Between you, Kirsty Meakin, and Anastasia from Nailcou, I have learned so much! I started out doing my own nails using nail polish and now I work with gel polish, builder gel, acrygel, and dip powder. I’m also getting more comfortable using an e-file. I’m excited to say that at the age of 42, I’ve enrolled in nail school!

I'm a man that never cared for doing nails but I have a wife that I love to pamper. I don't have the finance to always get her nails done so I am on this quest to learn to do her nails myself. It is almost 3 in the morning and I'm practicing on my nails while watching your videos so I can at least buff her nails tomorrow (I guess this would be called buffing nails). I just did my thumbnail and it is shining like I put on some polish or whatever. I don't know how to do cuticles yet and am kind of scared to do it because I'm afraid I'll hurt her nails. Anyway, I'm so ready to get off work tomorrow to do this buffing work on her nails. I don't care about the macho type attitude when it comes to giving my wife the best so I'm going to learn to do these nails. At least till I can pay to keep them done consistently. Thank you so much for this video

Wow, this is awesome. I love the story. I’m curious which product you are learning with? If you don’t mind, I’d like to share some advice on that.
I suggest start learning how to build and sculpt a nail on a form, if that’s the route, you’re going, with hybrid gel. It is the easiest to learn. If you were insistent on acrylic, which is fantastic medium, I suggest you start with slow, curing, monomer and powder. It’ll help you learn much faster. Hard shell is fantastic as well but if you’re going to do the Gel stick with the hybrid.
If you’re wanting quicker results, I fully suggest full cover tips. It’ll give you results quicker. Learning full sculpt from a form is a much longer learning curve. Meanwhile she could be wearing the full cover tips but there’s a fair bit that goes to that as well. Check out my playlist for full cover tips. If that’s the route, you go. I also have a playlist for acrylic and hybrid gel

@NailCareerEducation you are speaking a language I don't understand at all. I heard you talk about building and sculpting in some videos so I have an idea of what that is but I don't know about any gels and polish. I use items from Amazon and I do not know how professional they are. I have teenitor professional nail files. It includes a flex 100/180, flex 220/280, edge 180, edge 150, edge 240, shiner 1000/4000. I've been using clear fingernail polish hardener by Sally Hansen. I put one coating on and that's all. I have a metal cuticle pusher and the clipping things that come with it (not sure what is called). I suck at the cuticles because I don't know what to look for

@NailCareerEducation when I file my wife's nails, which are natural nails, should I put nail polish on her nails to strengthen and make them healthy? Or could they stay healthy and strong with no polish? She has some other polish but I'm taking your advice and just learning to file and shape them for now. Plus I don't want to use the polish without knowing how to apply it correctly.

I don’t usually don’t read comments. For some reason this one caught my eye. You are a very special man, husband, and friend to your wife. My husband and I are in different states temporarily. He would sit on the end of the couch and I would lie down with my feet in his lap after my shower. I worked hard at my job and I commented that my feet hurt. He started massaging my feet and it relieved my pain and relaxed me. I was so excited that this man loved me enough to do this for me that I was ready to do anything to keep him happy. We have been together 37 years now. We talk on the phone every day and I have no interest in anyone other than my husband. Little things mean a lot in a relationship. Little things can strengthen your bond to one another. God Bless You and your relationship with your wife forever.😊

We have a pink 240, black 100/180 and a black 80. I personally hate all of these. I love zebra files. Because I'm mainly a gel nail tech, I only use the 180. I think they need to see the difference between black, white and zebra.

While my nails are healing and growing back I’ve dedicated myself to learning as much as possible before I touch my nails again. Of course I was fortunate enough to come across your channel first and through you I’ve learned about others In the industry that have taught me much. I’m always coming back to your channel where I started to see what you’ve posted, I just really learn so much from you, you break it down so simply especially since I’m just a diy I only do my own nails not looking to have a business or nail salon I just want to have chance to do my own nails. Didnt work much why it was the spongy one! Lesson learnt and not the best thing to do watching tv dust everywhere eventually. Lesson number 2 learnt there lol. See you next week xxx

I’m always using the buffer before the application no matter if I use gel or acrylics. I never had lifting issues in more than 20 years. But I found out that it depends a lot of the quality of the material you use. I used cheaper gels and monomers and had lifting. But with the acid primer and high quality material - no lifting at all. I learned that a big reason for lifting is also, when you work too close to the cuticle area or don’t file it correctly. I see this all the time with beginners or students. Many are simply afraid to file so close to the cuticle area. Once they lose that fear - lifting is not much of an issue then.
De-sharpening the files is very important!! Thank you for mentioning it.
    Great video.

