I love watching your videos because you know games so well, have great logic in your analyzing, and your voice is so awesome! Not only do you help prepare me for making games, you remind me why I even want to make games in the first place: to bring forth new, legendary games into the world that people will love to play and analyze to make even better games.
Sceptile honestly didn't get much in Gen VI, however effective physical Unburden Sceptile's are now easier to run with Power Up punch and replacing Fighting gem for Flying gem to help boost Power-Up punch rather than Acrobatics. To be frank it's a good fighting type move to give potential physical sweepers more to strive for because of it's attack boosting ability while supporting a very good type coverage against steely walls that gives the option of Leaf Blade Sceptile something to look forward to.
Oh my god! I love sceptile so much. I use him all the time in my playthroughs of emerald. So many times sceptile is left unnoticed while blaiziken and swampert get all the praise. I'm just so happy he's number one on your list!
Hmm, I love how Mawile is a deceiver with a massive mouth on the back of it's head. Kinda like Girafarig but more my style. Plus Steel is my favourite type.
Great list, I understand most of those entries, but I was really hoping to see Aggron and/or flygon. Aggron is downright my favorite pokemon, mostly due to it's appearance and impenetrable defence, and Flygon is a special pokemon to. I'll elaborate a bit: I am a huge fan of dragons, pokemon or not, and my first pokemon game was emerald. Flygon was the first dragon I ever raised, so you can see why flygon holds a special place in my heart.
You my friend has earned my like and favorite for the sole number one pick. Sceptile is not only my favorite in gen 3 but in all of Pokemon :D I thought him Leafblade, Extreme Speed, Solarbeam, Crush Claw .
That's right, here's how it worked. I played through Pokemon Sapphire and recorded it to a DVD since my HD PVR couldn't record it. Then I took the DVD and played it on my PS3 so I could record it from there. The little number is how fast I was speeding up the DVD footage.
Great list as always. ^_^ Gen 3 is my favorite generation so most of my favorite Pokemon are in it. I love Gardevoir the most, then Flygon, Metagross, Mudkip, Tropius and a few others. I love Gen 3. :D
Hearing that part about the first normal pokemon made me realize i am Kinda surprised Snorlax wasnt in the Gen 1 list. I get its all personal opinion. But that seemed like one of The pokemon that everyone liked no matter what.
Not sure if you read my response to your other comment but just in case no, these are not emulators. Here's what happened. I played through Pokemon Sapphire on my GameBoy Player and recorded it to a DVD since my HD PVR couldn't record it. Then I took the DVD and played it on my PS3 so I could record it from there. The little number is how fast I was speeding up the DVD footage.
great list, i definitely love Sivper waaay more then Zangoose xD Swampert and Sceptile has always been of my fav pokmon as well..hoenn and johto are the only regions where i love all the starters.Kyogre and groudon are two my favs but i love Kyogre more...i just got a Kyogre plushie in the mail today xD Latios is one of my fav Psychic pokemon next to Dexoys, i thought it would be on ur list for sure lol either way i loved it and cant wait next one :) P.S i have a Blaziken with speed boost xD
My favorite Gen 3 Pokémon is Gardevoir. It's extremely OP in Gen 3, learning Psychic at level 26 in its Kirlia stage. While it got changed to learning it at level 40, to this day, it remains as my Psychic Pokémon on my team (and now Fairy too in X and Y).
I try not to use them as much as possible. I only bring them up if there's no way to avoid it like in the StarFox64 redo review, or to make fun of them before people can leave those quotes instead of saying something else.
