Its crazy on how an earlier g1 transformation was so simple to something a little more complex. He def looks g1 accurate and looks great but, the proportions somewhere in the waist/chest looks off. I just bought my first fanstoys product (ft-53 parkour) and i gotta say their quality in packaging and toy is fan-frickin'-tastic!! Blew me away on how well the toy feels in hand. Def know where the money goes when buying one. Awesome review by the way. 👍
So far I have FT Perceptor 2, Seaspray 2, Huffer, and KOs of their Cyclonus, Astrotrain, and Soundwave. I have personally found that the bigger you go with FansToys, the more cumbersome and annoying their toys tend to be. Cyclonus isn't so bad, but Astrotrain just seems needlessly weighed down with tons of diecast that only inhibit poseability and dig into your flesh on the corners from the weight. Soundwave isn't too bad, but still the weight from the diecast on friction joints is very iffy. Perceptor is like a medium-sized autobot, almost two heads shorter than MP-44 Prime ko I have, yet it weighs I think a little more than Prime iirc. It's a great figure, but still, I don't muck about too much with the friction joints on him. Seaspray is a fairly small autobot, but still weighs a ton for his size. Huffer I only just recently got, and only transformed him once, so I can't speak much on him yet, other than to say the transformation was really fun. I get that they're trying to go for a premium feel with tons of diecast metal, but they don't seem to want to increase the joint stability to compensate for all that added heft.
Gotta admit this one isn't a straight win for FT, I'm still undecided after receiving mine yesterday. Any tips for fixing that bit of looseness in the knee before it hits the first ratchet? I noticed it when I pick him up and lean him back, more obvious in his left knee. It droops a little, yours looks to be the same when I watched the review.
He looks good for the most part, but I don't know if the paint finish alone is enough to replace my deformation space. Great review as usual, but I'll wait for the versus to make my decision. No pressure on you though, lol.
Damn that was quick 🥳do like how the chest window is in the middle of the chest with red space at the top where DS had the chest window reaching the top of his chest and that transformation is super impressive, may end up getting him after I get my DS customized into Twincast afterall. Thanks for the review 👌
Did you happen to notice the extra tab to clean up the lower leg? There’s a tab above the two red circles near the foot. Applying pressure and pushing the foot up snaps them in place.
IMHO, I am extremely happy with my deformation that I am calling it a day for my definitive Blaster figure. I also have the deformation seekers, and they too are definitive version of the characters. The icing on the cake was that they were only 85 bucks each. Takara and Fanstoys lost these characters to Deformation in my opinion.
¡Caramba! You are absolutely right about the cassette deck's placement! I didn't like it when I first noticed that it would be off-centre in the transformed mode, but it really is in accordance with that cartoon model design. So I can't blame Fans Toys' engineers for making a wrong design choice. It's weird that I have never noticed it before.
Another great review and damn you got this out quick! It will be cool to see if NuSupply comes out with some sound wave blast effects for those speaker hands.
Hmmm… decisions, decisions. Think I’ll end up keeping both the DS and FT, and try and make a display so one goes with the MMC tapes, and then have the FT with its Tapes in another display with season 2 or 3 bots.
Have to say... if the DS blaster had this paint it would be no contest. The whole top half has so many issues. Low shoulders, not broad enough in the chest and the abdominal region is silly. Thanks for a good review. Doubt I'll purchase this now.
I hesitated before ordering this guy since I already had the DS, but went in anyhow since I don't mind having 2 of some characters. Seeing the paint shine in your lights definitely makes me glad I did. I was never the biggest fan of the red on the DS version, and that red on Recorder just puts it to shame. How is Rewind though? He looks good, but so did Rumble/Frenzy. And now they're floppy messes. Are the legs all diecast? Great review, as always!