Wow you are amazing for sharing your knowledge I’m new to learning how to do my own nails. I’ve been watching your videos and learning so much. I’m starting with poly gel as a beginner then builder gel then acrylic later on. I had no idea about files but it answered so many questions on why I had lifting and my polish wouldn’t last long. Thank you so much for breaking down the different grit numbers and what application they use, loved your example of sand paper for wood crafts and panting, makes so much sense. I bought an efile but from your other video I’ll practice that with a practice finger before I try it on my hand for safety, and will use hand files until I can move on to the efile. They didn't turn out great and I tried to file them down with my Melodysuzie e-file drill. I used the sandpaper bit and didn't realize it was on slow so it was not good. I've been looking on the Canadian site Amazon at drill bits and I heard that carbide was the best but there are so many different kinds and packages its confusing as to which ones I should get. PLEASE can you help me pick out the useful drill bits? I would be so grateful. I'm now watching all your videos and have subscribed. Thank you 😊

HI Suzie, I know the chances of you seeing this comment is very slim but I'll ask anyway. First off, I hope you're doing good and thank you and camera man for the work and effort you put into your content. Now to my request, Can you make a video showing how you prep(filing and all) a natural nail for hybrid gel and also how you do the hybrid gel. Lastly can you go into details on filing the hybrid gel and getting that happy almond shape. I wanna attempt doing my nails next Saturday and I would love one video I could follow step by step. Thank you.

Definitely need to sit down and watch this. I have flat nails which are oddly shaped and I have always hated them. 😤

Thanks for this information! I have another filing question to which I have not been able to find the answer: When prepping my natural nails for home gel application, what grit should I use? I know it should be sponge, but 180? 240? I was using a hard file and even though I was filing very lightly, I found that my nails would become thin and weak after 3 or so applications. Is some weakening inevitable? Do I have to rough up the top EVERY time I remove and apply gel polish? Thanks in advance for your input!

      Use 180 Grit
Protect the natural by applying two coats of base. Then when you remove you file down to that so you don’t hit the natural nail all the time. And yes you do have to rough up everytime, gel sticks to rough surfaces💛

Yes, there is a lot of misinformation, especially when it comes to prepping that nail. I see so much advice of using a fine file and it really is the worst thing.

For gel prep on natural nails it would be best to use a sponge rather than a hard file ?

Is there another way to remove acrylic or gel nails if you don’t have an e-file? I love your channel! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us❤️

If you’re trying to remove gel polish without an e-file, I would personally suggest using a hand file to buff the surface of the nail and sand down the top layer of gel then soak your hands in acetone until the gel becomes soft enough to remove. Alternatively, you could use cotton balls or cotton pads saturated with acetone and wrap them around your nails using aluminum foil. Let them soak for about 10-15 min. until the gel starts lifting and then try to use an orange stick to kinda scrape it away. Repeat the process if needed. Remember to moisturize your cuticles and hands afterward by using a cuticle oil and lotion, because the acetone will dry out the skin.

Love it Susy! I always use two nail files: 180/240 for length and sides, and a spongie for the nail plate. I do soft gel and gel polish.
Can you say how to file soft gel extensions without an e file? Today I have a class about soft gel, and the technician teach me to do it with an e file, but I don't own one.

Hi all! For anyone who can answer, when doing gel polish I’ve seen people buff over the design because it’s slightly raised and some people don’t like that feeling. What kind of grit would be appropriate to slightly smooth down the raised feeling of the design without actually taking the gel polish off?

Hi Ryan's mom Sam here.... I love everything you do you teach me so much 😁 you mentioned lifting I would love a video off how to stop this from prep to what file to use as I always use a buffing block and you said that this might not work properly so I would love to know what I'm doing wrong 😁💖💓💖

A little off topic, but I have a question. I recently watched some of your older videos where you use full cover nail tips. In those videos I didn't see you file around the cuticle, is that an optional step to do? Or did you not include is in your videos?

    • @NailCareerEducation
      @NailCareerEducation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Really depends on what your goal is
      Buffing for polish - a gentle 240
Roughing for Gel Polish - gently use a 180
Roughing for enhancements- gently use a 180-150 you can use a 100 but very gently but not for damaged nails
