“The Part Where He Kills You” has always been one of my favorite jokes of all time!
I think it was my 2nd or 3rd run of the game that I just stood there and let him. It's also funny to see/hear his reaction if come back after he's begging you to come back and then just jump into the pit.
Reminds me a bit of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
The achievement repeating it for a 3rd time is what got me when I played it.
"Threatened to stab you... didn't think that was going to happen in your fantasy game.." *looks nervously at Tonberry*.

to be fair, i would not bother the savior and manager of all game save files too much. He could go mental and delete my saves.
but to be fair... in the time of cloud based storage (cloud as in, another guys pc... you know) the threat is much lower today.
I adore Haskill. Especially if you decide to do Sheo's quest after you're already the new Madgod. He sighs and concludes that praying to yourself and giving yourself a quest is actually pretty typical for a mad god.
That is my favorite line from Haskill haha
Ellen's childish glee at annoying the Stanley narrator is so accurate to how it feels to play that game.
So true 😅 Like with older Animal Crossing games due to Mr Resetti if you quit the game without saving properly enough times to get him to try and force you to apologise but you basically tell him to do one instead 😈😆
Ellen is a treasure and should be protected at all costs by the other legendary folks at OutsideXtra and by us as well (the loyal fans/viewers)!

Well, duh. He was teetering between the Mania and Dementia aspects with his voice.

Most telling is how he sounds shortly before disappearing. At that point, Order had taken hold.
Pikachu getting zap happy when he's ornery is pretty in keeping with the anime, so no surprises there.

Not even Professor Oak could tame his free spirit. I remember he seems to have a thing for giving angry lectures to misbehaving Pokemon like Tentacruel or Mewtwo.

I've waited years to mention it, because I figured it wouldn't be seen, but I have an idea for video: 7 times you KNEW that 'dead' body was gonna attack you as soon as you get close (working title). Seeing Zoe play Dead Space reminded me that sometimes you just know that guy's playing possum until you're in in arm's (or claw's) reach
Good idea. I can think of dead space, half life 2, and bioshock entries just off the top of my head.

There is only one necromorph in Dead Space, who is actually dead, when you encounter it in a bathroom. I'm always confused, why it doesn't try to kill me. 😂
I think you used the perfect two-word sentence to finish the title. 7 times you KNEW that "dead" body was playing possum.

To be fair to these NPCs, sometimes *I* get annoyed by the hero's antics.

I've never played Portal but Steve Merchant ranting and raving about "if I came round YOUR house, and started smashing YOUR telly" absolutely sent me
Chell from portal 2 was actually supposed to have a line of dialog at the end of the game, wheatley was going to be heckling her when he took away the shutdown button and say he had enabled voice commands, she was supposed to use a voice command to win and it would go to black screen as she talked but the testers were confused since they didn't know what she sounded like and thought maybe someone else was there.
She just hated all of the robots, for good reason and deemed it beneath her to actually talk to them. She was messing with Wheatley in that scene.
That's my head canon now.
Petition for Ellen to bake as a challenge in the next Show of the Weekend!. Let's say make a cake with Kratos' colors or in Sonic's shape to keep it videogame related

Save moogle mentioning the knife reminded me of Tonberry's and he only thing saving you from them is how slow they are, a moogle that has proven to have ridiculous speed armed with one of those knives would legit instantly destroy the party if it fought them lol.
The tonberry's knife isn't the issue. It's the attack they do that is.
If memory serves Wes Johnson, VA of Lord Sheogorath, was inspired by both the Irish and Scottish accents, he dropped a name of a comedian. So he chose to do a mix of Irish and Scottish accents for Sheo.
To be further fair, if any video game NPC would absolutely deliberately choose an infuriatingly jumbled accent, it would be Sheogorath.

In the Oblivion Shivering Isles DLC as the story progresses and he becomes more "sane" the accent gets less outrageous. By the time the Grey March arrives it has toned down considerably.