Great review Sony. I really appreciate how you go over every detail and you make the transformation look easy. As a kid I really didn’t like Blaster as I thought he was no comparison to Soundwave. I got the DS version and if it had FT”s paint I probably would have skipped this release for the first time ever but I can’t stand the caulky paint of the DS so really looking forward to getting mine tomorrow. If TE/DS would have added premium paint to their figures they would easily be up there with FT and XTransbots as the top 3rd party companies and probably still around. Can’t wait for the versus cause these two figures are so close. I’m guessing we see a lot of tied categories.
Its the alt blaster mode. The buttons shifted to the right off centre looks odd. G1 toy has symmetric center located buttons. I have Ds and it looks better to me but I will grab this when it hits 169$.
I probably would have preferred a Marvel comics style head to a toy style head, but still a good figure. The transformation looks weird! But in an interesting way. It's weirdly asymmetrical. Looking forward to the comparison before I decide which figure I go with.
Looking forward to the VS, I know my preference but I think it'll be a close one. Watching your review I see the shoulders are accurate to the toon but still think they make him look derpy. I agree the FT video did not do any favors to this offering. Your video and Paik's made the transformation look easier and more fun than I had originally thought. 👍
Oh man... *looks at the original G1 toy* ... how did something so simple become so complex... Is FansToys trying to go: *mmmm.... how can we make this needlessly complex for absolutely no reason...
Good luck! I was late to the show myself, started collecting 4yrs ago with simple ko purchases. Now it is an investment. More 3p figs than ko and official takara figs. Plus the displays! Ugh
@@Justhereforinsanity yeah I do have some new gen figures but sadly where caught in a building fire there are some I was able to savage but so burnt parts are permanently black out
@@crazyjamez2360 that is terrible. I'm sorry about your situation. I really haven't redone my insurance and by that I mean none of this $3k collection is listed but I've got more photos than a spy satellite 😂🤣
Great review as always. Maybe it’s just me but his transformation seems needlessly too complicated. And his head going off to the side is just odd. I’d much rather it only fit 1 tape and have the had go straight back and in.
I prefer Twincast colours, so if I DO decide to replace my KFC Doubledeck, i'll be waiting until this is available in those colours. I still feel the legs are more complicated than they should be...
The more reviews I see, something about this just doesn't work for me. Im not sure if the proportions are out, or if the sculpt is slightly off, but it feels... lifeless.
The proportions are based on the cartoon, and unfortunately he is very akwardly proportioned, it's an example of when toon sculpt goes too far for some people and makes the whole figure not worthwhile
they are awful, i'm sorry there soundwave is leagues above this, this guy looks awful proportion wise, this guy might have been ok with a nice big ol ab crunch to help disguise the awful proportions i think that might have helped a lot to pose him a bit more dynamically, A stancing this guy makes him look ridiculous and derpy and that awful awful floating neck just makes it look that much worse
Blaster is one of those designs that I never liked in the cartoon so getting one that is toon accurate is not for me. The KFC version is undeniably Blaster with a different look that works for me.
Another one where the Tape Minion Ejection Mechanism sucks. It's been how long and how many figures, and yet nobody has figured it out at any scale!? And something is off about his proportions, he shouldn't be the same size as Prime. That leg transformation is hideous, though...yikes.
Dude if you wanna suck on Fanstoys you can. but all that folding in the legs is uncalled for. It's way too over complicated for a Blaster Transformation. I don't care what you say.
Its crazy on how an earlier g1 transformation was so simple to something a little more complex. He def looks g1 accurate and looks great but, the proportions somewhere in the waist/chest looks off.

