Would LOVE more Dillinger collaborations but I think DEP is actually done as well and I don’t think Patton planned on any more. Fun fact: a band I sang and played rhythm gtr for in the early 2000’s recorded our first 2 track release in the studio and started our project the same afternoon they finished irony is a dead scene! Mike Patton’s smelly gas mask was left on the floor in the vocal booth! I swear on my mother it’s my only motivation to think their might be a God and he might only be a total dick most but not all the time! Mike Patton def put every last drop of energy on that ep cuz it seemed like a fucking crime scene of sweat and BO instead of blood but still with a bunch of bizarre shit he tried to use to make his voice sound different like the gas mask etc. I still have the analog tapes from my sessions there! Engineer was a great guy named Chris but I don’t know how much he worked on the Dep/Patton ep cuz they prob had their own ppl and just wanted the analog/digital hardware and software that this place had the best mix of at the time! If u didn’t wanna go full digital w ur analog gear and vocals u had to find a place that had tape machines still and then we dumped into protools. Guessing Patton and co used a similar process going by the sound of the record
I know it would be a violation of Chuck’s era of the band, but DAMN I would love to hear a full re-record of their first 2 albums with Mike and today’s lineup (Jim would be welcome if he wanted a break from the pumpkin farm)
