Autoimmune disease is, by far, the most widespread chronic health condition today, with a prevalence greater than heart disease, cancer, and diabetes combined. It is staggering! Sadly, however, conventional medicine is making numerous mistakes when it comes to treating patients with autoimmune disease by attempting to manage symptoms rather than resolve the root cause and heal the body.
In this episode of my Masterclass series, I am interviewed by my good friend and podcast host, Dhru Purohit, about what’s really behind the rates of climbing autoimmune disease. We discuss environmental and dietary changes, reduction in quality of food, and much more-and then what we can do to heal.
Dhru Purohit is a podcast host, serial entrepreneur, and investor in the health and wellness industry. His podcast, The Dhru Purohit Podcast, is a top 50 global health podcast with over 30 million unique downloads. His interviews focus on the inner workings of the brain and the body and feature the brightest minds in wellness, medicine, and mindset.

My uncle was diagnosed with RA as a young adult. He was supposed to be in a wheelchair by age 40. His family began growing most of their own food and went completely organic. He is in his 70s now and still goes country line dancing and works his homestead. No RA.

I can't afford food and I have been in chronic pain for 6 months. The cost of living I can't have my grass fed, organic food. I am miserable as the big pharma put me on Prednisolone. Bad side effects I've only been on them two weeks but forced to a corner I couldn't walk or get out of bed.
The doctor said hopefully we can wean you off them in Three weeks. But there must be some minerals vitamins that can do the trick on Polymyalgia Rheumatica. For me ?
The side effects cataracts, excess weight, hair loss, thin skin, buffalo nape, moon face, fungoidal toe nails,
Leukemia, cancers, 3 stone gain, etc that's just for starters.
I need advice would Magnesium Bisglyconate help or Glycinate, or Citrate? With pumpkin seeds for Zinc
I have to come off these prescription symptoms killers

Work-related stress, only 4-5 hours sleep at night for 3 years, caused me Graves desies. Thanks God I'm in remission fast after therapy, because my food is good, I also use herbals (not only medicaments) and put in control of sleeping and stress. Stress is a huge factor for bad desies at all. I understood that It's so important stomach, blood, heart and liver to be in a good condition for those autoimmune desies. We must do prevention and support many organs and systems in our body. May be this is sound difficult, but it's a lesson in our lives that we must to learn.

I was diagnosed with Still's Disease summer 2023. I have recently removed my breast implants and capsules (truly believe it was a factor). I am off my medication and eating an autoimmune diet. I feel amazing. Bloodwork came back normal . I had my Rheumatologist phone appointment and he was upset that I am off my meds...... recommended I get back on them asap. I am done with methotrexate and know I can control my autoimmune disease . Thank you for sharing all this information and teaching people to take control by eating properly and dealing with gut health.

@@sebastianliwinski222 Dear friend, if I'm not mistaken, this is a problem in the functioning of hormones? See, try to find natural supplements that will help you. Monitor your body when you eat and drink certain things, how the body will react. Try different things, look for a solution, pray to God if you are religious. Read, research about your disease, ask questions to other people who are struggling with this disease, and you will eventually find a solution for yourself. It's all in you never give up. I can tell you that I couldn't write to you today, I would probably be dead if I agreed with the doctor's opinion, which in 2018 gave me a maximum of 5 years to live. Because it was a progressive lung disease with no existing cure. I can tell you that I was the only patient with such a disease in the entire country of Slovenia in Europe. It was still a lot of pressure that no one could help me. So that if I managed to heal and live on, so can you and everyone, you just have to wish. It was very, very difficult, but I succeeded. Frozen blueberries

      A scoop of Truvani protein
      A scoop of collagen peptides
      handful of spinach
      Walnuts and flax seeds

Handful of One degree oats (best oats on the market)
      An egg
A scoop of truvani protein powder
      A scoop of collagen peptides
      1/4 tsp baking powder
      cinnamon
Half a banana (can use frozen, thaw in microwave first)
blend really good in blender (I have a vitamix)
Then add blueberries and cook like pancakes. It’s delicious! You don’t need syrup because the banana adds the perfect amount of sweetness
For lunch it’s homemade veggie soup or a huge salad with tons of veggies
For dinner it’s a Buddha bowl or some sort.
I’m mostly plant-based. No dairy and no gluten and I don’t eat meat but I do eat fish like salmon when I can.
All of my cardiac markers for heart disease have also decreased exponentially since adopting this way of eating 🥰
*I also don’t snack. My meals keep me full for so long so I don’t need anything extra. Aim for 10,000 steps a day as well.

