I remember growing up and listening to a fantastic recording of this Krupa classic that the orchestra made in the 70’s, with the one and only Geoff Myers on the drums. Geoff was from Leeds and occupied the drum stool for Syd for a number of different periods between the late 60’s and the late 70’s. Fergie Maynard, Andy Jervis and Gary Husband were the guys who took over respectively in Geoff’s absence. I recollect, in particular, one incredible drum solo that Geoff gave when the Orchestra played at the bandstand in Harlow Town Park, one beautiful sunny summer Sunday afternoon during the mid 1970’s. What a superb drummer he was. Sadly no longer with us. RIP. Geoff. The memories you made with your incredible musicianship live on.
Now THAT is proper big band swing. Fantastic drumming, super swinging band, cheered me up no end. So looking forward to the band maybe coming to somewhere near Lincolnshire later on this year!