I've never played The Stanley Parable, but hearing that narrator say "sweet fa" like that absolutely sent me. I also love the adenoid voice it takes when mocking the player for standing in the broom closet when it talks about the player talking about the broom closet ending; major Clarkson vibes there, lol.
I love messing with Wheatley. Another good one is just standing in the first room he wants you to solve and doing nothing. It doesn't take too long to get the achievement, but the whole time you refuse to push the button he's there complaining about it and dropping "hints" about what to do. I do love his increasing desperation for his "fix" with the puzzle solving and GLaDOS being snide about resisting the urge and all.
I love Andy in the background of the cat section. I've no room to talk because I too would spend a lot of time petting the cat or any video game animal I'm allowed to pet.
You really should play The Stanley Parable. The narrator, and how he responds to your behavior in the game, is the chief attraction to the game, so you would enjoy it very much.
@@roguishpaladin It's on my wishlist, but I've been waiting on it, and I also have so many games I'm in the middle of. I say that knowing I've started yet another run of BioShock Infinite as it's one of my main comfort games, lol.
The entire game (Stanley Parable) is just literal hours and hours of this sassy British man getting progressively irritated with your shenanigans, the Broom Closet is just the tip of the iceberg
10/10, would stand in a Broom Closet for 15 minutes waiting for more dialogue again
@@SolaScientia There's like 3 different versions of Stanley Parable now, all with lots of different lines from the narrator.
Also, Stray is a great video game cat game. You can't _exactly_ pet the cat, but you can have it curl up and nap, which makes the PS5 controller purr like a kitten.
I believe Ellen had a lot of fun getting the capture for Portal 2
Mei Ling in Metal Gear Solid who, if you keep asking to SAVE but repeatedly press DO NOT SAVE instead, will at first forgive you, then tell you not to call her unless he’s serious, not allow you to save at all and, eventually, poke her tongue out.
Ah yes, Mei Ling! I think she was the first NPC I ever deliberately annoyed. That game had a lot of fun things like that.
Rosemary from MGS2 also reacts badly if Raiden engages in too much questionable behaviour, like gunning down seagulls or hanging out in the restroom for gratuitous amounts of time.
Wow looking forward to the Ellen baking special. Like how Andy has made video game drinks on the show before!
The Stanley Parable has another one, when you're in the boss's office and need to put a code in the keypad in order to open a secret door. The narrator keeps telling you the correct code, getting more flustered, before just opening the door himself. Do this on enough loops, and the narrator will just open the door as soon as you enter the room, ushering you along quickly.
You could fill multiple of these lists of just the Stanley Parable Narrator getting tired of your crap lol
In the Leviathan DLC for Mass Effect 3, there is a husk head that screeches at you whenever you interact with it. Do that too often and it literally explodes. You can also get it as a pet, later on (though, then, it won't explode anymore).
There's also the event that James Vega might interact with it, only to be bitten.
Thankfully, Husks aren't known to be true zombies. Also, good old Medi-Gel.
One could argue it's just a toy that breaks, not an NPC. Still a funny bit though.
@@michaelandreipalon359 There's no such thing as a 'true zombie' anyway. There's so many subtypes of zombies, many of them who don't infect you when bitten.

I thought for sure the Final Fantasy IX one would be when Ruby runs in to yell at you for refusing to advance the plot at the very beginning (by getting the plan wrong like 100 times or something like that).
Pretty sure it's 64 times, but, yeah, that's what I came down here to say.

See this illustrates why for the longest time I thought Wheatley and Shaun were voiced by the same person
In fairness, they do a similarly good job of a character that gets very annoyed the more the player does something that pesters them so I could see where you'd get that impression.
I love the npcs in Tramsformers Fall of Cybertron. Sometimes you are given a button prompt to kill one as you wind up for the kill; but you can stall there and they worriedly try to talk you out of killing them. "!Hey Starscream! Nice day huh? Heheheh *sobs"
Fall of Cybertron was gold. Too bad about Cybertron, though

I wonder if they're familiar with Viva la Dirt League's 'Epic NPC Man'? One of their most popular sketches is when the main quest giver, Greg the Garlic Farmer, finally snaps after adventurers keep skipping his dialog. 😄
Recently on streams, when they're skipping cutscenes quickly they keeps yelling "Skip! Skip!" so I think maybe they've at least seen the skip sketch

So Pikachu gives you a heart attack and Eevee gives you traumatic brain injuries... Hard to say which is worse.

