    The important thing is that you got them back. The fast trapping will come. Keep tossing and work them out further. EXPECT losses. It's the basket sorting out the good from the bad. Losing birds sucks, but they can't all be good. On the anxiety, just keep in mind that it's only our minds that separates us from animals. Everything else about us, you can find in a pigeon, a dog or a cow. Unlike animals, we can control how we think and how we react to our environment, even to the point of being able to change our environment. Everything you see around you is so because of someone's use of their mind. We become what we think about most of the time, for better or for worse. Stress is a daily part of life and nobody is without problems. It's how we react to the problems that matters. Once you can control your own mind (thoughts, reactions, ideas, etc), you can make ANYTHING happen. There's a video out there by the late Earl Nightingale called "The Strangest Secret". If you watch that routinely and take it to heart, I think you'll find that instead of anxiety controlling you, you can control it and put the stress in it's proper place and get back to focusing on your goals.

      Thanks my friend . It’s like you know it’s a trick but you still pull the finger. That’s what anxiety is too me . I have come along way but I still have a long way to go. I asked myself if pigeons help me or hurt me . The feeling I got when I saw those pigeons come over those trees is the same feeling I got at Joes on race day when his pigeons started arriving. It’s worth to me .

      @NewBeginningKennelLoft It's exhilarating when they come home (and terrible when they don't). Don't forget the Nightingale video! I tell everyone I see struggling to watch it and very few follow through.

    Time and patience is all it takes. I'm not saying you're over or underfeeding your birds. But the feed is how you control them. If you're worried about them being afraid of you. Sit in loft and hand feed them. While you're doing that whistle and shake their feed can. So they understand when they see you that you are a source of food and not fear. I'm new with this but it works. I have some knucklehead birds. But when I start whistling and shaking my feet can they come. Even my second wave that I just start working with. When those guys See me they come over and land on me trying to eat.
    But I spend a lot of time with my birds every day. Probably too much. But it's working for me. And I got to tell you this.I learned most of what I know about birds from youtube. Only trying to help.

    You're doing way better then me. This year to date, I breed over 50 yb. 15+ of them are late hatches (May+ yb). I now have 9 pairs of breeders thanks to all the local club members. However, out of the 50 yb, I only have 2 left that flew/trained. I lost 30+ yb from loft flying or not trapping. All my late hatches (15+) will not be flying and no more flying for me this year. No more team, loft flying, plus I'm scared to lose them.
    Since I am no longer flying yb, I am stocking all of them. I should have 15+ pairs for 2025 season.
    My mentor says my plan is not good because I will be breeding untested pigeons and will be wasting a lot of feed and time.

    "I should go live and let you guys do what you do and say you should get out of pigeon racing..." 😂😂 You're doing fine Dennis! 1st Toss is a success they're learning what you want them to do... repetition makes perfect. Your racing season isn't until October, no doubt they'll be flying and trapping real good. In the meantime enjoy the process.

      Maybe other people aren’t truthful enough on their videos. But when I watch others can CALL their birds in . I truly feel my birds for some reason are afraid of me and see me as danger. As soon I go in my house they trapped . 27/28 . I am missing one ☝🏼. I spend time in the loft , I stay in there while they eat. I talk, whistle and sign to them. I just feel like I’m not connected. I see others walk in their loft and their birds don’t even react. I see birds mating with owners and sit on their shoulders and I cd don’t have that. It’s a concern

    • @kerbyjackson88
      @kerbyjackson88 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @NewBeginningKennelLoft It's just feed control. Cut them to one pickpot full per ten birds and you will see them funnel in like mad by Day 3. Tameness is also derived from feeding. If you whack the feed way back and crouch on the floor closer to their level, they will take it from your hand. Eventually, they'll trust you. Maydis actually just did a short on it and the method he shows has been used for a LONG time.

      @@kerbyjackson88 I’ll have Joe come and feel my birds too see if they have good BMI . I cut their food back and I know what you’re saying is right I’m just not confident about what’s enough and what’s not enough. I’m worried I’ll underfeed

    • @kerbyjackson88
      @kerbyjackson88 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NewBeginningKennelLoft They'll be okay on small amounts like that. If you get them too low, you can build them back up easily enough. If they feel heavy in the hand, you're over feeding.

    Get them on the barley mix. Pigeon racing is a process and takes a lot of patience

    Patience buddy, they’ll get it. Are you feeding once a day only? I’ve lost about 15 birds in the last 2 weeks to hawks and training tosses. Just part of the game. You’re not a failure, there’s some tricks you can do to get em to trap faster. After they’ve been in the baskets a few times they’ll quit acting crazy once they know what to expect. I don’t usually separate sexes in young birds but I know some guys do.

    What’s up Dennis, it’s normal for them to do that. They will trap better the further they go. As far as the behavior in the cages goes that is normal to. You just need to let them sit for at least ten minutes. Also give them some water. That’s one of the things that you need to teach them. It’s very humid and it’s normal for them to pant like that. They are removing the heat from their bodies.

    Feed your young birds once a day. If they fly in the morning, have feed waiting for them as soon as they hit the roof or board. Enough food until you see them start heading to the water. No twice a day feeding. It's not necessary right now

    Try using a bird that dont fly to lure the team down to trap. Like a dropper bird.

    OVER FED BIRDS , NO EXCUSES BIRDS ARE OVER FED THATS WHY THEY IGNORING YOUR CALL , ALSO THEY SHOULD TRAP WHEN THEY SEE YOU NOT WHEN U GO IN THE HOUSE . YOU NEED TO BUILD TRUST IN UR BIRDS , Feed them RAW PEANUTS 🥜 AS TREATS 😊 DONT Spook. THEM DONT FLAG THEM CAUSE THEN THEY CANT TRUST YOU AND THEY WILL AVOID YOU.

I been trying to work on building the trust between me and the pigeons by just spending more time with them and being more relaxed around them. I’ll start today with the peanuts . Should I start by trying to hand feed them or just putting it in the feeders ?

    Also stop talking about failure. The birds are doing good. I stand in the coop and shake the can. All they need is a little distance and they will run in eventually.