I was diagnosed with epstein barr last year. This was post covid pneumonia that took me 2 months to recover from. I have read that EBV attacks the t & b cells. After trying things on my own and failing, I'm finally starting the AIP diet. It's only been 4 days in and I already feel a bit better. Less brain fog, less joint pain and my face looks less puffy. I'm excited to heal my body and get back to feeling like myself!

I have autoimmune, and I have had food sensitivity /intolerance test done. I'm excluding the items were on the naughty list. Also i'm looking into AIP. But do I need to exclude everything that I supposed to in the elimination phase or am I OK only exclude the ones I know I'm sensitive of? I have read many reactions / reviews on AIP and people who had a few intolerances went on AIP, ended up having loads of intolerances. I'm a bit confused.

The doctor agreed and even asked us symptoms seem to worsen and he has these " flare-ups" when he eats foods high in purine and we rattled off a whole list that he's had to cut out. So the doctor agreed with this fact. Yet when he wanted to run some tests and testing for inflammation as well as rheumatoid arthritis, He told me there was no correlation between diet and lifestyle with either of these...oh really?? 🤦🏼

MCTD and Lupus are quite similar. So whatever is good for Lupus is also good for MCTD. And to be honest, the cure for MCTD, LUPUS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Hashimoto, etc are all the same. Anti-Inflammatory diet or AIP, dealing with mold or metals in the body if that is the cause, moving your body as much as you can, but not overdoing it - causes inflammation!; And eliminating stress!!! from your life and learning to appreciate what you have. You can eat healthy, be active, but if you don't eliminate stress, there won't be no healing, as there is such thing as gut-brain axis. Your brain affects your gut and microbiome, and vice versa!. All the best wishes and stay strong while healing yourself!

There are a lot of things you can do for free/at low cost if you can't start an expensive treatment. Here are some ideas that I've been using or are looking to start. I hope it can help someone.
      1. Remove toxins from your environment, all artificial cleaners, switch to Eco/bio/organic. Use organic cosmetics (at least try to whenever you can). Check if there is mold in your home and remove it. Some furniture and bed mattresses are toxic 2. Remove toxins from your food, eat organic if you can. Don't use teflon pans. Don't use plastic bottles because they contain BPA, also all food that is wrapped in plastic should be avoided for the same reason ( I Heard of someone who get rid of their disorder only by removing all BPA from their food) Try to buy food on a local farmers market or maybe directly from a farmer? 3. Diet - there are many completely oposite diets that seem to be working for people with autoimmune disorders and they have one thing in common: giving up eating processed foods, sugar, gluten, alcohol, sometimes diary and eating healthy foods, homemade meals. 4. Water - take a look on how much water you drink a day and how you drink it - do you mix it with food? Check the Japanese Water Diet - it determines how much water to drink per day and when ( never mix water with food). In my case it has greatly reduced my brain fog and raised my energy levels 5. Stress - Try to create an everyday mindfulness routine for yourself to calm down your nervous system: breathing exercisess ( Wim Hoff, 4-7-8 method, breathing for limphatic system etc), EFT also called tapping, yoga, meditations.
      6. Suplements- according to Dr. Berg there is one witamin that helps tremendously for autoimmune diseases- Wit. D.
Most of those things are free or not very expensive, you can introduce a couple of them, and I think they are a good point to start.

Some say it shouldn’t affect digestion because water is a byproduct of bile, others say you dilute your stomach acid! Some people eat lots of soups made of animal meats and it is very healing regardless of it being 70% water ! I guess every one is different!

It all sounds wonderful, but if insurance covers my drug so that instead of $50k/year I pay only $3k/year, that is affordable, and it's well-established medicine, even if it isn't perfect. But if I have to pay out of pocket (because functional medicine isn't covered by insurance) $20k or $30k, and it *might* work or it might not, that's harder to budget for. But if money was no object, I'd try it in a heartbeat.

correction, there is a list of food to eat & not eat. It's known as the blood type food chart. Eating for your blood type is extremely effective. Now, this chart is merely a guide. One must test all the foods, over the course of a year to truly know. The most effective way is, to get your fill of each food the guide chart show is beneficial. That means breakfast, lunch, dinner. Sleep it off, pay attention to how you feel waking up the day. If you feel like you can pick up & throw a building, it's beneficial. If you don't, it's toxic & inflammatory. We must respect our body's divine design.
There's also a list that tells you what oils, acids, spices, herbs, roots, extracts, & fugus. Are your body's true medicine, through your blood type. It's highly effective, & long lasting. Big pharma suppresses this info & discredits it. Because, they lose a lot of money. "nothing personal, just business"...