I'm playing Syndicate now, and he is really quite upset when he finds out that the politician's cat name is Desmond. Seems that Shaun liked Desmond more than he let on.
But yeah, Shaun is definitely one of those characters that grows on you (assuming you pay any attention to the 'present day' portion of an AC game, which, honestly, I can easily forgive you if you don't). His descriptions of the various beers in Syndicate is quite amusing.
Oh me too. I always bugged him with a (self voiced) "hey Shaun what you doing?" more times than was necessary.

@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley My personal opinion: 3 is bad, 4 is good but it's a pirate game not a ninja game, Unity now that the bugs are worked out is good (and a lot like the Ezio trilogy), Rogue is annoying (Templars are NOT the good guys, I don't care how much they want to pretend otherwise), and Syndicate is (so far) really good. I own the others (my wife has played them, I haven't yet) and the most I can say about Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla is that they feel more like Dragon Age than Assassin's Creed. Not necessarily a bad thing. But definitely different feel.
I love Shaun, he's such a dork that he happily tried Isu rations freshly printed from ancient food making machines in AC3

I can't believe Ellen's Baking Academy isn't a thing yet.
For some reason I was under the belief that Shaun Hastings was voiced by Stephen Merchant so I thought putting him after Wheatley is a combo move, but looking into it I shattered my beliefs.
Danny wallace and stephen merchant have very similar accents that's why. Still shaun looks pretty much exactly like danny.
One of the best I did was in MGS Sons of Liberty. While you're meant to send Otacon pictures of the new Metal Gear, you can instead send him pictures of the Commandant. At first he just says who the picture is of, but any more and he starts getting annoyed. Which if anything just made me send him more.
I loved Ellen's little laugh at annoying the narrator from Stanley Parable. Also Ellen, I'm baking some cookies right now you can pass off as your own to show Andy he shouldn't underestimate you.
Got really confused by the cat calling the player Desmond right after the Shaun Hastings bit.

Ellen's expressions in this one are particularly on point. Everyone's great as usual but this one's particularly good.

Trying to date all the girls or all the boys in Stardew Valley leads to a cutscene where they all break up with you.
Which actually makes them rather tolerant. I'd break things off for two-timing as soon as I found out and in a community that small everyone knows who you are dating about two hours before you start dating. "Allowed to date four other girls (or guys)" is a really harem-positive attitude.
My favourite/most unfortunate in game dating experience was in Fable 3 where I married a sex worker from the city with arseless chaps on and didn't realise if you were holding hands with them when you fast travelled they came with you, my first wife was not impressed 😅
It’s not quite the same, but in Spider-Man 2 I could never bring myself to leave the Daily Bugle without repeating the interaction dialogue until I heard a) J.K. Simmons J. Jonah Jameson yelling “you’re fired!”, and b) Betty Brant suggesting I ask her out sometime, at which point I immediately ran out (I was young and didn’t understand the concept of dating, or job security, at the time okay?)
As a side note, the gameplay/chair video editing in this particular video was extra well-done!

God of War Ragnarok has a perfect example of this. Ratatoskr, the world tree squirrel, can be summoned by throwing the axe at some chimes. However if you do this while he's currently around he starts to jokingly comment about it until eventually fully breaking down and shouting at Kratos to stop.
I forget, did the previous video cover the shopkeeper from Link's Awakening who KILLS YOU if you steal from him?
Even if you don't go back into the store everyone calls you THIEF. It's a pretty famous "what the hell, player?" moment.
I think they had a 7 list of shopkeepers who would aggro you if stolen from.

In metal gear 1, you can annoy Mei Ling, the woman in charge of your game saving to the point where she will stop talking to you and even making faces at you
