HighBrass 777 if you want a 1” piece to stitch measure 1 and one eighth from the end. That will give you the place to put the crew punch. Or fold the leather then mark. Where the middle is. . I might do a video on this for you. If I can find time
Yes when I use my round knife I move the leather . I should add not all the time but I Mainly do it that way. The round knife is a great tool that does many cuts. It is worth mastering it. I also have a video on how I use my round knife. I don't watch my videos although I would imagine I go into more detail on how I cut with a round knife. When I make a video I don't pre plan I pick up the camera and start shooting. I then publish them. That is partly why I don't remember what I shoot
This tool is a simple cheap tool used by people to get started. I would imagine a tool like this costs £10. I don't use this tool I have hand tools. They must cost about £40 each. I must have around 30 different sizes. They would be round and oval. This tool is way to slow for me to use but it is a good tool for someone starting out or the person in their house that wants to make one hole now and then.

on the first cut you seem to use both the knife and pulling the leather to make the cut, does this method offer more control?

WHY does this tool assume EVERYONE is looking to make round holes, most of my belts have OBLONG holes- what now ??