What test do I need to undergo to know what really triggers my Lupus?

  • @carolinescott7062
    @carolinescott7062 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I'm in the UK and was diagnosed with lupus and APS 20 years ago. I see my rheumatologist every 6-8 months and he always runs antibody tests to check where I am at. Sometimes it shows I am technically in "remission" even though I still have symptoms (very common in lupus) and my antibodies are also checked for associated AI illness ie Hashimoto's, Mixed Connective Tissues, Graves. . I also have bloods done every 4 weeks to monitor my general health and inflammation as I take powerful immune suppressants and I have DXA scans, MRI, CT scans etc when required. I've been tested for coeliac and other intolerances so perhaps UK doctors are just more thorough than those in America? I do use diet and supplements to aid my symptoms but I take multiple medications to control the actual lupus and I will continue to do that as they saved my life. Luckily I don't have to pay for my medical care. Every single person with AI illness is different and it is irresponsible to say that anything can "cure" AI illness as there are many studies showing genetic links to AI.

Ive always eaten good food though I've slipped up with the bad stuff that tastes good here and there. However, I'm suffering from chronic pain and other issues that look like autoimmune symptoms. Would my dental amalgams be the cause and how can I get tested for heavy metals in the system as a result of these?

Wow this is spot on.. I had my first child birth as vaginal, and breast fed about 2 weeks,, he's 19 now and eats horrible but thank God is healthy. Now my daughter was a C-section and only breast feed for about 2 days and she eats so good yet at the age of 7 she got colitis. If we only knew of these things. If only doctors would actually learn this information and pass it to parents while the pregnancy. :( .. Or maybe they do know and refuse to inform us because it all comes down to medicine and money in this country!!!

I've been healthy for the majority of my life. In 2020 got the COVID shot, and the second booster shot. I got my first COVID the ending of Sept 2021. I got really sick, got all the symthoms, headache, chills, bidy aches, lost my taste buds, sence of smell and got the IV fusion they where giving to COVID patients. Two weeks after that I developed severe headaches, it was so bad they said i had Hemi Cranial Thunder Clap Headache. I never had a migraine in my life. This was all new to me. And I had a lingering wheezing after that first COVID. Got a 3rd booster was alright until after my Mom passed away on June 21, 2022. I got panic & anxiety attacks. I felt like I was being choked with the grieving and just pain. I also developed shortness of breath. I came stated to go to the ER starting in July 13th, 2022 got admitted in August, Sept, & October for like 6 days each time. The doctors kept saying I have pneumonia. But they didn't know what was wrong with me, and they just said go see a rheumatologist. In Nov 2022, I went and the Dr. diagnosed me with Myositis - Antisynthetase Syndrome causing me to have and be diagnosed Interstitial Lung Disease. And will eventually turn into Rheumatoid Arthritis. But before they put me on these meds i had to get a series if shots also including another COVID (4th one) shot, shingles, pneumonia, Hep B, Flu. So then they put me on Mychophenolate, on Prednisone, Oxygen 2Lt, Bactrim, Vit D, Vit B12 and of course i started to see a therapist for my grieving state of mind and for getting sick. Tried two different meds got an allergic reaction to the. So I decided not to take anything for my depression and was just on the autoimmune meds all through 2023. But in Sept, I caught Covid again. Did the 5 day antibiotics. And I didnt have the severe symptoms like I did the first time. But I became very sick that I got hospitalized Oct 2023 for 9 days because during my hospitalization I had a TIA Mini Stroke. I was in shock to have had a stroke. I was still on my autoimmune meds too. In Jan 2024 decided to give anti depressant another try. I was put on Zoloft and Clonazepam. That's helping with my anxiety and depression. In May 2024 had issues with my insurance and had a laps for 2 months without any medications or treatments. I couldn't afford to see my any of my doctors. I started to relaps, short of breath just doing basic ADLS, headaches, body and muscles aches. I got new INS and started treatment on July 6th, 2024. But I haven't been well since. 5 ER visits since July, two Hospitalizations one in Sept for 7 days and one in Oct for 5 days. The previous ER visit before my last admitted which was 10 days later, they had said I was expecting Myalgia from the Myositis. Gave me pain meds sent me home. Was back 10 days later where i was admitted and Rheumatologist took me off Mychophenolate because they think it was causing me side effects. They changed my med to Myfortic. Was raking that for one week and I stopped it because I started to get sores on my tongue. On top of my ongoing symptoms of Severe Headaches, stiff neck, pain my my throat, body chills, hot body but no fever.
I want to know what can be done? Is all this curable naturally? I don't think they are doing the right test in me. And now I just feel like a test study with the different meds I'm on. Naproxen, Oxy, Tramadol, Extra Strength Tylenol, Prednisone 15mg, Vit D - Vit B12. Asprin, Rosuvastantin, Zokoft 50mg, Clonazepam and Ambien. I'm only 45 yrs old and been dealing with this since 2022. 😢😞 Last night was a painful night. I need help!?!