That DS-02 is a truly elite figure IMO as far as Blaster goes, that being said I love both of them. I'll probably just keep both.
@@LetsGetitBoah Yeah, if I get the fans toys I’ll keep them both and have one in alt-mode all the time.

Love the toy head! Leaning towards getting it just for that reason
Looks Great.. Awsome!.. Great Review ✨️ 😃
To care is to share! I would think, closing the deck lid, and activating the button, would slide the second tape forward into place?
Thanks for sharing! He looks good, but I feel like he's too slim, especially at the chest and arms.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the review. Looking forward to your VS. on this one.

Thanks
Very nice review. Can’t wait for the DS comparison video!!!
Thanks, coming tomorrow
Going to wait till the V/S on this one before I commit, this would make a first time for me before purchasing a figure.
Just picked up my FT-55 and I was blown away by the quality. Can you recommend where I can find a good Blast Fire effect for his gun? Thank you!
I haven't seen any made yet, but our friend NuSupply will probably get to it eventually
He looks so dopey
Hmmm… decisions, decisions. Think I’ll end up keeping both the DS and FT, and try and make a display so one goes with the MMC tapes, and then have the FT with its Tapes in another display with season 2 or 3 bots.
Great video as always Sony!, keep doing your thing my brother 😊
Thanks man
Man, these proportions are so unlike FansToys, he looks a bit dorky and derpy
Truth, it looks goofy
I think it looks great very toon it’s not for everyone I admit but the quality of paint and materials is what put me over the edge and won me over
Yeah your right. They picked a generic tv g1 still shot to go by. They should have grabbed any still from the movie.
I'll keep my DS one I think, though the all creaking during transformation made me nostalgic for G1 Blaster
Great review! Why is MP-13 "permanent alt mode"?
Have to say... if the DS blaster had this paint it would be no contest. The whole top half has so many issues. Low shoulders, not broad enough in the chest and the abdominal region is silly. Thanks for a good review. Doubt I'll purchase this now.

Rewind in the cartoon has a red face and Eject orange. Hope they just mix it up and will give Eject the red face, so I can change them.
Its the alt blaster mode. The buttons shifted to the right off centre looks odd. G1 toy has symmetric center located buttons. I have Ds and it looks better to me but I will grab this when it hits 169$.
Excellent review and transformation
Wish I could get the Rewind figure separately.
I probably would have preferred a Marvel comics style head to a toy style head, but still a good figure. The transformation looks weird! But in an interesting way. It's weirdly asymmetrical.

Can you not get the tape out by closing the door and pushing the button on the back, thus sliding the tape into the front position?

Thanks, and I agree altho toon accurate, it looks derpy in a few spots
DS Blaster will be in permanen alt mode soon too…not going to lie a bit sad bc it’s a good figure.
Thanks for the review 👍🏾

Is it possible to make him stand better? Mine leans on the heels keeping him tilted backwards when standing straight.
Yes, I covered this during review at the very beginning
Oh man... *looks at the original G1 toy* ... how did something so simple become so complex...
Is FansToys trying to go: *mmmm.... how can we make this needlessly complex for absolutely no reason...
If this had a Marvel comic style head (the toy head is close but the eyes are wrong) I'd order one right now.

The only thing this has over the DS Blaster is the painted finish. That's it.

It looks absolutely awesome. I was afraid of the transformation of the legs but you made it look very easy and fun! Nice video great job.
Thanks!
Fanstoys painted the chest of Rewind incorrectly. The gold pieces on his chest should point inward.
Waist looks weird but comparing it to the G1 cartoon it seems to be accurate. The cartoon Blaster looked weird as well
Yep
great review! kfc all the way baybee ✊
Honestly in appearance resembles a mainline Hasbro figure.
Great review ,great looking bot , but Articulation sux for this guy can't wait for ds to blow it out of the water on articulation..
The bottom knee joint is friction!? What a weird choice...
Yes
Nope. I'm good with my EAVI Transistor.

Don’t like the joint on the white part of the head, wrists, waist /crotch, low shoulders. But the paint and fast forward look good.
Fanstoys does it again!
Blaster is one of those designs that I never liked in the cartoon so getting one that is toon accurate is not for me. The KFC version is undeniably Blaster with a different look that works for me.
Hollow legs on Rewind..
