    Thank you. Try clear nail polish in those Chicago screws and around the back of the leather of each screw or concho. Also thanks for the sharpie edge tip. Plastic cutting boards. Belt blanks. Wooden mallet. Cutting tool. And ruler.

    What an awesome professional eloquent video!!! You are a very cool guy!!! Thank you for answering my questions. I found a vintage Gucci belt buckle that I want to add to a belt I already have that has an unattractive buckle.

    Great video Chuck. I use to be a 34" when I was a teen but now ya just reverse the numbers and even ad a little. It has become easier to make my own belts for my size. I am enjoying making belts and other leather stuff (with inspiration from your videos) to outfit my family. Everyone likes my stuff except for the vegan in the family. I told them that "veggie tan" meant that the leather was made from vegetables. Weaver products are great quality and with all this video support elevates your company. Thank You

      Thanks for checking out our channel, James! You can absolutely make you own belt and you'll feel good knowing you made it yourself. If you do try it, make sure to let us know how it goes and have fun!

      @@WeaverLeatherSupply I'm not sure I caught it in the video but... The width of the belt buckle is the same of the actual belt right? For example if a belt buckle width is 35 mm then the belt itself needs to be 35 mm? Thanks man great video!

      Have you watched the sharpening video? We'll link it below for you, it shows using both a strop and thread to sharpen the edger.

    I have a 50mm wide belt
    And buckle that would for 40mm wide belt
    Is there a way to use the buckle for the 50 mm wide belt please ?

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would have to taper both the end that attaches to the buckle and the ends with the adjustment holes. Here is a video showing how to taper the ends of your strap. th-cam.com/video/sgYVO1l4HDU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GD7yB7bEqnoVaR4U

    I can never get the holes to line up straight when I use the rotary punch.

  • @packetpirate

    I'm working on a belt now and I used the largest size punch on my rotary punch when punching out the holes for the buckle. I haven't tried it out yet. Would that hole size be too big?

    Hey 👋 it’s me again, so Chuck encourages oil dyes. Would I need oil paint if I want to paint then? I use Feibings pro dye and finish with their atom wax. I was a painter for years oil and water not so great together. Thanks for your videos and always responding 👍

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi!
      We recommend using acrylic paints which work well on plain leather or on top of dyed leather. The Feibing's Pro Dye does not have enough oil content to create any unwanted reactions with the paint. However, we don’t recommend using paint on oily leathers as the oil will keep the paint from adhering well. Thank you for watching!

    Chuck, l made the mistake of putting some chrome tanned leather on the back of a belt for a lining and it turned the brass buckle green. I had to replace with stainless and l didn't use Chicago screws, but rivets instead so it wasn't so easy to remove. l do believe I'll go with the screws from now on. Luckily I made it for me and not a customer. Just a heads up for anyone. Is that crackled leather veg or chrome tanned?

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there,
      Great reminder, we've been there too!
      The crackled leather is a veg tanned water buffalo in Antique Brown. This is available in 8/9 oz. as a single bend or you can buy the pre-cut belt blanks.

    Is your cutting board marble?

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jennifer,
      The marble is used as a surface to stamp and tool on, or as a base for a cutting or punching board. You don't want to cut or punch directly on the marble or it will ruin your blades but it helps give a sturdy base when you add a cutting board on top.