Where would one go to seek ozone treatment? I have a chronic lung infection and I begrudgingly agreed to be put on long-term megadoses of 2 antibiotics. My body is SCREAMING, "NO!"--no appetite, nauseated, intestinal issues, absolutely no energy--which is now resulting in depression. So I've decided I'm done with them (the antibiotics), but I would love to find a viable alternative. Even if this decision shortens my life, it beats being robbed of any quality of life.

I often wonder about non-confronted emotional pain, shame, and trauma and how it plays a role in causing autoimmune problems? Huberman’s latest video on “The Writing Protocol” and its profound impact on easing stress, anxiety and and lessening autoimmune issues would suggest a connection. Unresolved emotional pain really does seem to impact the immune system. Sarno’s mind body psychosomatic concepts come to mind as well as Tom Laughlin’s work with cancer patients having them pursue unfulfilled goals and dreams instead of their “pay the bills” job. I saw huge changes, not a cure, but quality of life changes, when I addressed the possible psychological aspects of autoimmune disease in myself. Applying Sarno to the root causes of my autoimmune disorder helped.

Did you get the boosters too? There really bad news boosters smh , glad that your doing somewhat better , I had COVID not that long ago was soooo ill , and let me tell you I'm still tryin to get better , I had the vax two a good while back before they started changing more of the vax to worse , that was the most awful experience in my life of ever being that sick ill , it almost paralyzed my body could not walk hurt so bad all bones muscles nerves and every where I could barely make it to the bathroom while holding onto the walls , it was worse than the two vax combined together, my periods are wack I'm in menopause before the age of 40 smh those are facts of periods getting messed up and entering into menapause early too , Dr.john Campbell on utue and others as well, i have still tryin to get better a lot of brain fog and symptoms from that covid it's been hell to get better from being that sick , i will not ever be getting any more COVID vaccine especially if i lose my job , it's not worth it this stuff is poison in the body as it tries to change your dna and have your immune sytem rely on every vax so you dont have immuntity left, it effects evertone differnetly andvl you can catch covid more than once too

You had ulcerative colitis for 5mo and cured it in that time?!? I just got it 4 mo ago after being hospitalized for 10days w it and had to go to a skilled nursing after bc I was so skinny/lost all muscle and had post concussion and vestibaukr damage from old motorcycle accident so makes it hard to rebuild my mobility and strength (and I had been very strong mobile before but had to live very very mindfully w those injuries). I’m down to one pill a day but I have to monitor my diet to a high degree. I had a little bit of pizza two days in a row and my bms changed a lot but it’s not awful… but shows me even w one med I can’t eat difficult foods. I know pizza isn’t a health food but I’d like to be able to eat pizza every once in awhile as I’m eating so well everyday - but I can do better for sure. Drs scare us w UC. And mine was bad so I don’t want to get off meds totally and then have a worse flare later or other aspects of the disease manifest.. as Dr tells me. But I’m ready to get off the meds and heal my stomach and colon. My skin has been affected I think as well - little bit of maybe vitiligo and my eyes are a little burning some nights.