Hooray for sceptile, groudon, the latis, milotic, and my personal favorite Pokemon ever blaziken. I also remember trying to get to regice. I was decoding it letter by letter and it opened up just as I cracked it
This list just reminded me of how most of my favourite pokemon are gen 3. Metagross, Gardevoir, Milotic, Blaziken, Groudon, Rayquaza. Zangoose had a bad-ass design but I wasn't fond of battling with it. I never managed to evolve my feebas (which I found really easily and had no idea was rare at the time) because after a certain point it wouldn't eat anymore pokeblocks.. being about 99% maxed out on beauty. x(
you are both right, if you have the scale you can just trade evolve, but if you traded over a feebas with max beauty already, just level it up and it will evolve
Technically part of what you said was incorrect. The code for the contests condition stat still exists in FireRed/LeafGreen/HeartGold/SoulSilver/Black/White/Black 2/White 2 and as such Feebas can still evolve via Beauty in those games but there is no way to raise it, so you'd have to bring it over with the Beauty stat already at 170 or higher (which I'd note also isn't max - liike all other stats contest stats take up a full bit meaning they max out at 255 and only 170 is required for Milotic).
Hoenn is by far my favorite region in Pokemon. Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are tied as my favorite Pokemon games. The GameBoy Advance SP is my favorite handheld gaming console.
I love using Slaking when the circumstances are right. Sceptile is awesome as well. He's my grass type for Gen 3. Torterra is my overall Grass type for all of Pokemon.
Augh! Salt on the wounds. I've been playing gen 3 recently and I'm having trouble with Maxie, right in front of Groudon. Any suggestions for getting past his Camerupt and Crobat? They keep destroying me. T-T My team: Blaziken; Tropius; Ninjask; Absol; Barboach; Mawile; Wynaut; Shedinja; Linoone. I half EV trained the Absol, though I'm pretty sure I did a terrible job at it. I focused on Defense and Sp. Defense.
Same here, kid. I just love it and Gardevoir rekindled my love for Pokémon. I ALWAYS name mine Viola. Moves: Calm mind, Psychic, Thunderbolt and Protect.
Are Grass-Types your favorite Starter Pokémon types? Because I see them on your favorite Pokémon lists higher than the other types. Bulbasaur was higher than the others, no other starter was on your Johto list, and now Sceptile. So is it? I wouldn't be surprised.
Honorable Mention: Gardevoir I love Gardevoir because it has an elegant appearance, has a Japanese name Sirknight, and is my favorite Psychic type Pokemon.
Cjs, this is more of a random question, but since you are a fan of the 3rd generation. Do you have those old pokemon toys that did something when you pressed a button?
Not in my experience, especially since I swept Wallace's entire team (Including Milotic) with just an underlevelled Grumpig. With Calm Mind and the Thick Fat ability giving him two extra resistances to both Ice and Fire he can be a serious threat.
You pronounced Scald "scaled"! I nearly banged my head on my keyboard hearing that. Great list, though. My favorite Gen 3 Pokemon include Jirachi, Gardevoir, and Plusle and Minun.
yes but since the kyogre is faster, its ability will go into effect earlier, then groudons drought will make it sunny, therefore making solarbeam not a charge attack
ah~ the hoenn region. as much as i like alot of the pokemon in them, it's not my favorite region, though i give it props for being awesome when i first heard about it. sharpedo was the first one i saw of this region and it looked badass! i also remember my little brother catching a shiny zangoose, but due to some issues (don't remember it) he lost it.
Get your Barboach to a Whiscash to deal with the Camerupt. As for the Crobat, you don't have any type advantages in your team so just try power through with your Blaziken and Absol. What moves/level is your Mawile? Mawile should be like kryptonite for a standard NPC Crobat
This is the last Generation of Pokemon that I actually still KIND OF liked. My favorite Pokemon from Hoenn are Linoone and Kecleon. Some of the other Pokemon I like are: Sceptile, Aggron, Groudon, and Rayquaza.
They should make a pre-evolution of the Lati Twins, it would be purple (since its mixed with red and blue), and depending on the gender, it would either evolve into Latias or Latios, or something new.
Now that ORAS is out, the "any special water attack" in Kyogre's move set has basically been replaced with Origin Pulse
But Origin Pulse can miss under normal circumstances, and Surf can't...
Sceptile is my favorite Pokémon of all time.
Hello brother. :)
Simon Bonezay I prefer Grovyle he just looks so badass :D
Same here, of course
3DSwordsman yussssss

Hell. Yes.
