Hello ,and song ,,Real thing" is from 1989 ,or older ,?Album is from that year ,know that ,but this song particular is maybe recording years before ?Come on ,fans of FNM
ok buddy keidis wished he could sing like patton ima chills pepper fan from the 80's but the bands are completely different an anthony makes himself look like an ass fighting mike two different styles period
Could you imagine if Patton re-recorded the vocals for The Real Thing album, in 2009 style, like this?? Not to take ANYTHING away from the original!! But I can't stop watching this!
All day long I've jammed this song. I was saddened to hear that FNM cancelled upcoming tour dates d/t Mike Patton citing "mental health reasons." Yet, I was touched that the band released a thoughtful statement saying that they support their "brother" doing what's best for him.
This song brings me back to 1990. Just started driving. Staying up late and partying for my entire senior year. The sense of freedom and danger all intertwined together. While other were listening to hair band trash...my two best friends and I were listening to FNM/Metallica/Pantera. Getting old really does suck.
'The essence of the truth', a thought, an inspiration, a vision, an image, an awakening etc. The lyrics and the sound of the song implify many meanings to me. Greetings from Poland😘 it stimulates imagination!
This man has been blessed with a strong voice Mike Patton will forever be one of my favorite vocalists he along with the band really channel the Real Thing era in this performance and I love it. The Real Thing is my fav album and era from them
I’ve always loved the first few minutes of this song to build some tension, draws back just a bit, then hits hard, it’s hard to put into words. But these guys know how to write some great songs. Great in composition, lyrics and vocals that do it justice, so damn phenomenal.
Bleeding hells this gives me chills its so brilliant. The drums are awe inspiring, keyboards as always and i love his energy. Mike is never bad but here he is just more. I loved FNM before but this, another level.
It's not DJent because: 1. It doesn't change 20 times signatures in one minute like a bi-polar child throwing a tantrum. and 2. DJent was a piss take term made up by a Misha Mansoor of Periphery towards the band Meshuggah and coined way after The Real Thing was released.
Fucking amazing performance. It sounds like mikes voice is double tracked in some parts of the verse, he sounds that good. Billy and puffy’s chemistry is palpable.
Cant even describe, when traveling across country working id get so into this song it was truly unreal, I remember passing a cop in my company Duke energy truck with this as loud as it would go running about 90 on a 55 and I never saw him again...
I would go week at the knees if I ever met this man, unlikley but back in the day he was my hormonal teenage crush. He still has a lovely smile! his voice range is outta this world. This was 2009 wish I knew what he looks like now in 2022
I have seen every band that I have ever wanted to see. I was born in 1970. I have been to well over 300 live concerts in my life all over the world and Mike Patton is hands down the best singer I have ever heard in my life. Maynard James Keenan is a distant second but he can't hold a candle to Mike's range and depth of emotion. Mike Patton walks with the Gods.
Also he was really young when he recorded the real thing. Male vocalists don't really settle into their natural range til their mid/late 20's. He's been singing these songs like this since the Angel Dust tour.
@@rustyjames1727 Yes I found that interview. Matt Wallace says Patton was always able to sing we the fuller voice we know, but intentionally used nasal voice on The Real Thing.
My favorite FNM song, a true masterpiece.
The most epic of songs.
My favorite too. Then Zombie Eaters.
@@kendrickjahn1261 Zombie Eaters!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

One of the best choruses ever
Patton is the best frontman of the world!!!😎🎤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I couldn't agree more 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
he really is the greatest vocalist frontman musician of any band ever. period. he beats and owns them all on every level.
Guess it is coming my time then, clinical depression has got me though.(know)
Definitely..... and rhe best rock/metal singer ever.
He has such a great range. Imo, he's the best vocalist in rock, pound for pound 😉👍
The greatest song you have probably never heard!!!!! To the most underrated band/voice/song/album of all time!!!! Dont get any better than this!!!
agreed my brother. greatest band ever imo.
ok buddy keidis wished he could sing like patton ima chills pepper fan from the 80's but the bands are completely different an anthony makes himself look like an ass fighting mike two different styles period
Amen.
@@slmmdggI like RHCP, but I sing better than Keidis-and that aint sayin much.
no one thinks mike patton's voice is under-rated...the dude is considered one of the best singers - if not the best - of all time
Could you imagine if Patton re-recorded the vocals for The Real Thing album, in 2009 style, like this?? Not to take ANYTHING away from the original!! But I can't stop watching this!
It’s so fucking awesome 😭
I came across this a few days ago. I have been craving it when at work and can't listen to it 😂
i honestly cant stand the way he sings it here.... he cant sing like he used to so he makes up for it by screaming
Best music revlution i ever seen
And hear sorry😊
his voice is brutal af gives me shivers everytime
Mike Bordin is hands down the most entertaining drummer to watch....EVER!
Tommy Aldridge
FNM is the only band that can play way better+brutal at 50 than 20. First time I saw them live was 89 but their 09 comeback was mindblowing.
In my youth I loved Chili peppers. I’m older and wiser now. Best frontman, band..... 👋👋👋👋
Mike Patton is way better than Anthony Kiedis ever will be he is a complete twat compared to Mike
I still dig the Chilli Peppers, but FNM are simply on another level.
Good bands, both FNM and Red Hot, but Van Halen and Iron Maiden destroy them.
I was here, absolutely blew my mind as to just how phenomenal Patton's voice is.
What a masterpiece..
All day long I've jammed this song. I was saddened to hear that FNM cancelled upcoming tour dates d/t Mike Patton citing "mental health reasons." Yet, I was touched that the band released a thoughtful statement saying that they support their "brother" doing what's best for him.
This one of the best live performances of The Real Thing ever. Maybe the best.
Absolutely. Completely renewed my love for this song.
For me, this performance ties with the one from 1991 at Festival de Viña del Mar, truly the best performances of the song.
Vina del mar 91 is the best version of the real thing
@@andso0123 Although I see both performances as superb, I enjoy the one from 1991 a little bit more. :)
Patton screwing up the lyrics at the end oddly makes it even more mind blowing. What a poignant, beautiful song 😭
I wish i had friends who love this band as much as i do.
You need better friends, well friends with better taste in music.