Hi Mark pls can you help my case ..
this is some of the story as Its difficult to type this .. hands are so sore atm..
It’s started with not allowing myself to go to bed. I’ve been a night shift worker for yrs but not working atm. Mental health issues have stopped me leaving my home ..Then foggy head forgetting everything Inc how to articulate my self. Brain won’t shut up. Im too nervous to explain myself in person. A lot of baggage after a hell 5 years . Family abuse , mother died of rare cancer .. I was her carer. Long story already.. won’t go into that part.
I live alone , friends are al married family etc. due to my life turning upside down.. I lost all my mates .. “ geez drama & shitful stuff follows u lately see ya “😢basically.
So I moved to a small town with my dog and the hope of a new life of great health .
Instead I woke up & my hands were locked in a fist shape. I couldn’t use them.
I freaked out .no one knew me so how could I get help.
    Here’s where it’s at
My TSH is 5.88 . It goes up and down. Never been settled . Now I’m displaying numbness in hands and feet sensitivity, thicker hair , skin is dry and splitting. Face skin Is acne now. (Ive always had great skin..) psoriasis has flared up , noticed after shower today when hands would not work , hot water all over my body helps .
    Im taking B1,3 & 12 each alone .
vitamin D magnesium and zinc vit C currently thinking these will help. Along with another list of drug medications for MH etc. hormones as I had a partial hysto 2017.
I’ve never felt so shitty and uncomfortable like I do tonight /atm. My doctor say Nar you all good . Lab work states autoimmune disorder is present. I asked doctor what’s this mean? He said oh it’s nothing just a standard precaution.
    That was it..
    I looked it up.
I went to see him coz my knuckles flared up like I’m 80 . Stiff soreness pins and needles , they vibrate like I’ve been working on a jackhammer . Every morning I’m in a bucket of hot water to get blood flowing & first thing when I wake up my feet hurt to walk on , fluid in ankles comes and goes , veins are starting to pop out like an old man!
I was fit healthy & mentally screwed 2 years ago..I coped as best as possible
Dealing with mums life then her death then the drama & betrayal of my family. I’m surprised I’m still alive. I didn’t want to be..I tried to go with mum but my dog keeps me here each day.
. When I sit down that feeling comes in super fast .. like a kinked hose . Blood stops.. numbness , locked fingers , ice cold again…yes I have back neck looked at. I see a Ciro twice a week. Only time I have human contact. Not the way I was b4 .100% flip of life . Just turned 50 also!!
I want to find answers to what’s wrong with me. Sleeping is not happening my body won’t let me go there! Body and self aren’t working together: typing this is so painful. No blood flow at all.I’m watching hands go from warm to cold red to white.. dry cracked hands like paper cuts on tip of finger’s.
Then there’s eating issues. Feel sick after eating. Not a sweet tooth but lately it’s been the case.
*➡️( I’ve gone thru the5 most difficult & Challenging things 2 go thru in ur 😢life in last 2 yrs. )
Still my doctor won’t help with more tests or send me to someone else who can help. He’s not a nice person.
He knows what I’ve been thru but doesn’t validate me at all. It’s in my head.
I’m so scared he’s helping me to get worse and then it will take my life like cancer took Mums.. note he was her doctor also. Limited doctors where I am atm. He’s meant to be intergrative doctor.
I take Hormones and thyroid meds , they’re all compounding meds. Not Thyroxine-my body rejected that drug fast. Never
    Again.
If I ask for further tests he asks why give me a name to send these to if so. I’ve told him I’d pay 4 the tests pls just get me well. Nope.
    Now I’m scared to
See him coz I’m nervous & it triggers C-PTSD issues and social anxiety disorder with depression. My appointment is Wednesday and I’m already in a state of what to do ..😢I cry and scream at same time coz I just want to be better and it’s so frustrating to not be able to stand up 4 myself . He dismisses or repeats what I say in wrong context. Head twisting my ADHD thinking..
I want to heal this forever if only I could find a way to do so..?
    Exhausted and really messed up.
I’m at the end of this battle today..my butt is sore from constipation . Not the norm for me. Even after taking whatever’s possible to soften the natural way.. I try to stay on natural ways first.
    Diet isn’t the best atm.
Please what do I need to do to get your help.
I heard the people you have helped.. please tell me what when and where & I will do my very best to communicate less.
    I’m all out of ideas.
There’s no point in taking anything till I know what’s the main director inside of my body that’s killing me slowly & painfully. I thought I’d die of a broken heart .. not from inflammation on high.
    nireeburr@gmail.com
I feel so embarrassed typing all of this , to not hear back.. pls can you help me.