I love watching your videos because you know games so well, have great logic in your analyzing, and your voice is so awesome! Really well made video, entertaining, and had a ton of well executed jokes! Great job! It was just a joy to watch!
Sceptile honestly didn't get much in Gen VI, however effective physical Unburden Sceptile's are now easier to run with Power Up punch and replacing Fighting gem for Flying gem to help boost Power-Up punch rather than Acrobatics. If anything Sceptile should have got Speed Boost not Blaziken; then again 'Game Freak Customs' at play again
Oh my god! I love sceptile so much. I use him all the time in my playthroughs of emerald. So many times sceptile is left unnoticed while blaiziken and swampert get all the praise. I'm just so happy he's number one on your list!
"Come on guys, don't give me the cold shoulder."
It felt a little forced which was another reason I removed it.
10. Swampert
9. Salamence
8. Blaziken
7. Registeel
6. Latios
5. Groudon
4. Kyogre
3. Sceptile
2. Deoxys
1. Rayquaza
Hmm, I love how Mawile is a deceiver with a massive mouth on the back of it's head. Kinda like Girafarig but more my style. Plus Steel is my favourite type.
I applaud you for adding my starter Sceptile and Zangoose was my second Shiny Pokemon. Good list.
Nice job cj. Like these pokemon list so far. Are you also going to do a top 10 least favorite pokemon on each of the 5 gens too?
Great list, I understand most of those entries, but I was really hoping to see Aggron and/or flygon. Aggron is downright my favorite pokemon, mostly due to it's appearance and impenetrable defence, and Flygon is a special pokemon to. I'll elaborate a bit: I am a huge fan of dragons, pokemon or not, and my first pokemon game was emerald. You my friend has earned my like and favorite for the sole number one pick. Sceptile is not only my favorite in gen 3 but in all of Pokemon :D I thought him Leafblade, Extreme Speed, Solarbeam, Crush Claw .
I actually caught a Feebas once, good thing too. It is the one me and my friends all have been using to get new ones using the Ditto breeding technic.
That's right, here's how it worked. I played through Pokemon Sapphire and recorded it to a DVD since my HD PVR couldn't record it. Then I took the DVD and played it on my PS3 so I could record it from there. The little number is how fast I was speeding up the DVD footage.
I'm already subscribed to Roger. Hooray for being ahead of the curve and in the dark about how the internet works at the time! .....Yaaaay.
top 10 fav hoenn pkmn
10- manectric
9- swellow
8- metagross
7- blaziken
6- swampert
5- groudon
4- kyogre
3- deoxys
2- rayquaza
1- sceptile
Great list as always. ^_^ Gen 3 is my favorite generation so most of my favorite Pokemon are in it. I love Gardevoir the most, then Flygon, Metagross, Mudkip, Tropius and a few others. I love Gen 3. :D
Treecko's line being the number one on this list. You, sir, have just earned my respect and admiration.
Sceptile is my favorite Pokemon overall.
thank you for putting him on the list :)
CJ, your ice puns are amazing and I appreciate them
Hearing that part about the first normal pokemon made me realize i am Kinda surprised Snorlax wasnt in the Gen 1 list.
I get its all personal opinion. But that seemed like one of The pokemon that everyone liked no matter what.
i agree i like sceptile :D
welcome to the club
I'm planning of buying black 2 and platinum maybe even X to get my classic Team Omega and I have the 1st version of the DS
Hey Cjszero, I know this is an odd request, seeing as how it's not video game related, but have you considered doing a top 10 Doctor Who list?
My 12 HOEN favourite pokemons are:
12: Aggron
11:Salamence
10:Dusclops
9: Flygon
8: Shiftry
7: Armaldo
6: Grandily
5: Milotic
4: Claydol
3: Metangross
2: Sceptile
1: Blaziken
#1, IT'S CRADILY, NOT GRANDILY! #2, THERE IS NO N IN METAGRSS!
