Actually, Mammillaria mystax and Mamm. karwinskiana looks the same without flowers. If you get pink flowers, it is mystax. But if you get white to yellow, then maybe karwinskiana. My cactus labeled mystax turned out to be a karwinskiana when it flowered. 😄

ive bought few more to add to my collection Haworthia Limifolia Variegata / Kalanchoe Fedtschenkoi Variegata / Faucaria tigrina / Turbinicarpus alonsoi /Euphorbia abdelkuri /Astrophytum myriostigma fukuryu / Astrophytum onzuka / Leuchtenbergia principis / Agave Potatorum "Kichiokan" . And the same thing happened to echinopsis subdenudata last year now it has this dry brown stuff on it
Wow you’ve got some real nice ones there, Barry 👍🏻 Yeah I don’t know what that was that happened with my Echinopsis after repotting, luckily the liquid that oozed out didn’t cause too much noticeable damage, the whole plant turned a very sickly pale colour as well. The unknown mammillaria next to the lobivia I believe is Mammillaria mystax. I have a large one of these which is very showie during the spring bloom nice thick ring of magenta flowers! From Morris park in the Ozarks have a great day!!!

Hi Molly. Thank you for your awesome comments. My absolute favourite genus is Copiapoa. If I had to choose an outright favourite plant it would have to be Astrophytum asterias. First time watching heard of you from Lyn Kimberly. Really nice collection, they all look great. Something I never asked but always wondered, how does a person know when it's time to water when they have a top dressing. I don't have a top dressing on mine for that reason, but I'd like to.
Thank you 😊 It really depends on what type of material you use for top dressing. I use lava rock for top dressing on most and when it’s completely dry it’s a grey colour, when it’s wet it turns an almost black colour. Caroline Muller, thank you 😊 I don’t water any of my cactus over the winter period, from October until March they stay dry. They’ve all just had their first watering of the year this week although some of my succulents like Haworthia and Aloes I will water all year round.
