    I would have never considered putting in real plants into a tank till i saw your videos. Got rid of my plastic plants quickly and brought in ferns, java moss and all kinds of other plants. Now i have crystal clear water, all fish and shrimps are happy and i barely have to do water changes. Its amazing how much easier fish keeping becomes just by adding a few little plants. I'm even having fish and shrimp breed as a result of the introduction of plants :D

    Hello! Your manacapuru angel crossed with the gold pearlscale should give you all wild type looking fish. All offspring will all carry a pearlscale recessive gene so if you cross two of those you should get 25 % of the fry being pearlscale and 75 % of those pearscale will be wild type looking. I particularly love the way those fish look like!
    About your black angels, in my experience blacks have a lower fertility rate, especially if they are double-dose dark. They do look amazing so it is definitely worth the effort!
    Keep up the good work!

    hey mate, your video's popped up on my feed so i decided to have a look.
    i like your set up! not bad at all.
    i'm a local breeder myself !
    i supply 7 fishes and A1 aquarium (my lfs in tsv), hopefully start supplying aquarium central (sunny coast) and nautilus aquarium (carrum downs vic) in the near future.
    i started with a 20L tank roughly 18 months ago, that blew up to around 3,500L in a one bedroom unit, im currently relocating too around 200m squared with roughly 35,000L of water in many many tanks/tubs/ibc's.
    i already have a commercial property in my sights for next year, which will be 835m squared, aiming for a total of 100,000L of water to breed / grow out in.
    turned my hobby into a lifestyle, which is now becoming a fully fledged company! gfish Aquatics (wholesale breeder, supply commercial only)
    definitely something in the water ;-)

    Hi Nick, I have a question. So I've got a pair of angelfish and I am trying to breed them. So the female lays eggs about every 2 weeks. And the eggs look fine for 1 night (a few white ones) but then after the second night all the eggs are white and they are eating them. Have you got any tips on what I can do to get more succes? Thanks!

    • @Nemesis0513
      @Nemesis0513 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Give them some time. They’ll probably figure out how breeding works eventually, especially if they’re a new pair. Eventually, they’ll fertilize ‘em right and you’ll start seeing fry. Hopefully. Also, discus sometimes have issue with eggs calcifying, dunno if angels have the same issue.

      Depending on what you’re putting in and how you go about it, you can get pretty far if you’re careful. For example, my local area really needs shrimp, so I could spend 20$ and get a bucket and three or four berried shrimp from the shop, which should produce around 60 shrimplets, which can probably get me 50$ in return over the course of three months. Obviously, it gets more difficult as you scale up in size and production, as well as diversifying in species, but figure out what people like and what breeds easy, then try to strike a balance. This is for a hobbyist’s fishroom type of deal, I don’t know about the deal once it comes to larger quantities of tanks and fish.

    • @seangere9698
      @seangere9698 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You won't make any or very little for the first few months.
      You need lots of equipment, time, and growing time that you have to take into consideration. It also depends on what you want to breed. The best way to get your foot into the door is start with simple things. Betas, shrimp, guppies, mollies and the like. Once you have these down you can "upgrade" your breading stock. You also have to decide on how you want to sell. Do you want to sell online, to shops, to wholesalers, and so on. One thing I would say is pick one way you want to sell and stick to that. Don't sell online then try to sell to shops or wholesalers, and the same for selling to wholesalers then selling to shops. Doing so will cause more problems for you especially if they find out you are selling to another. Wholesalers will see you as competition if you sell to stores. Stores will see you as competition if you sell online as will most wholesalers.
      Some will be ok with you selling the other way especially if you sell online and you only sell outside of your local area or state but still most won't like it.
      The reason I say the above species to breed is they are easy to breed with little to no introversion on your part, beta being the only one that you have to be hands on but are always in demand. Guppies and mollies you just need a barrier that the adults can't get through but the babies can so no babies or very little get eaten. Shrimp are extremely simple you just need to have a couple of males and a few females. All can be kept and breed in tubs and all you need it some floating plants and sponge filters. Something that takes more time and more hands on are plecos. You can always offload babies of any species of plecos. I would start with bristle nose of any type you can get ahold of.
      But once you get started and have a good breeding stock of what you want to breed and they are at breeding age/size you will start making money. Just do your homework first and see what sells, ask shops if they would be willing to purchase from you if you choose to sell to shops, same goes for wholesalers you will also have to find wholesalers talk to them get to know them as a person and find out what they are looking for then plan your breed adventure around that. As for online, look at sites and see what sells and what is almost never in stock and see if that's something you can work with. If you can then you are golden. Talk to your local fish breeding societies if there is/are any in your local area. They will be of great help in what is in demand, who you can talk to about offloading fish and the like.
      It also comes down to what your local area needs. Go to shops, not petco or petsmart or any other chain store as they only purchase from a select few wholesalers and breeders that produce hundreds of thousands each week. Trust me I used to breed reptiles and Dart frogs and I contacted Petsmart headquarters and they said I would have to produce enough to service 100 shops. I would have to produce, say around 500-1k bearded dragons each month to be on the lowest end for them to even think of purchasing from me. So stick with your local mom and pops fish store and stay away from chain stores. Plus chain stores almost always deal with WC wholesalers.

    Anyone looking to buy plants from this man I'd highly suggest wysteria, I'm fairly new to the hobby and it is so easy to maintain and keep healthy all you need is a light and they go crazy! I float it for my honey gourami and he loves it !
