    I have done that more than once with my cub!
    Same thing… see the cap bobbing and oil splatting on the side of the fuselage and wing struts.
    We learned that the cap needed a good rubber gasket that was thick enough to put some pressure on the cap.

    Reminds me of when I was practicing touch & goes in my J-3, when just after take off and on downwind, the fuel tank started to drip; that got my attention . . . fuel off, mags off and landed back at the airport . . . back in 1965 . . .

    I bought a new Ford truck in 77. When I did the first oil change the clip that is cramped to the cap let go and fell inside the valve cover on the head. I fished it out with a magnet. Then I drilled the clip and installed a screw to hold it on.