Zangoose, Regice, Metagross, Sceptile... We've got a lot of the same favorites... Eager to hear about your favorites from Sinnoh next!
I try not to use them as much as possible. I only bring them up if there's no way to avoid it like in the StarFox64 redo review, or to make fun of them before people can leave those quotes instead of saying something else.
Did you hear the stats my Sceptile had? I can't do that without EV training. Plus I brought it up in the Pokemon Black2 review.
YAY! Swampert made the list! I hate it how much everyone hates it just because of the "I hear you likez mudkipz" deal. It deserves more praise!
Hooray for sceptile, groudon, the latis, milotic, and my personal favorite Pokemon ever blaziken. I also remember trying to get to regice. I was decoding it letter by letter and it opened up just as I cracked it
Zangoose is my favorite pokemon of all time :D Thanks for putting him on here :D
This list just reminded me of how most of my favourite pokemon are gen 3.
Metagross, Gardevoir, Milotic, Blaziken, Groudon, Rayquaza.
Zangoose had a bad-ass design but I wasn't fond of battling with it.
I never managed to evolve my feebas (which I found really easily and had no idea was rare at the time) because after a certain point it wouldn't eat anymore pokeblocks.. being about 99% maxed out on beauty. x(
Well. There is an event in Pokemon X and Y which it has the Speed Boost ability. I happen to have that one that is Level 100.
My favorite gen 3 Pokemon is Sceptile, too! Mostly because it was my first started in gen 3.
Thanks, I actually had a 5th pun but I thought that would be over doing it. :)
My favorite hoenn pokemon is swampert
Very nice list Mr Smith. Here's my personal favorite Hoenn Pokemon:
10. Swampert
9. Blaziken
8. Deoxys
7. Rayquaza
6. Groudon
5. Gardevoir
4. Milotic
3. Flygon
2. Kyogre
1. Sceptile
Man dude, I love these top 10 vids!
Are you going to include Mega Evolutions in the Kalos list? If not, can we get a list of your 10 favorite mega evolutions?
man... sceptile never actualy got love... even though he was (is) my favorite grass type.
Hey CJ I've got two questions for you. 1 Is Grass your favorite type, and of the two which do you prefer Latias or Latios?
I... I like all of these guys! Sure I'd change the order a bit and add some other ones but... my list would be rather similar.
Liked this video because you added groudon on this list. Its my favorite legendary and pokemon with gardevoir ;)
Also, groundon can learn solar beam at around level 70. Combine that with its ability, you got a couter against alot of water types.
FINALLY THERE IS LOVE FOR SCEPTILE!!!!!!!!!!!! My first and favorite Pokemon of all time.
sceptile is really strong, but almost noone ever choose the grass type in the beginning. its sad
Cause gen 3 ( which is my 2nd favorite gen) was horrible for the treecko line.
you are both right, if you have the scale you can just trade evolve, but if you traded over a feebas with max beauty already, just level it up and it will evolve
Your opinion is a very good one. And your profile picture is even better :D
4 ice puns on the 9th entry. That's just cold.
1.) Yes it is. 2.) If I had a preference for one over the other then that pokemon would've been on the list instead of tying.
I'm surprised with the lack of rebuttal on Rayquaza's absence :3
are you going to do a "my personal favorite pokemon list" after these lists?
Sceptile IS my favourite grass type! It was also came from my second official starter pokemon right after Todidile!
After watching your Sinnoh list, is it alright if I may ask, do you play Pokemon Showdown?
I like the way you think. Both Swampert and Kyogre are on my top 10 favorite pokemon video.
I love using Slaking when the circumstances are right. Sceptile is awesome as well. He's my grass type for Gen 3. Torterra is my overall Grass type for all of Pokemon.
So if you like Swampert, do you liek Mudkips?