what an epic comeback
i was there, i hope you got to see it too.
Watching this live changed my life, thank you FNM

Wooow this is brutal
In a good way... right?
@@auntjemima8873 yep
Aunt Jemima Hey sugar.
Can't believe it was at 10 years ago! Hope they start another tour this year!
I'm kind of hoping for a new album to
Suppose to be letting Korn follow them on stage, but the virus has everything on hold.

Mike is just making magic in this stage, one of the best age vocal of him. FUCKIN AWESOME
The first time I saw Faith Nore was in 1993 as a 15 year old megafan! One of the best memories of my youth.
me at Rock in RIo in '91, that show changed my life
1990 Birmingham Hummingbird UK.
tHIS song gives me shivers every damn time
I lost my younger brother to a sudden illness. He passed away Sunday March 24th 2024. Thank you FNM, this song means so much to me.
Masterpiece. What else can you even say. Rock music perfection
I know the feeling.
@@GEAGO the essence of the troooooooof
It is the real thing
6:36 breakdown of vocals, bass, drums and the melodic guitar chords is beyond masterpiece that’s tied into such an intense song.
The brilliance of dying and coming back to life? Seriously. What a piece of art this band is.

This song literally takes me somewhere else. Maybe in my mind, maybe literally, I don't know.
Vocal at its best. Entire song a masterpiece
Esses caras são únicos não existe nada igual Faith no more simplesmente perfeito.
Absolute BEAST performance of one of FNM’s best songs.
this song was soooo ahead of its time when it came out..hell it still is
The response of the crowd to the band at 34 seconds is so badass.
Such an underrated masterpiece!!
30+ years later and I still get goosebumps. My favorite Patton song from my favorite Patton album. Forever untouchable
Mike my brother please be safe and be OK you are loved by us all
They are so fucking great!!!

One of the best live
brutal vocals.Amazing.
How is this not djent?! Meshugga gets all the credit but Big Jim was doing syncopated rhythm with a metal influence back in '89. Hell yeah.
all metal post 1998 is directly FNM influenced......
It's not DJent because:
1. It doesn't change 20 times signatures in one minute like a bi-polar child throwing a tantrum.
and
2. DJent was a piss take term made up by a Misha Mansoor of Periphery towards the band Meshuggah and coined way after The Real Thing was released.

Mike Patton is one of the most talent singer and frontman of the rock scene.
Damn I love Faith No More
.. i wanna see them now... I still got my ticket stuck to my fridge from 2020's tour that got cancelled
Wish that was on my fridge!!
Same :(
Still so gooooood
Different lyrics meaning as you getting older. Rare.
I was 18. Magic music.

So damn awesome

Besides the talent on show!! I'm in awe of the size of the crowds😧🤗🤘❤️
Fnm at its best!! Awesome performance!
I fucking love this!!!! One of the most important vocalists that I used to learn to sing. My style reeks of it! Yes!
Yes that is one of the most iconics FNM songs.9

I saw Patton (Tomahawk) open for Tool in 2002. Incroyable.
When I saw them open up for Metallica & Guns 'N' Roses 32 years ago that bass drum shook the Hoosier Dome.
Esto es lo MÁXIMO❤
My favorite material Mike has ever been part of is definitely MR BUNGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maravilloso ❤️
I miss the short trs and long hair but god damn it he is still killing it and he's still hot.
Amazing 😊
Still rocking huge toms years later!!
2:11 Classic.
Caracas esse som e muito louco
Amazing performance
FUCK this song is absolutely incredible. God dammit!
Such a class band...
I would love to see Maynard and Patton do an album together. Have Tom Morello on guitar, Danny Carry on drums, and Les Claypool on Bass.
I was supposed to be seeing them tonight 😪
This is also I think there best concert I've seen.
Some song great performance
So many shows I've been to but so many I'm seeing. Goodness abb wa siiiick in 04 but seeing a true talented front man would be great!

Sure miss Jim Martin.
I am agree with you, this line up is not complete if it is not present Jim Martin
His voice is so much lower than the album. He went through a second puberty
Being in your 50's tends to do that
Also he was really young when he recorded the real thing. Male vocalists don't really settle into their natural range til their mid/late 20's. He's been singing these songs like this since the Angel Dust tour.
@@neilpatrickhairless Actually his vocals became like this between 1990 and 1992.
It was intentional.
