Woah, woah hold your horses from 2005? Amd never created a cpu that can go at par on any quad core or core 2 duo in terms of performance even some xeon can kick amd turion up to the a-series even if on a very very low price. What the heck are you on? Zen series is the only 1 who save amd to oblivion.
Reality check. AMD started kicking Intel's sometime after the release of the Athlon, so shortly after 1999. With the 2007 release of phenom(1), AMD couldn't complete with Intel's new core. Phenom2 fixed most of the fail, but had to go against core2 (Sandy bridge) and got it's ass kicked as well. Zen (2017, ryzen1xxx) may have achieved desktop parity, with aurpremacy happening with either zen+ or zen2 depending on how you look at it. But this isn't 1999-2007 and the desktop is now an afterthought (not including laptops as "desktop"). Just now with a second generation of powerful and reliable servers and an amazing "ryzen 4000" laptop chip, Intel is finally once again feeling that old boot from behind.
Honestly had no idea that AMD had been around for 45 years now; I honestly thought they'd only been around since the Pentium days. Didn't even know they had an 80486 equivalent. I mean, I knew that AMD was one of intel's chief co-producers at one point, but holy crap lol So nice to see my boys in red pullin' ahead in the races nowadays. First modern computer I ever built (thanks to a friend's dad) was an AMD K7 at a whopping 1.05GHz. Prior to that, all the machines my dad and I ever cobbled together from tree belt finds were all intel-based (80386, 80486, Pentium line). But I've been a fan of AMD ever since that little K7 processor. I'm now sitting pretty with an FX-8350-based machine I built myself, and for such an old processor, it still performs surprisingly well for its age.
Gorgeous video. As much as I always been an AMD fan and mostly ran AMD's through my life... I have to disagree with the AMD K6 competing let alone outperforming Pentium2's They were more of a competition towards the Pentium MMX K6-2's on super socket running the motherboard L2 Cache @ 100Mhz was a competition towards the Pentium2's but their slower On motherboard L2 Cache and older architecture was keeping the Pentium2's above 300Mhz on top... K6-2's were still great for the price tho. The Athlons name competed beautifully against intel and took a clear lead around the Athlon64 and the X2's up until the Core2's, Quads and later Core iX
Been an AMD user since mid 90's . They always had the best price\performance ratio. I never built a system with the latest, most expensive components, always the mid choices.
Me lembro de ter um K-6 II, rodava tudo, Photoshop, CorelDraw melhor que o Pentium II, nessa época começou a melhorar muito os processadores da AMD, hoje eles se superaram e estão na frente.

How they're a bit of an underdog, fighting a war on 2 fronts, fighting Nvidia with their Radeon lineup of GPUs, which are quite competent value/budget GPUs, and Intel with their Zen-based CPU lineup that, while it's not better for solely gaming, very solid value CPUs that do better in everything else compared to Intel processors. You could make the argument that they're beating their competitors, in a way.

I have had most of their consumer based CPUs since the K6-2, and still have them, AMD has usually had much more competitive prices vs Intel, and much of the time performed as good, or better... except in the FX line, but it wasn't a terrible processor
Yeah.. 2011 to 2017 is best forgotten from AMDs point of view. AMD let Intel gain significant market share from the launch of FX series in 2011 till the Ryzen family is launched.

"Evolution of AMD processors (1975-2019)"
More like-
"How Intel got kicked in the ass (2005-2019)"
Except the part from 2011 to 2017... so literally half the time frame you mentioned...

It was amazing to see how AMD have the Ryzen from the death.
The DX series has aged very well. I have had FX 6300 and i5 2400 machines. The FX machine gets higher framerates in modern games.
i can still remember i had AMD 486 at 133MHz because Intel did only 100MHz. And that was without overclocking.

Gorgeous video. As much as I always been an AMD fan and mostly ran AMD's through my life... I have to disagree with the AMD K6 competing let alone outperforming Pentium2's
They were more of a competition towards the Pentium MMX
K6-2's on super socket running the motherboard L2 Cache @ 100Mhz was a competition towards the Pentium2's but their slower On motherboard L2 Cache and older architecture was keeping the Pentium2's above 300Mhz on top...
