Gigapower slag was my first third party figure and since then I managed to track down the rest. The quality and presence of the set is just amazing. Yup, there's nothing quite like them. Slag was my first one as well. Swoop is the last one I need to get. I can't wait to see them all together in person.
Great review. I love Fanstoys. Easily the best 3rd party manufacturer. Having said that, the GP Dinobots are so much better. The sheer size of them is what you want for Dinobots. My Swoop dwarfs my MP44 Prime & so it should.
Great comparison review. Fair and well reasoned scoring on the areas. Gigapower clearly learning from Fanstoy’s early work and making enhancements. Would be interesting to see a modern day Fanstoys take on Swoop. The Gigapower Swoop R version is too shiny for me (Same with the R Slag). I think those two look better in the metallic variants. But their Sludge is better as the R version!! I guess you like what like and it’s nice to have options. Roll on the X weathered version!
I had the FT Swoop, both versions, I sold them both, then I was about to get the Gigapower Swoop, but then I was offered the FT blue Swoop at a great deal, almost brand new, and I ended up buying it, mainly because I had the reissue FT Grimlock and reissue FT Snarl.
If I could afford and had space for a second set I would love to have a set of the Gigapower, but the FTs just fits better in my collection. These figures do make me reminiscent of the time when we still had choices. Thanks for the comparison video. I always value your opinion.
For me personally, Gigapower is the better choice. Cheaper (upon initial release), bigger, more sturdy in terms of overall construction, more detailed, and easier to transform (for their other Dinobots in the line; Swoop is relatively easy to transform as he is designed). Having typed those IRREFUTABLE facts, a collector wins with either choice! It legit doesn't matter which one you choose, BOTH are really freaking amazing!!!! We are literally SPOILED as collectors nowadays. FRFR!

I’m glad you recently added this video. I’m going in on these. For my Movie bots shelf. They will be in Dino mode. The Fanstoys will stay with the G1 crew in bot mode.

Just rewatching this as Fanstoys is re-releasing Soar, and Gigapower still takes it. Also the fact that Gigapower is still cheaper makes it the choice for me ($220 currently vs $195, both prices from Show Z). Once again, great comparison.

I don't really get comparing the original release prices in these comparison videos of older figures; we'll never ever see an original retail price FT Swoop ever again, like ever. And that goes for every figure in all of these comparisons but especially the Fans Toys ones and especially this much later after the original release. I guess I understand it from a "wow can you believe these things were semi-affordable once" standpoint but to people getting in now or the future, the 2021 secondary market price for Swoop of 800 USD vs the steady 300-ish Gaudenter price is just not even comparable. I'm sure I've heard you touch on it somewhere but I'd love to hear your in-depth thoughts behind comparing the original release prices in these 2021 videos where some of the prices are so hugely and ridiculously different than they were when released a few years ago.
The primary reason I don't use aftermarket prices is because they fluctuate too wildly and I can't use it as a basis, retail price never changes so that's what I use
This is similar to the Seapreay VS video, as in the non Fanstoys figure lost and i agree that it should lose, but I still would prefer to have the Fanstoy figure in my collection.
Love your content and these verses. A few points I'd like to me make. The accessories thing where you count the sword adaptor the same as a wing, as to have a piece left over. My favorite is where you're shaking the hell out of one figure to get the leg to drop, the next figure you actually hold the leg up. I like and own both figures, so I'm good. You might have picked the better figure. But your bias couldn't be more apparent. You gotta stop listening to that FT hater Tman so much. Haha. Thanks for the content, duder.

I love your comparison videos, but something just occurred to me: your aim seems to be to attempt objectivity, while recognizing that subjectivity is inevitable; however, you have a point specifically for CARTOON accuracy. Might I suggest you consider making a slight change to that point category so that it is CHARACTER accuracy instead? Currently, you could compare a figure that gets reissued with a slightly different paint scheme that perhaps uses toy colours instead of cartoon colours, and presumably (all other factors remaining the same) the toy coloured figure would lose by 1 point. If you use character accuracy instead, you can give a point to a figure that nails whatever version of the character it is intended to represent, be it cartoon (TV or movie, e.g., Prime's head sculpt), comic, toy, etc..

I greatly prefer having the details on the toys that were molded in or illustrated on stickers, and tend to find "toon accurate" designs to look bland and unfinished. I do, however, recognize that I'm in the minority and the current market is heavily biased towards "toon accuracy or GTFO".

pteranadon mode - there's a heel you can fold out to support it better, also there's a tail as well.

This isn't just a better Swoop than Fan Toys, this IMO is one of the most underrated Figures in all of MP style figures.
I think you should change “sculpt” to sculpted details, cuz just cuz with more details doesn’t mean it sculpted in a better way.
