Thank you.
I can't seem to locate video 3B. Is it still online?

Hi Michael. The mention of Video 3B is a case of not thinking before I open my mouth. I realized that I pretty much covered everything in Video 3. I should probably go and edit that out sometime. Sorry for any confusion it may have caused. Glad you like the videos! Dave

Hi Matt. The design is done in AnyRail and I just need to get a few other things taken care of and then I'll start putting the script together. It will also contain a couple of things to make video 36 and 38 a little more clear. Dave
