  • When I started making cakes, I had so many failures due to not properly lining my being tins. I can't stress how important this stage of baking is!
Whilst there are many tricks and hacks using release sprays and other bits and bobs, I find butter and paper the best way to do it.
    Hope you find this helpful!
    Enjoy! x

Great information Georgia! I prefer to not paper the sides of my pans (just the bottom) I feel the cake raises taller when it can cling to the pan. When the cake has cooled for a few minutes, I run a knife between the cake and the pan to release it.

Interesting, I find when the cake is touching the pan directly it cooks quicker. Each to their own right! ❤

Can't BELIEVE I've been lining my tins wrong for years! Realised this when I bought your cake decorating course. I've been greasing between the parchment and the cake, rather than between the parchment and the tin. Doing this your way keeps the parchment completely flat to the tin and gives my cakes such smooth edges. So much better. Even more useful tips in here as always Georgia 😊

I haven’t lined my tins in years. I use a cake release that consists of oil, shortening and flour. I brush that onto my tins and have never had an issue. It saves so much time and parchment.

Hi Georgia. Great video. When you get to the point of baking. Do you cook your cakes on the middle shelf, or the next shelf down, so that the top of the cake is actually in the middle of the oven? Not sure where else to ask you this question.

Good question! My oven has 4 places for the trays so I do bake it on the second to lower one. In general, as central as possible!

If you want it even easier you can just buy pre cut parchment liners in each size.
