Melbourne was the richest city in the world then and the money was put into the wonderful infrastructure of buildings, roads, gardens, facilities etc. There is a 'China Town ' in the city centre (this area is near it) and a Chinese Museum at Bendigo, one of the gold area cities. The Chinese are our second number or immigrants to Australia at present. It is called Marvellous Melbourne for many reasons !
