Rick Foster plays Guy Van Duser's arrangement of The Stars and Stripes Forever. This arrangement is available in notation and TAB at www.rickfosterguitar.com.
Rick Foster was a tremendous blessing and close friend of my brother Marshall Bennett Ian Rick talked often corresponded even before there were texts and emails is music has been a great inspiration to me his musicality and his technical abilities he was also admired by the great student and protege of Andres Segovia Christopher parking in whom I've had the pleasure of meeting and seeing in concert several times Chris and my brother Marshall also remained in touch with each other I was glad to be a recipient of two huge musical talents that the classical Spanish Guitar World I Richie Flamenco Bennett thank you Rick Foster I know you're resting in peace because you exemplified peace through your music thank you very much to you and your family
I have LPs from you and what an HONOR it is to finally see a video of this performance. Your tonal delivery in making the guitar sound like it goes from a tiny instrument to a full blown orchestra is amazing. Thank you for your inspiration. Please post more videos so that we can not only enjoy your music with our ears, but so that we can be astonished with our eyes. Thanks again.
Absolutely superb! I read that Van Duser actually simplified the arrangement after people commenting that it sounded like much more than one guitar. Can't imagine...LOL! Rick, I believe we teach and influence best by example. Wonderful to see you still teaching and...example-ing! And your arrangement of "Jesu" is the definitive and my all time favorite!
Yes, there is TAB for "I've Got Peace Like a River." It comes with the More Hymns for Classic Guitar book. You can order the book from the Rick Foster web site.
@@drgeorgejohnson Yes, It is in both the "Best of Rick Foster Close to Heaven" and the "2 albums in 1 Inspirational Guitar at Its Best/Sacred Classic Guitar" books.
Very well done. I have a Guy van Duser vinyl around here somewhere, a gift from my parents in the mid-70's (when I was playing guitar). I stopped playing shortly thereafter, idling that hobby for over 20 years. My youngest son got interested in playing, and has rekindled my interest. That piece, Stars and Stripes, is out of my league for now, but it's something to aspire to. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Hi Rick, I was picking out the notes of this tune and mentioned to my wife about this guitarist who played this tune and it was wicked. We just found it and it's still wicked. Thank you for your gift of arrangements and playing the guitar.
Once again I am tempted to use my guitar for firewood after seeing this amazing guitarist. God has truly blessed Rick Foster. I hope young aspiring guitarists watching this will aspire to this level of excellence. He looks like he is really enjoying himself too. So that is a big plus indeed.
Amen, but keep trying my friend! God doesn't want you to give you, he wants you to experience the greatest hobby ever for fun, because that's really what music is, it's suppised to be fun, like this piece!
Thank you! TABs are available on my web site in two different books of arrangements. Look for The Stars and Stripes Forever in the Best of Rick Foster-Close to Heaven book and the 2-in-1 book. www.rickfosterguitar.com
Beg your pardon 'acoustic2rock' Rick makes no audible errors. Do you play guitar at all? I would not go around comparing renditions by different players even if I did NOT play guitar. Peace.
Actually this is G Van Duser's arrangement. Played better than Chet ever did it (no value judgement on Chet!)...I've been playin this for years, but never could get it so smooth and right sounding..kudos!
You are kidding right? Page couldn't pull this off with a year of practice. Not because he isn't good but he doesn't play fingerstyle well enough to even begin something like this arrangement.
Every July 4th my family listens to this video. It is now one of our traditions. Thank you.
I listen to eat every month for I am a Classical Guitarist, it's a very advanced technical piece.
2024 too.

Good question! It starts in the key of E and ends in the key of A. Standard tuning.

The incomparable Rick Foster and his masterpiece:)
Wow, great performance and production. Classical guitar, an American instrument!
Thank you, Didier - the TAB is available on the Rick Foster Guitar web site!
Is the notation still available on the website? Looked yesterday but couldn't find it...

Published by Mel Bay..I believe the book is called Guy VanDuser "Stride Guitar".
This brings back memories!
Outstanding playing and arranging. Never heard anything better.
how can anyone not like this
This man is truly a gifted arranger and guitarist.
I saw Guy Van Duser do this at Penn' Landing on the Phila waterfront back in the 80s.
Wow. Yes, the sound of an entire marching band on one guitar!

Brilliant stuff! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very nicely done!
Oh my goodness, that's awesome!

i hope to play this some day. i am going to drop my strings to e flat so that i can play along with the marching band version! ;)
Beautiful! I'm sure it's harder than it looks...and it looks pretty hard!
Kathy McCracken It is harder than it looks. I recently got the TABs for it ans so far I'm only able the intro fairly well.
How majestic is the Lord! Sir can you post power tabs for you musical piece? specially I've got peace like a river? God bless!
a true Guitar hero!
I told my mom this made me want to quit playing guitar again. Then American kicks in again! 🤘 USA USA USA 🇺🇸
is the sound of an entire marching band possible on one guitar? Indeed it is...
YES!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Is there any tabs out there for this. I love this version nicely done 👍
I'm french !! Really fantactic playing !! Waouh !! Can you send me the tab ??
Thanks for posting !!
Didier.
Very Good I thought Chet Was The Only One Who Could Play This So Well
The closest to Van Duser that I have ever heard. It takes some serious chops to play it that clean. Bravo, One missed note but that's OK.
outstanding where can get the tabs.please
Thank you! TABs are available on my web site in two different books of arrangements. Look for The Stars and Stripes Forever in the Best of Rick Foster-Close to Heaven book and the 2-in-1 book. www.rickfosterguitar.com

I would not go around comparing renditions by

Best acoustic version I’ve ever seen. Better than Chet Atkins… better than the guy who originally arranged it, Guy Van Duser.
Hey, Rick, are you playing that in A in standard tuning or what?
If you have never heard Chet Atkins play this piece, well here is a link to a TH-cam video: th-cam.com/video/V8BDYETDM5c/w-d-xo.html
Actually this is G Van Duser's arrangement.

Muy bueno, pero muy nervioso a comparacion de Chet Atkins, igual me gusto mucho, felicitaciones 👍
Rick toca "Stars and Stripes Forever" el siempre, pero John Phillip Sousa y Guy Van Duser = los maestros
You can only be insulted if you choose to be.
Some people live to be offended about something.
He was talking about the Lord Jesus Christ!
Religion divides people, spirtuality unites them...
MOVE OVER Chet Atkins...TOTALLY awesome
Got good hair.
This arrangement is super hard to play.
One dislike? Lets see you do it better!
Sounds just like Chet.
WOW ! On an acoustic guitar no less!! Maybe only Jimmy Page could do this better!!
You are kidding right? Page couldn't pull this off with a year of practice. Not because he isn't good but he doesn't play fingerstyle well enough to even begin something like this arrangement.
I've heard Chet Atkins rendition, and you did a better job....he just got the notoriety.
i love chet but he got his butt kicked on this one.
What Lord are you speaking of? You can insult people if you're not careful while you're throwing your religion around...
Jesus Christ our Lord, Savior and Redeemer. Rick Foster and Christopher Parkening play to the glory of God.
Yes, it does tempt us beginners to throw our guitars away... hehehe
Terriific
Bravo !
