Grass shrimp could be a good addition......also a light close to water to attract bugs at night....or pool lights....that would be basically free feed minus the dollar or two a month to run it.

Great idea with the light! I was thinking of shrimp and crawfish as well. I dont think crawfish would damage anything like he believes

Nice to see the pond completed with the fish varieties. Mosquito fish can multiply but you got to keep the big ones around because they're the females. I would corn them off from the other fish so they don't get eaten and that some of the little males breed with them until you get a load of mosquito fish. Once they've had babies then you'll be in good shape without having to go out and buy them all the time. Thanks for sharing

Beautiful pond, perfect size for Bonnie and Clyde. I love how you added the small helper fish to keep the pond in the best condition. The plants are wonderful, the pond construction was first class. Adding those moss covered branches was inspired, they really are the perfect finishing touch.

Man, hats off to you and your wife! Awesome pond, it's beautiful. I'm an aquarium guy, can't do a saltwater reef pond lawls. Your concern and patience is a great lesson for all fish keepers. I worked in a pet shop one time and people kept asking me for the best products & I told them they best product as a fish keeper I couldn't sell them but I could only tell them about it. The product is called patience. Bad things happen fast and good things take a little time. Cheers & thanks for sharing.

Hey, gotta say, I clicked on the vid thinking you were building a huge fishing Bass pond, like a couple of friends own in Texas and Missouri and I was a little disappointed when I realized the pond was to be a backyard the size of a swimming pool....almost clicked through....and a very glad I didn't!
Man, you all did a great job, on everything!
The pond is incredible, what a water-feature in the backyard and the video production and content presentation is way above par!
    Thank you!!!

  • @kevink552
    @kevink552 5 ปีที่แล้ว

A good friend has a bass pond in his backyard as well, about 70 yards by 20yards, 17ft deep in the deepest spot. It already had fish in it when he got the place 10 years ago but I store my boat at his place and bring home fish in the livewell to supplant the pond {big bass and crappie}. In the summer I sometimes stop at the pet store on the way over to his place and buy boxes of large crickets, the ones people feed reptiles, the fish go crazy over them when thrown on top of the water. You get to see the fish completely clear the water often in pursuit of them, very exciting.

@BamaBass, regarding your Worm Compost idea. It is quite good but I suggest using bamboo fence or similar to create a U. Then just pile any clipping like cutting your plants down int he pond or similar there. To keep a warm compost that builds up in height yet doesn't look too obvious. direct the U away from the viewer and up against the hill. This will also allow the compost to get more oxygen. Which will let it decompose faster. Which is to the liking of Worms.

You guys have one of the nicest ponds ive ever seen! Absolutely love all the attention to detail you give to everything. Great idea on the worm bed and bait tank too! My vote is for shiners.

I agree, every time I pull them out of the water it looks like they shrink! Water playing tricks on us.

Looks like Clyde is a spotted bass and Bonnie is a largemouth bass. No mention of that I seen.

I think it would be awesome to see you make a live well for bait of all sorts like shad and minnows (LIKE IF YOU AGREE)

Liking the aquadecor background. You and I have some similar tastes. Have one myself. Also digging out our first big pond tomorrow. Couldn’t be more excited

You should put sherriff in the pond with a new girlfriend that would finish up stocking pretty well I think

If y’all ever catch a bunch of fish you should filet them and bring them down to Mikee’s Seafood in Gulfshores Alabama.
They do a fisherman’s fish that is fantastic.
They will blacken, pan grill, deep fry or sauté your filets.
The deal will also include sides.
And you won’t have to do the dishes.
Ask for Dale, he is a great server and knows what is good.