Augh! Salt on the wounds. I've been playing gen 3 recently and I'm having trouble with Maxie, right in front of Groudon. Any suggestions for getting past his Camerupt and Crobat? They keep destroying me. T-T
My team: Blaziken; Tropius; Ninjask; Absol; Barboach; Mawile; Wynaut; Shedinja; Linoone. I half EV trained the Absol, though I'm pretty sure I did a terrible job at it. I focused on Defense and Sp. Defense.
Of course I do, how do you think I played these games?
There was a dlc of a Special Torchic not only with Speed Boost but Blazikenite. If you have XY now it's too late to get it.
You were SO funny in this video. Love it and do it more often.
Based on the tree I thought that Sceptile would be kind of slow, carrying that heavy tree around.
No I got Black 2, but I have Regice from the first 3rd gen games so I'm good.
I've thought about it but I haven't played that many movie games.
sceptile is my fav too! I love his design.
I'm currently playing pokemon emerald and I chose treeko and I'm never going to regret it! He is a beast!
My favorite Gen 3 Pokemon:
1st: Groudon (Primal Form)
2nd: Rayquaza (Mega Evolution)
3rd: Deoxys (Attack Form)
4th: Latios
5th. Latias
6th. Sceptile
7th. Metagross
8th. Kyogre (Primal Form)
9th. Salamence
10th. Regirock
very nice list number ten, two, and one are my favourite pokemon
Finally, somebody talks about Sceptile for once!
My friend, you get a like specifically for the ice pun sequence :)
Hmm, I've been partial to Ralts myself, and I absolutely love Absol. XD
Holy crap, you're one of the few people I've seen who doesn't glorify the hell out of Rayquaza, I thank you for that sir.
what is the percentage of finding a latios in the water I was just on my swampart swimming around and found a latios but accidently insta-killed it :(
Honorable Mention: Gardevoir
I love Gardevoir because it has an elegant appearance, has a Japanese name Sirknight, and is my favorite Psychic type Pokemon.
Cjs, this is more of a random question, but since you are a fan of the 3rd generation. Do you have those old pokemon toys that did something when you pressed a button?
Aside from crunch what would be another good move for a sceptile in gen 3? I'd appreciate suggestions
I was going to ask about skarmory but I remembered that it's gen 2
KYOGRE!!! i love him so much.
Blaziken will always be my starting pokemon in hoenn.
Latios & Latias are great as well.
overall great list
I think you covered most of what I would've put on there, except for Aggron and Salamance.
Not in my experience, especially since I swept Wallace's entire team (Including Milotic) with just an underlevelled Grumpig. With Calm Mind and the Thick Fat ability giving him two extra resistances to both Ice and Fire he can be a serious threat.
are you gonna do a top 10 fav pokemon over all
Can you tell us the pun?
Btw, after watching the Star Successor review, I very temped to buy and play it and it's prequel.
Were you excited that you can get Torchic in pokemon X and Y, and more importantly : Will you use his the mega evolution
My top 3 pokemon of all time, interestingly enough, come from Gen. 3. Camerupt, Cradily and Walrein are my favorites.
ah~ the hoenn region. as much as i like alot of the pokemon in them, it's not my favorite region, though i give it props for being awesome when i first heard about it. sharpedo was the first one i saw of this region and it looked badass! i also remember my little brother catching a shiny zangoose, but due to some issues (don't remember it) he lost it.
my top 10 favorite Hoenn Pokemon
10: Kecleon
9: Linoone
8: Seviper
7: Gardevoir
6: Registeel
5: Flygon
4: Blaziken
3: Altaria
2: Jirachi
1: Metagross
The game you play in backround is pokemon stadium please someone tells me.
Get your Barboach to a Whiscash to deal with the Camerupt. As for the Crobat, you don't have any type advantages in your team so just try power through with your Blaziken and Absol. What moves/level is your Mawile? Mawile should be like kryptonite for a standard NPC Crobat
Gen 3 is easily my favorite... even though I haven't played it in several years... but oh well, I'm curious to see his favorites.
Gardevoir, Blaziken, Metagross, Milotic(2nd fav water), Kyorge, Salamence Flygon, Swampert, Lati twins , Flygon
