  • Please watch this Melbourne timelapse in HD with sound :)
Also definitely check out the new Victoria HDR Timelapse: • Victoria in HDR: Geelo...
In Melbourne we have a saying "If you don't like the weather, just wait a moment..."
I love this great city, you never know what to wear,
but making this timelapse and getting rained on five times a day was pretty fun.
I wonder if you guys can tell all the places in this video... :)
A project at Deakin University in Melbourne, shot mostly on Canon 5D mark iii with a Canon 14mm f2.8 lens.
Movement in the timelapses done using the Kessler CineSlider and the Oracle Controller.
Created by Filip Laureys - www.filiplaureys.com
Music: Kerry Muzzey - Best Day of My Life (purchased from themusicbed.com)

The HDR and post processing helps make this video stand out!! It creates a beautiful hyper realism effect. If you don't like it then enjoy the 99% of other time lapses that are shot normally. But these one has the edge. Congrats on hitting 10,000 views!!!!!!

I live in Melbourne, but I've always wanted to move to Europe permanently. After watching this, it made me want to stay in Melbourne forever!
This would be absolutely the best ad out there, showing the beautiful qualities of Melbourne. One key ingredient missing is AFL though.
But oh well, there is so much about Melbourne that is so beautifully undiscovered, that its impossible to put it all in a 3 min video, you would need an hour video to show everything, if not longer!
    Nice work!

I'm using the Kessler CineSlider with the Oracle Controller... it is a pretty awesome piece of gear, but the only downside is that it is pretty heavy if you wanna travel larger distances on foot - which when shooting in the city might be expected :-D

thanks guys for all the comments :) Actually the waiting in the rain was the worst... like in that timelapse with fireworks I got rained on full on for about 40 minutes, got completely soaked and thought that this better be worth it :-D And HDR.... that is probably a matter of taste, I used to love subtle colors and BW photography, but these alleys and little hidden gems in Melbourne made me feel that passionate color might better capture the spirit of this city...

  • @FilipLaureys

Awesome Video! but I think if you maybe have used a ND filter and a longer exposure at the waterfall and the sea it would be even better, cause then the water is a bit blury and looks (in my opinion) better.

Huge fan of the long exposure and dolly work, but I have to say the HDR effect is ruins it for me. I think you've pushed it a little too far, evident by the 'halo' effect in the clouds.
    What dolly are you using?
